3 Little Darlings in 3 darling dresses with 3 darling slips and 3 darling hats…

BIG NEWS: My hubby was “de-ported” today… but it’s a good thing! When he was getting his Chemo last year he made that term up. As the patients finished up with their treatments for each session, the nurses had to remove the needle (actually it looked like a push pin) that had been inserted into their ports where the drugs had been fed through. “Deported” may have been used before in other Cancer treatment centers but the nurses around here had never heard anyone mention it. They laughed and thought it was the most clever way of saying a patient was finished for that day. The port was a little plastic disc about the size of a quarter that was inserted surgically as a way to get your chemo treatments without having an IV in your arm each session. My hubby’s stood out about 1/2″ and he was ready for it to come out. My hubby had had his in since December 2016 and he got the OK from his oncologist that it could be removed.
The picture below isn’t of my hubby… but one I found by googling ports. His looked pretty much like this only his was a Power Port and had 3 little points raised up under the skin in a triangle shape.

If you click on any of my pictures they will enlarge.

There was a link to the picture, so I included it…

Oh Happy Day…since it’s been removed! He’s quite sore, but glad it’s out!

I was going to show you my Buffalo Check curtains again, but I just picked up the lining fabric for them today… so I haven’t gotten them finished yet. Cindy is coming tomorrow for a quick 3 day visit and I can’t wait to see what she thinks of my trim. I wish you all could see it! It’s really pretty in person!

Kathie asked why the fabric was called Buffalo Check? Here are a couple links that will give you the answer!

Buffalo Check is 165 years old

Now…let’s move onto those dresses I mentioned in my title! A while back… a LONG while back, I made and sold these little straw hats on Ebay…

I mentioned in my listing for the hats that I had picked out a few pieces of fabric that matched the hats and the winner could have 1/2 yard of whichever piece they liked to make the dress themselves. Well… I sold the hats to the same lady and she asked me in the nicest way if I could find time to make the dresses myself. She picked the fabrics she liked for each dress and waited for my answer.

I told her it would be a while if she wanted me to do them… and she said it was okay… she’d wait! And she did… for months… but I finally got them finished and I thought I’d show them to you. I don’t generally take special orders, but I did it in this case…she really wanted me to make the dresses.
(I didn’t make these dresses recently…they were made months ago, but I just never shared them.)

So here are some pictures I took of the girls and their dresses and slips and hats…My pictures aren’t the greatest as I finished them late at night and wanted to get them out the next morning… but I think you can get the idea of what they look like…

This is what they looked like as I packed them up and sent them on their way…

Well, that’s it… I hope you enjoyed seeing them…

See you soon,
Blessings, Jeanne

Oh, Jeanne, what good news about George being “de-ported”!! The discomfort will soon be a distant memory, I’m sure. God is so good, answering prayers.

Thanks for the picture; I did click on the link and saw a picture of what the port looks like before it’s put in. I had no idea. We have a younger man (early 40s, I’m guessing) in our church who has a port, since he is being treated for mesothelioma, and I’ve wondered what it was; I imagine his is much the same as the one in the picture.

I do remember those hats, and the fabrics, too. The dresses all turned out just darling, but I think I do like the red/white/blue set the best!

It so good to see you’ve been sewing again! I’ll bet it feels good to you, too!

    1. Thank you Charlotte,
Today’s post was a little bit of learnng, a little bit of fun and a little bit of pretty!!!
      So glad you enjoyed it!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Jeanne, I’m so glad to hear that George’s port has been removed! Do they all have smiley faces on them?? I hope he doesn’t have the complications my sister did, when hers was removed last winter. She developed blood clots from the removal, and had to be hospitalized for several days. George probably won’t have that, but just be aware/

Oh, goodness, those darling dresses and hats! Who wouldn”t be thrilled to receive that box of goodies? It would be like Christmas morning to me! I tried to pick the one I liked best, but it was a 3 way tie! I will say the slip with the red, white and blue stars was a favorite of mine, because I won one just like that from you, but it was a Molly size slip. Betsy wants one!! You need to make some slips in your Etsy shop!!!

I’m so happy that you have been able to get back to your sewing room. Let me tell you, you’ve still “got it”!

That was interesting to read about buffalo checks! All of a sudden I “need” to get something with that pattern! Have fun with Cindy!

    1. HI Linda,
We never drew a smiley face on George’s but maybe some people do… :o)
I won’t tell George about what happened to your sister, but I’ll keep a close eye on him…

I know I need to get some slips mafe…along with some gloves, and pamtalettes and crinoline and straw hats and thigh highs.. whew…I’m tired akready!!!
I know I’ll have fun with Cindy, then when she leaves, I’m taking momma down to Springfield to see Deb…momma can’t seen to remember her grandkids and now her great grandkids…
      😮 (
      We’ll be gone a few days…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Hope George recovers quickly. He should be much more comfortable I’m sure.
The dresses are just lovely. So perfect with the accompanying hats.
Should be a fun visit with Cindy. I’m sure she will love the “trellis” trim in the kitchen. 🙂
And a tiny special envelope arrived here yesterday. Somehow, Romey knew it was for her and quickly tore it open. I believe I mentioned she wanted to be a ballerina for Halloween. Well, now she has the perfect outfit. The little slip fits perfectly. She pulled it up a little above the waist and is dancing around the computer. I’ll try and catch her to get a photo later. She’s pretty cute.
    Have a great weekend.

    1. HI Joy,
He’s sore now. But when it heals, I know he will like it much better…he said he always felt like an alien with it poking out like it did!

Glad you liked the dresses and hats and glad Romey”s slip fit her…does it need to be any different? Shorter? Tighter in the waist?
      Just wondering?
I’m counting the hours till Cindy gets here…I know we’ll have fun, whatever we do or don’t do! :o)
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. HI Shara,
The lady WAS thrilled…I made them months ago, but just hadn’t shown them on here. Glad you liked them.
      Thank you Shara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Good Afternoon Jeanne,
Is that George I see doing a happy dance? LOL I’m so tickled for you both! It has to be a good feeling to be rid of the port. High five George!!!
I remember when the those hats and fabric were in your etsy shop, it’s been a while. Aren’t you sweet to make an exception for your customer! I’m sure she loves her outfits, they are all just adorable.
Enjoy your visit with your sis. I’m sure you’ll have lots of fun things to share after her
    visit.
I still haven’t taken my mini Miki’s photo. When I was putting her eyes in I noticed one of her eyelashes was only attached in the corner. Nuts! A brand new doll too! Oh well… I did some research and asked a question on Kaye Wiggs BJD Q&A facebook page, Kaye said it’s a common problem and she was sorry and she hasn’t been able to find a fix for it yet. She also told me how to fix. What a nice lady Kaye Wiggs is. Miki’s eye lash is repaired now and I can’t believe I did it myself!
    Hugs
    Ingrid
    Happy Friday btw : )

    1. HI Ingrid,
Yes, I believe you guessed right on the happy “deportation” dance from my hubby!! He is quite the happy man!!
Thank you for the sweet compliments on the dresses and hats. Even though I made them, I still love to see them in pictures. When there’s more than one in a picture I love it even more. There’s just something about a group picture of 3 pretty little girls in dainty dresse’s that gets me!!
It’s a 13+ hour trip for Cindy and her hubby…but I’m counting down the hours till they get here…
Good for you on fixing Miki’s eyelash!!! I’ll be watching for pictures of her…
      Thanks Ingrid,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. It will be wonderful to have Cindy there, and I’m glad you and your mother will have a chance to see Deb. As long as she remembers her own children, that might be enough to be grateful for.
I am thrilled about George being de-ported. The worst of this long ordeal may be over.
The new dresses and their petticoats are charming. I’m so glad you did that for your winner. There’s nothing like a JeanneMarie dress.
I’ve seen trims similar to that on your doors and windows. Do you know what it’s called?

    1. HI Marilyn,
Yes, it will be fun having Cindy here to give me advice and all those other “sisterly” things we share! :o)
We are grateful that she knows us… very grateful!

Thanks for the compliments on the 3 dresses and hats. It was fun to make them however I wanted and decorate them as well. She was happy, but I felt bad she had to wait so long. It was something I just couldn’t get to at the time, but she was willing to wait! :o)

The window and door trim might be called Craftsman but I’ve seen it listed as just Farmhouse trim. I think you can do it however you like with as many layers as you please. I could have stopped at the 1 sideways piece on top of the 6″ board laying against the wall, but I wanted one more layer, so I added another board on top of it.
I just finished painting it all again… you can’t get too may coats of paint on window and door trim. I do need to paint my door, but the can doesn’t say it will work on a metal door, so I’ll have to get something else for it.

      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Dear Jeanne, what beautiful dresses. Your buyer is very lucky. Of course the Little Darlings look divine.
Thank you for sharing your good news about your husband. Prayers continue.

    1. HI Dorothy,
Thanks so much for your kind compliments on my doll dresses. I wish I could clone myself to get more sewing done…
It was good news for us too! He was glad to get it out!!!
      Thanks Dorothy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Such good news about George. He must be relieved to leave the last vestige of that horrible time behind him.
The LD dresses are just darling. They are each as sweet as can be.

    1. Thank you Laura,
One less reminder of what “has been!”
We are looking forward to the future.
Thanks for the compliments on my dresses. They were very well received by the buyer.
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Fantastic news for your husband and you his amazing nurse. One more thing to check off the list of this ordeal. The port looks painful but in the end was worth it and that shows with his amazing recovery.

Oh my, those dresses and hats are just adorable. I can not pick a favorite so I won’t even try. Your sewing skills are amazing and lucky the owner and her dolls are to have one of your creations. I am sure she was thrilled.

Hope you have a great day.
    Sandra
