I had every intention of answering the comments about the yard sale…but guess what? I fell asleep…I hope you understand!
Joy and a few others asked about the chippy cabinet… It was never in the yard sale…it’s going to live with Cindy. She’s loved it for years! It’s gotten a little more chippy over the years so she should love it even more…
My hubby and I got a load of mulch to put around my mom’s severely neglected plants. She’s been gone from there since Thanksgiving and they were needing a little sprucing up! We thought the red mulch would look the best with her terra cotta colored shutters. See if you agree…
I was going to give you the MLS # and let you see my mom’s house for yourself, but I checked the listing this morning and it has been taken off the market! I’m guessing that’s great news! The realtor talked with us this morning and they already have plans to knock the wall out between the kitchen and the living room… (something my hubby said he would have done a long time ago!) and they are also going to knock the closet out of the basement and expand the room to make it even bigger. It sounds like they can’t wait to get started. In fact, the realtor told us they want to close by next week! Wow! I’m so happy this didn’t drag out.
My mom had an appointment today so there was no time to get anything together except use some pictures I had taken of my mom’s house when we were cleaning and repairing things. They aren’t wonderful, like the realtor’s were, but you can get an idea of what it looks like. One of these days I’ll have a post about dolls and sewing….unless my dolls have all run away and I’ve forgotten everything I know about sewing… (probably not!)
Some of my pictures were taken using the panorama setting, so they look a little stretched out. If you click on the pictures they will enlarge.
…and this was the basement…
Well, that’s not a terribly exciting blog post, but it lets you know I’m still kicking and will be back on a regular basis as soon as I can!
Thanks everyone!
Blessings, Jeanne
First of all, congratulations on the sale of the house!! Perhaps I should say tentative sale, as you never know for sure until the money is in the bank, as they say!! Someone is going to have a very sweet home there!!
Yes, I do like the red mulch (who’d have though mulch came in colors!!), and it’s really lovely with those shutters–just sort of ties the whole picture together, you might say!!
I’m glad to hear the chippy cabinet is staying in the family; it’s definitely a “Cindy” piece (from what you’ve said about her and her decorating talents!).
Hope you have a little time to rest and relax now, and then go back and re-introduce yourself to your dollies! 😉
Thanks Charlotte,
I just received the acceptance papers signed by the new owners in an email a few minutes ago. I think it’s a done deal but next week we’ll know for sure.
I walked into my sewing room a little while ago and none of my girls paid any attention to me…I think they might be a little miffed.
Things will get back to my normal routine soon…I hope.
Thanks Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
Congratulations! Another 2 hurdles completed. As Charlotte says, now it is time to slow down and relax a bit (or focus on your projects at your leisure).
HI Christal,
Today was all about getting my dining room table unloaded and the odd and ends put away.
I know there are still things to be done before my life is totally the way it used to be, but I’m feeling some relief, even now!
Thanks Christal,
Blessings, Jeanne
The cabinet and the Moses basket. That’s not a lot to decide to keep. And a CD. In addition, you made a lot of people happy with bargains while completing your final garage sale! I loved that George suggested that as a title. That means you both stand behind that decision, and you’ve earned retirement from future garage sales
Two days in a row of blog entries. Your fans will be so happy. Tomorrow you can let us know that the house sale went through. The new owners will be so happy with the new mulch — one more job they won’t have to do.
Tomorrow we may get to revisit Rebecca’s new dress — even if there’s no progress, it would be fun to see it again. And the kitchen. Though you may be busy at the house closing.
Then we have Cindy’s restoration of the cabinet to look forward to.
We are in for a cloudy day, but tomorrow will be 10 degrees warmer and hot.
Take care. Make iced tea. Sit back for a day and enjoy all the progress you’ve made.
HI Marilyn,
Later Saturday afternoon I commented to my hubby that I hoped everyone was enjoying all their new treasures. :o)
I was cleaning off my table and ran across the money “aprons” I whipped up for us to put our money in and thought for a second I’d better hang onto them. A second or two layer, I put them upstsirs, telling myself, they might make oka aprons for a future home project…something to hold nails or tools.
I haven’t seen the top of my tablecloth yet, but I’m getting closer…I’ll take time to relax after I do… actually, I’m relaxing right now, writing these comments!
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Good heavens, Jeanne. I rushed right through the blog and then forgot to comment! Sorry! That is a darling little house, it looks almost like a house from a fairy tale in the front with the charming stone path leading to the front door! I’m sure the new owners will be happy to know there is not much of anything to do on the outside, and yes, the red mulch works perfectly and adds color to the house, matching up with the shutters perfectly!
I can see it does need some updating, but it looked very comfortable for your mother. Is this the house you grew up in?
We are having some company today from out of town,soI need to get going here. I’m so happy that this is one thing that went perfectly for all of you, the yard sale and sale of the house. Keep it going!!
Thanks for the compliments on momma”s house. Linda. It really is a sweet little place for just a few people. The people who are buying it are getting it for their 22 year old son.
I know I have some pictures somewhere of the inside of the house when all her furniture was in it. My mom did a great job of styling it.
I saw the picture of the huge tree that fell in your yard and I know how much work it is to clean that all up. I hope your yard gets back in order soon!
Thanks so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, what good news about the house! I am sure the new owners will love it as much as your Mother loved it.
I always think that your blog is about life, not just sewing or dolls. You share pieces of your life and allow us to share ours. In a crazy world, you are kind of one of our anchors. You remind us that no matter what, just keep moving forward.
HI Dorothy,
I do think the new owners will enjoy the house very much. The realtor has told us about their ideas for a few changes.
Thank you for your kind words Dorothy.
Blessings, Jeanne
I should have known that Cindy wanted that cabinet. 🙂 It really is perfect for her magic touch. It is a neat piece and so glad it is staying in the family.
The exterior of the house looks so well maintained and the mulch color does match the shutters. Were the pieces left inside the house for staging? Will you have to sell them too or do they already have homes? Sounds like whoever is buying is ready to do some remodeling. Flippers or a family? We would take either at this point. Our family home is still on the market. It has so many possibilities, but also has a lot of needs. Out here, everyone wants pristine, updated, and ready to move in with no work at all. Ours is a more complicated sale too, but at 2,300 square feet, it is a lot of house.
Hope you’ve recovered from the work of the sale and can find some time to work a bit more on your new kitchen. Can’t wait to see some cabinets painted.
Whoops, got to go. Crazy blue jay babies are pecking on the slider for their cat food breakfast.
HI Joy,
I’m not sure what Cindy”s going to do with that chippy cabinet…she might leave it just like it is…I guess we’ll see.
Yes, there were a few pieces left inside that my sister is picking up when they come through. I think a house always looks a little better even with just a few things around.
The people are buying the house for their son.
I hope your house sells quickly, Joy. Wow…2300 square feet…that’s a big house!
Thanks so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
Your mom’s house has great bones.. sure the new owners will be thrilled to make it their own!
Congratulations on the quick sale:)
Thanks Shara,
All of my mom’s neighbors said they knew her house wouldn’t last long. It’s in a nice school district and it’s on a dead end road so there isn’t much traffic going by.
Thanks Shara,
Blessings, Jeanne
Wow, that was a quick sale! I hope it all continues to be a smooth process for you and for the sellers. There is always a demand for well-maintained homes in a nice neighborhood if the price is right, and judging from the quick sale, yours was priced right. I like the red mulch. It adds to the well-maintained look.
Thank you Carolyn,
It really was a cute little house. My mom had lived in it 40 years, so it was really hard for her to leave it, but I think she has finally adjusted to Liberty Village.
Thanks for your sweet comments.
Blessings, Jeanne
Isn’t that wonderful that your mom’s house sold so quickly!! It did look like a sweet little house. I’m sure the new owners will love it. The new mulch is a perfect match.
I’m sure Cindy has big plans for the blue cabinet. I’m sure you’s share what she does with it.
Enjoy a relaxing weekend after all the hard work. 🙂
Thanks Laura,
Thanks for your kind compliments on momma’s house.
I have done a little relaxing too!
Blessings, Jeanne
It’s great to have you back making comments. Progress is good. We try for perfection, but looking at and for progress makes more sense. Maybe today you will have reached the tablecloth, and that will be a great thing.
HI Marilyn,
Well, I “almost” made it to the tablecloth, but not quite. I’m telling you that table was stacked high with stuff!
Thanks, Jeanne
