Today’s post brought to you by Reuben…

Sorry…no sewing OR sawing today…just something to make you smile!

Every night when it gets to be around 7:30, Reuben seems to know it’s time for Rebecca to arrive home. He starts watching for her and going from the chair to his stool by the window. I caught him in the chair tonight, looking out the dining room window, and looking just like a Pointer! His short little tail was moving just slightly from side to side. When he sees her car lights through the window he starts going ballistic, barking like crazy. We sometimes open the front door and he jumps up and down taking peeks out the glass to see when she’s walking to the door! When she comes in he’s all over her like he hasn’t seen her in weeks. This happens EVERY single night! Just thought I’d let Reuben entertain you today!

See you when I can,
Blessings, Jeanne

Quite a little character you have there, Jeanne, and he obviously LOVES Rebecca!

My second cataract surgery went pretty well, although the anesthesiologist over-sedated me and I slept thru the whole thing (which is not what the doctor wanted–he likes his patients to be awake so they can respond when he needs something, like looking this way or that) and also slept almost all day yesterday!! He took the little stitch out today, and that makes my eye feel Much better! I’m even doing better with reading the computer screen tonight!

Prayers continue for George and for you and the family, too.

    1. Hi Charlotte,
So glad your cataract surgery went well…you just had a little extra sleep time!
Reuben is nuts for Rebecca…when we see her drive up we say to him, “Your sister’s home!”
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Congratulations to Charlotte on being done with the cataract surgery. I did that a couple of years ago and it was lovely to be able to see clearly again. My brother-in-law just had one fixed with laser surgery. We’ll have to wait to see how his worked out.

Rebecca is the only one doing something interesting in your family. She comes and goes, while the rest of you just stay there and work and don’t even throw things to fetch, while Rebecca does exciting things, like come home. Someday soon George will return after surgery and that will be really exciting.

I’m waiting to see the over-sink light and the Savory pot, and I’ll bet there will be other new thrilling additions by your next post. I hope the dentist’s appointment went well and that there’s another call soon from George’s doctor. Nearly everything can be divided into two categories — in the case of experiences, there are those you want to do and those you want to be done with. Exciting as the kitchen is, I think you’ll be glad to be finished.

    1. WE did something interesting today…went back to Menards and picked up 2 new things…for the kitchen…a stainless steel trash can…YAY…and the garbage disposal. I don’t know why I’m so thrilled over them but I am!!!

Putting up my light over the sink is on George’s to do list…I hope he can hold out to get it put up…he probably thinks the garbage disposal is more important in case Kevin gets a chance to put the sink cabinet in…

I have a ways to go but when I look back at how far we’ve come, I can see the end.
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Oh, he is so cute! What a wonderful little chap to come home too. He must bring you many moments of joy.
Hope you have a good day!
    Take care —

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Reuben does bring lots of fun to our family. ..especially George. …
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. How sweet to see that picture of Rueben, Jeanne! Isn’t it funny how such a simple thing can be so important to a little dog? I do think that animals know what is important and what is not in life, even more so than a lot of humans. He certainly has grown to know and love “his” family, and much as you know and love him! A double win!

    1. Hi Linda,
Reuben certainly adds something special to our household. He absolutely adores both George and Rebecca. I come in a distant 3rd! Oh well, we can’t all be #1!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Rueben is so sweet. Our cat is like that with my hubby. She hears his van pull in and races to the front window and starts talking to him through the window when he stops in front of it for her. 😀

    1. Hi Christine,
Isn’t it fun to be so loved by our furry friends?
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Reuben is gorgeous! We should all be so fortunate to have someone in our lives that loves us so much!
Last year we adopted a German Shepherd from a Rescue in LA.. Bella is a “mama’s girl”.. she gets so excited when I come home (even from the grocery store) that she becomes airborne with joy!
She’s over 70 lbs so it’s quite adorable to see so much love … we are everything to them!

    1. Hi Shara,
Bella sounds wonderful and a lot like Reuben when he sees someone he loves.
They bring a lot of happiness to us, don’t they?
      Thanks Shara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Such a great companion. Sounds like Reuben wants to be sure all of his people are home for him. 🙂
Hope your dental visit went well.

    1. Hi Joy,
I survived the dental visit..it was just a cleaning but I’m such a big chicken!

I can’t imagine how excited Reuben will be when George returns home after his surgery.
I’ll have to hold him back somehow!
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

        1. Hi Joy,
The problem is the hospital is about 2 hours and 15 minutes away from us and Reuben would want to jump into his lap…probably not a good idea…but Rebecca can send him picures on my phone…he loves to get them from her from time to time.
          Thanks Joy,
          Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Dear Jeanne, that was a dog-gone cute story (pardon the pun – chuckle). It’s amazing how dogs have ESP, if only they could tell us what they know.
I hope you have a doll-lightful weekend (ugh -okay no more puns – laugh).

    1. Hi Dorothy,
      LOVED all the puns!
I don’t know if I’ll have a dolly filled weekend…probably a kitchen filled one, but one of these days my life will include dolls again.
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. That Rueben is one sweet dog. They are not only comfort but company too! I can relate to the Stainless Steel Trash can…I was happy to find an all white one when were remodeling. It’s those little things!
Still no date for surgery? It seems like “hurry up and wait applies” to some medical timelines.
    Have a good weekend…

    1. Hi Kathie,
I don’t know how I can be so excited over a trash can, but I am…our white plastic one was awful to keep clean…makes me wonder about a white kitchen…yikes…
We were given a date but we just got a call and it has to be changed. The waiting is definitely the worst!!!
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Your Reuben story reminded me of a faithful companion, long gone.
He was a (mostly) Rhodesian Ridgeback. His original name has vanished but he ended up being called Truff. for truffle hound, because he was a fantastic finder. When I was driving home from work around midnight, he would apparently become alert and indicate he wanted to exit the house. If he was outside he would just set off. When I got to the front gate, about 500 metres from the house, he would be waiting. Silently – he almost never barked. I felt very honored to be so important to him, for a large dog he was very gentle with babies and kids, he organized a ‘tribe’ and guarded them faithfully. I miss him still.
My current dogs are not of his calibre unfortunately.

I hate the dentist too, I believe they should pay me for attending. I once said I’d rather have a baby than a filling. He said “Make up your mind – I have to know how to adjust the chair” That made me laugh, a lot.

I love metal trash cans, haven’t seen one for years, the corrugated ones.
Or do you mean a straight sided indoor one?

Take care, let us nurture you.

    1. Hi Jane,
I LOVED your dentist story…I’ll have to remember that one. You had a pretty witty dentist there!
Truff sounds like a wonder companion and I’m sure he is missed. They really do become like family members don’t they?

The new trash can is a new sleek one for the inside in the kitchen. It is kind of tall and skinny and round and our bags we have now don’t seem to fit it very well…I’m going to have to check out the different sizes and see if there is something that might work better.
      Thanks Jane,
      Blessings, Jeanne
