Girls in White Dresses…

Things have been kind of boring as far as the work goes on my kitchen… I painted the wall on the right side of where my pantry will go. I primed the boards that will be used to make the trim around my window and back door. I bought the primer and paint for my cabinets. I sorted through some kitchen stuff and have a Goodwill box ready for the next time I go to town… See, what I mean…boring things that really aren’t picture worthy… Kevin and Keith might make it Monday or Tuesday evening, so maybe I’ll have something “kitchen-y” to show next time.

BUT…Linda sent some pictures that ARE worthy of showing. She loves to dress her dolls up and we all get to enjoy her pictures… We saw their Christmas dresses, their Valentine’s Day dresses, their Easter dresses and today you’ll get to enjoy her dolls dressed in their First Communion dresses. Linda’s church had First Communion on Sunday so Linda dresses her dolls along with the young girls at her church. They are SO adorable… I just had to show them…

If white’s not your color… how about some colorful Ballerina outfits? Aren’t they adorable? Thanks so much Linda!

Here’s Susan, Ruthie and Molly…

Betsy and Ivy too…

That’s it for today… hope it’s enough to keep you happy!

See you as soon as I can…
Blessings, Jeanne

I certainly enjoyed the pictures of Linda’s beautifully dressed dolls–thanks so much for sharing, Linda! I think my favorites are: first picture, Betsy’s dress–love the fabric! Second picture–Josefina’s elegant gown. Third picture–Susan’s “Swan Lake” ensemble. Fourth picture–Betsy’s outfit again (I love Betsy McCall!).

I still need to get my Little Darlings dressed in their smocked dresses (I have finished the seventh one at last!) and take some pictures, but the cataract surgeries have put me behind on some things because of the drops (3 x per day in each eye, for 3 weeks) and because my eyes haven’t “settled” yet, so vision issues are getting in my way (none of my glasses “work” just right, and it’s too soon for a new prescription!).

    1. HI Charlotte,
I’m sure everyone is enjoying Linda’s doll pictures today! She does a great job of dressing them no matter what the season or holiday!
Just think how wonderful it’s going to be when you get all your girls dressed and you can SEE them clearly! It’s going to be great!!
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Oh boy, here we go! I’m the first one to comment, and what can I say? Thank you for showing my girls, I have a lot of fun with dressing them, and showing them off, I guess you might say!
I’ll be looking forward to seeing other friends dolls sometime on the blog. It certainly helps us all to appreciate what we have and to get ideas from others. Your dresses are so inspirational, Jeanne, and I just love the idea of waking up to cute pictures of dolls to make my day enjoyable!

      1. Thanks so much Linda,
It’s obvious you enjoy dressing your girls each time… you put a lot of thought into each outfit and it shows! They all look so pretty in their white dresses with flowers in their hair.
Well, I haven’t had any doll dresses to show lately… at least “new” dresses… but one of these days I might surprise you all! I can dream can’t I?
Thanks for helping with today’s post!
        Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Thanks, Jeanne, for sharing Linda’s wonderful collection with all of us. My favorite dress is on Cecile as it reminds me of a picture I have of my mother wearing something similar in the 1930s. Is it an American Girl dress? What a nice collection of rosaries, too, for the little girls. Your collection continues to amaze and inspire me. I always see dresses I’d like to track down for the collection I started rather late. Now Linda has me into ballet outfits. I’m looking forward to seeing Charlotte’s seven smocked dresses.
About Reuben and pets yesterday, when I helped out my son for three weeks when he had a seriously broken leg, after I left, his cat stationed herself up on the sofa and looked out the window for hours and days. He wondered why, but his girlfriend told him she was looking for me as she’d never done that before.
I think perhaps George’s surgery requires a team of specialized surgeons to be in attendance or on call, so that may be the hold up. Hopefully it will be scheduled very soon.

    1. HI Susette,
I have to agree, Cecile does look awfully sweet in her dress with the pink bows at the sides…
I forgot to tell Charlotte, I too, want to see her 7 smocked dresses on her girls… that will be a post in itself!
I bet your son’s kitty WAS looking for you! They are pretty smart, aren’t they?

We are still waiting to hear all the details about my hubby’s surgery. I will confess, the waiting is AWFUL… I don’t like it one bit!
      Thanks Susette,
      Blessings to you,
      Jeanne

  4. I love these pictures. I’ve always admired Jeanne’s talent with hair, but Linda does a super job too. I especially admire Ruthie’s hair in the ballet picture. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Ruthie look better. Everyone looks beautiful. I also really like Ruthie’s communion dress
I also like the “girls in white dresses” theme. There are pictures of Queen Victoria’s daughters in white dresses with plaid sashes.
I have to agree with Charlotte that Josefina’s gown is wonderful. Like Susette, I want to see the smocked dresses. There must be someone who doesn’t like smocking, but I’ve never met them.
I love the way pictures show up on Jeanne’s blog — I think a lot of us see the blog in different formats. For me, things that Jeanne says are on the side are at the bottom of the screen and the pictures fill the screen from side to side, so they are always spectacular and beautifully detailed.
I also really liked Susette’s cat story. The cat must have really liked having you there — entertainment and company all day — what could be nicer?
I’ll look forward to new kitchen news soon. I want to see your paint choice, the trim on the window, the Savory pan, the over the sink light. There’s always something good happening on the blog.

    1. HI Marilyn,
You must be easy to please… if waiting for me to announce my paint color, a peek at my Savory pan, wondering about the window trim, and guessing what kind of light will be over the sink, makes your day! I think I’m like you too… it’s the simple things that I like best.
I will share all those things soon… Kevin is coming Tuesday night, so George and I are working on the garbage disposal…
We’ve had lots of steady rain and my master bathroom ceiling is leaking… UGH! I’ve got 4 buckets in there catching the water… We have a flat roof over that section of the house, so there isn’t much we can do about it until it stops raining and someone can go up there and see if they can figure out where the leak is coming from…
I did a double take on Ruthie in the ballet picture myself. She looks stunning to me and I think it’s her hair. It does look beautiful and very sweet on her!
      Thanks Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Well, it may sound boring, but all you have been up to with your kitchen is great progress. There are so many details that need to be completed. As you know, that cabinet paint choice is a biggie. How’s the hardware coming along? Can’t wait to see that.
I’m sure Susette is correct in why the wait for that important surgery date. Hope it is decided soon.
Linda’s girls are simply lovely. I too like Josefina’s and Cecile’s, but all of the dresses have their merits. Such wonderful photos. Thanks to Linda and you for sharing.
    Take care.

    1. HI Joy,
There ARE lots of details that are still prep work and not very interesting or exciting to show. I did find myself looking at knobs and pulls last night… now that’s a BIG decision and I’m not sure what I want! That makes it even harder to decide! I need to go to Hobby Lobby and see what they have… they usually have things that catch my eye… I’ve just never looked at their stuff with new white cabinets in mind…
I’m glad you enjoyed looking at Linda’s girls in their white dresses too… It’s fun to see lots of the same color dresses in one picture. It looks like Cecile might be one of the top sweethearts of the group! She is very beautiful.
      Thanks so much Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. I so enjoyed seeing Linda’s pictures. That’s a lot of hard work dressing the girls but it is so wonderful to see them all dressed up in the different outfits. The First Communion outfits are just beautiful and the detail and accessories are wonderful!!

Jeanne, can’t wait to see more kitchen pictures and what else you have done.

Our backyard was not done on our condo so the work for that has started and our windows and house are full of a fine dirt and sand. I’m sure our neighbors will be glad when we’re done because the dirt has surely blown in the wind everywhere.

    1. HI Paula,
So glad you enjoyed the white dresses today too! I think Linda deserves a big round of applause for getting her girls dressed like she did! They really are a pretty bunch of girls!

We have a fine layer of grit and dust on just about everything at our house too… I am just waiting until we are closer to being done before tackling it.. there’s no sense in dusting now when there is still more to be done that will make more dust. Maybe I’m lazy or maybe I’m just smart! :o) Who knows…
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Dear Jeanne, what lovely photos. Linda’s girls are so well behaved (smile).
I am looking for a princess dress for my Little Darling. These ensembles are helping to visualize it.
When your kitchen is done we will all come over and celebrate (well, in spirit) and make a toast with our teacups! You might want to stock up on English Breakfast Tea because a ton of us will be there (chuckle).

    1. HI Dorothy,
I hope you find just the right princess dress for your Little Darling!
You are so funny… “stock up on Tea because there will be a ton of us there!” Oh how I wish that could happen… but I still plan on having the “best tea party with cake” you’ve ever seen over the internet! I better get to planning it now! :o)
      Thanks so much Dorothy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Oh how sweet! I love the little rosaries. The white dresses are so pretty, and so nice to commemorate first communion. I like the ballet outfits too, I noticed even the dog had a tutu around his neck.
Jeanne, I hope you are experiencing some progress in your kitchen. I know you must be anxious to have it all done! I have supper in the Instant Pot, and it smells so good! As usual, I have cooked too much. I wish you were closer so I could share it with you. I think I will see if my neighbor wants half of it.

    1. Hi Carolyn,
I’m glad you enjoyed Linda’s dolls all dressed up…in their fanciest dresses as well as their dance outfits! They certainly are sweet, aren’t they?
We might get the rest of the cabinets in Tuesday night….that will be exciting!!!
I hope you found someone to share your soup with!
      Thanks Carolyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  9. It’s been a busy, busy day and I’m just getting to see your blog, Jeanne. What a treat to see Linda’s girls all dressed up. All the First Communion dresses are lovely, but I find Josefina’s just amazing and next in line would be the one Susan (#21) is wearing. I think it’s great you have the time to set up such darling scenes.
The ballet outfits are really cute as well and Coconut with the ruffle around her neck is darling.
I hope Charlotte will share her smocked dresses as well. They sound absolutely precious..

    1. Hi Laura,
I thought that was Coconut, but forgot ask Linda…he had to get in on the fashion show I guess. So glad you enjoyed them…I sure did!

      Wow…7 new smocked dresses…I can’t wait either!!!
      Thank you Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  10. Hi Jeanne,
Love the Girls all dressed in white! You know how I enjoy seeing photo’s and Linda’s Girls are dressed beautifully. Thank you for sharing. Glad to hear work continues on the kitchen, before you know it you’ll have it completed… I’m so excited for you!
I really enjoyed your story about Reuben, he’s so darn cute! He seems like the perfect fit for your family.
    Continued prayers
    Hugs
    Ingrid

    1. Hi Ingrid,
I hope you had a lovely visit with your son in the Carolinas…
Linda does have the sweetest set ups for her dolls, doesn’t she? I think everyone enjoyed them…
My kitchen might get the addition of the base cabinets tomorrow night…I can’t wait to see what that will look like. Slowly but surely my kitchen is being transformed!!! Pretty soon it’ll be time to decorate!! :o)
      Thanks Ingrid,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  11. Charlotte Trayer

Sounds like I need to get busy and get my girls ready for their photo shoot! I’m hoping my eyes will be “settled” soon, so I can get new glasses, and finally be able to really See what I’m doing!! I did manage a little sewing today, but vision is still iffy post-cataract surgeries, and sometimes I end up with a headache from it. But, in two weeks I’ll be going to have my vision checked and a new lens prescription–hooray!

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Ok…just say the word when you get your girls all dressed up and I’ll feature them in a post! I pray your eyes would settle down quickly and you’ll soon be back better than ever!!
      Thanks Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  12. I just want to pop in to say a big “Thank You” for the lovely compliments on my dolls! It certainly makes it worthwhile for me, and I hope I gave some of you some ideas. It’s a labor of love for me, and I certainly am thankful to Jeanne for showing them!

    1. Hi Linda,
I think everyone LOVED seeing your girls dressed up and THANK YOU for sharing them with me! They are just lovely and you have a very nice touch with your displaying them. Each one is sweeter than the next!
      Thanks so much Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  13. How pretty are those young ladies in their white dresses. I think they are my favorite memory when I went to Catholic School. I have my Communion dress & veil, my confirmation dress and 3 May Procession dresses all made by my amazing aunt. That rosary are just beautiful. All the dolls including the ballerina’s are adorable. I can’t wait to see those smocked dresses as they are my favorite type of girly dresses.

The kitchen is coming along slowly but surely and before you know it we will be having a fantastic tea party. I can’t wait to see what you have in the plans.

Hope you hear news concerning George’s surgery. The waiting is so difficult. Seems like we are in the same boat with the rain. We have very heavy rain here last Tuesday. I live in a Condo and one minute everything was fine and a hour later I had walked into my bedroom and one half of the ceiling and down the walls were dripping water. Went to call maintenance and discovered that it was also coming down the dining room walls. I live on the second floor and those 2 walls are connected. I don’t know what smells worse…a wet dog or wet plaster. Now the wait for it to dry before it can be repaired. Hope you get to find out what is causing yours.

    1. Hi Sandra,
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the dresses on Linda’s dolls. I thought they were awfully cute!
My cabinets are all in now! I’m so excited but there is still plenty to do. It’s wonderful looking at my new and very stylish cabinets.
Oh how awful to have your roof cave in. I can’t even imagine. Our bathroom leaked for a full day and then it finally stopped. We can’t quite figure it out, when it sprinkles or lightly rains , the roof in the bathroom and sometimes the dining room leaks, like crazy. Then when it absolutely pours buckets, it doesn’t drip a bit. It’s pretty puzzling. ..
I hate to think of this being a problem after my hubby’s surgery, so we may need to get to the bottom of it soon…
      Thanks Sandra,
      Blessings, Jeanne
