Thank you, everyone, for all your wonderful comments….I hate that I wasn’t able to answer everyone like I usually do, but my day was too long…again.
You all were so sweet with your comments and I hope you’ll hang around just a little bit longer… I just added 4 new subscribers and hope you will keep reading my posts…sewing will surely be coming soon!!! :o)
Not everyone feels the way I do, but I love painted wood trim and especially when it’s white. It could be because we’ve lived in several old houses and paint covered up a multitude of sins…but I think I just love it because it looks old fashioned and I’m pretty old fashioned in a lot of ways.
There’s no telling how many coats of paint were on the trim in this kitchen… probably more than anyone could count, but even with all the old paint drips, the globs of paint at the ends of the trim pieces, brush hairs embedded in the previous coats, and probably even some dirt painted over, it still looks wonderful with this new coat on top.
We got quite a bit done today…trash of all kinds was hauled out of the basement and taken to the dump…500 pounds (and $61) of junk!!!
The first outlet was connected to power and gave us some much needed light.
I painted all the walls a second time and touched up the cove mold trim at the top.
We added 2 decorative pieces of trim in 2 different places. It really finished off the top of the brick board.
Here’s one last look at that icky floor that will forever be transformed tomorrow!
The last thing we did before we left, was paint the floor with Kilz primer…just to make it cleaner because next up is THE FLOOR!!! My phone died before I could get a picture of how nice and clean the floor looked all white…
It’s the same Loose Lay flooring as what we put down, only in a different color….Foxwood.
Well, the weather cooperated and I got the pictures loaded…by midnight!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
The kitchen is coming along beautifully, Jeanne! Can’t wait to see the new floor!
Hope you get some time for yourself tomorrow–even if it’s just to sit down and relax with a book for a few minutes!
Oh Jeanne, this is going to be just beautiful when it gets finished! I, too, love white woodwork, and the woodwork in that kitchen is beautiful! You don’t see trim like that in newer houses, and you pay a pretty penny to get it now. How did you mange to load up that truck with all this rain, or were you not getting it?
I hope you get some time today to yourself, just a little bit, like Charlotte says. We will still be here tomorrow!
Chiming in too, hoping that you can get some inner refreshment somehow, Jeanne….but, perhaps just seeing the kitchen look oh so spanking clean and neat and tidy (and white painted trim!) can keep your inner self going. The kitchen is looking magnificent. What a glorious change for it. The ladies and gents who will work in it when it’s finished should feel great too. I think it’s all wonderful. Thanks for sharing the journey with us.
Blessings.
Your church kitchen looks better and better. Whenever you show a brick wall picture, I look carefully for your spackling and painting. It says a lot that I have to really look for it. Details really do make a difference and details are one of your many strong points. Everyone is going to appreciate all your work.
I’m betting against your having time to yourself unless you are marking floor “boards” in a different corner from where George is cutting them. I am hoping you are done in time for a nice, hot, no effort dinner.
Congratulations on and to your new subscribers.
Well, the church house is certainly located in a beautiful older neighborhood. Loved seeing the photo of the loaded truck with the old home and possibly a brick church in the background. Neat.
All of the paint and the brick look board have paid off in the complete revision of the old space. Well done. Amazing what a tiny piece of molding will do to finish the board look. Everything looks wonderful.
I remember how much time you and George spent laying down your own floor, so hope you are getting a few volunteers to help you with this one. Can’t wait to see the foxwood.
As to our do it yourself project, the toilet is no longer leaking. But the heater is another story. The blinking codes can mean a number of things. Most of which we don’t want to tackle. Think we’re going to fork for a heater person.
The kitchen looks great !! Already light and airy and now ready for the floor. I can’t wait to see the new flooring.
Like you, I love white woodwork. Back in the 80’s, my husband built our home and it had natural wood trim and paneling stained a rusty color with a darker color of brick used for the fireplace and the outside of the house. It was so “in” back in the 80’s but I wasn’t that crazy about it and finally got to the point where I no longer wanted it. By then we started renovating and painting things a lighter color which was amazing and no longer dated looking.
I found my decorations just looked better with the lighter wood and the house lightened up immensely.
You know we’re all waiting for YOUR kitchen remake. The beadboard promises to be so very interesting.
Can’t wait to see the foxwood flooring.
It is said that the fruits of success always grow on the tree of hard work, and you and George have certainly worked hard, Jeanne! As with your dolly designs, it is wonderful to see the church kitchen coming together. What a bright and inviting space it will be in which to work, and what an encouraging vision it should be for your own forthcoming new kitchen. I hope a celebratory dinner is planned to thank you, George, Dana, and all those who helped make this dream a reality. Looking forward to the follow-up to “Kitchens 101!”
The kitchen looks so updated, clean and pretty. Can’t wait to see the new floor, appliances and counters! Hope you don’t wear out before you get to do your own☺️??
White woodwork is so lovely. Our sunroom is painted a almost periwinkle blue with white woodwork. I like to think of it as the room of perpetual summer. The kitchen is really going to look fantastic when all is said and done. Can’t wait to see everything all finished.
Your church kitchen looks so bright and welcoming. I love painted wood trim too, I think it just looks so crisp and clean. Really like the trim piece you put on top of the brick – you never overlook any details, be it remodeling or sewing.
Like everyone else, I can’t wait to see the flooring and appliances. Hope you and George have a good night.
