I first have to give credit to Anne for the title of this dress set. I remembered the name, because I had written it down back on February 7th, when we were all discussing the pink dress I showed on Kirsten.
Everyone was popping out “Pink” names and I was writing them down for future titles. I didn’t remember who had mentioned “First Blush of Spring,” but as I was getting ready to list Molly’s dress set tonight, I looked back in my comments and found it was from Anne! Thanks SO much! I think it’s really fitting for this dress!
Boy, oh, boy, it’s taken me quite some time to get this dress for Molly listed!! I was having trouble with the lighting in my sewing room and tried several different places in my house. I just couldn’t get the colors to work out and either Molly looked like she had been in the sun for days or her dress was totally washed out and you couldn’t see the pretty and dainty fabric. I decided it was never going to work in my house, so I waited for a nice day outside and was going to take “outdoor” pictures… Then we got hit with days and days of rain and wind and storms. I kept waiting and finally this morning it looked like it might happen. But as I gathered up what I needed to go outside, the wind began to blow and it was quite windy. I did take Molly outside, but I realized pretty quickly that it was never going to work outside today. Molly’s hair was blowing all over the place and her dress was too.
So I came back inside and was determined to find a place in my house where I could get some decent pictures. I tried next to my sewing machine, where I have two south windows that let in a lot of light. Nope… too bright. I tried on the fireplace, but the sun was shining too brightly in there and her dress was all faded out. I tried on the dining room table and finally I thought I could get some okay shots there. I placed my pink chenille fabric down on the table for a “rug” again and then put Samantha’s Scenes and Settings book behind Molly. I was snapping pictures as fast as I could because I didn’t know when the sun might start streaming in the window and ruin everything. It seemed to be working and I was elated! Finally after probably 2 weeks, I had pictures I could use.
So…without further ado… here are some pictures of Molly in her dress, showing it pretty much as it really is. The fabric is so dainty and sweet, I just wasn’t ready to settle for mediocre pictures for my auction. You can click on the picture at the top right side bar and that will take you to the Ebay listing, or you can click HERE to see it. Ebay has changed things up again and you’ll have to click that little box with the blue writing that says, “See full item description” to see my full listing. I hope her dress has been worth the wait.
Now, it’s time to move on to another dolly dress… hmmm… I wonder who it will be?
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
This is a lovely dress and your photos look good, so I went to Ebay to check and they look appealing there as well. I think you’ve done it. You and Molly are going to sell this dress. It’s a beautiful dress and someone is going to love it.
Let’s see, I’ve cast my vote for your newest LD for the next Easter dress. My alternate candidate is going to be Addy. To get the next dress to its new owner, you need it listed by what, the 14th? If nothing gets in the way — and that would be truly remarkable — that should be easy enough. The next fun part is choosing the fabric. Let’s see if you do that today. There’s always something nice to look forward to on this blog.
Thanks Marilyn,
It took quite a while to get the pictures just right but I think they’re finally good!
I haven’t really had a chance to decide who’s going to be next, but whoever it is, is going to be one of the few dolls that get a dress for Easter. Oh, how I wish I had more time to sew…but it is what it is!
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Very beautiful, gentle outfit!
Thank you, Oksana…I’m glad you like Molly’s dress!

Maybe something different to go with a Kanani or Nanea doll and do a Hawaiian style Holoku dress (but with a higher neckline to hide the cloth to plastic neck joining? https://www.americangirl.com/shop/ag/nanea-holoku-dress-for-18-inch-dolls-ffc15 You probably have some great scraps you could put one together with. Or maybe a pretty nightgown or pj set? Or a fun raincoat for the spring showers?
Hi Christal,
I looked at that dress for Nanea and it’s really pretty…almost looks like a Regency dress…
We’ll see who gets to be next.
Blessings, Jeanne
Goodness, what an adventure it was to get Molly’s outfit listed, Jeanne! But you did it and she looks just adorable! I especially like that last picture, the close up of her, with the side of the bonnet that has a flower. What a darling outfit, that I am sure will be a special dress for someone.
Yes, I think a LD outfit would be a good one to do next. I especially like it when you go from one era to another, one kind of a doll to another. It keeps us guessing and keeps things fresh with anticipation. I think it would be fun to see a dress in the style of Little Bo-Peep for a LD doll, a frilly little dress, with matching pantelettes showing below the dress, a big bonnet, and in dainty springlike colors. You will probably get plenty of ideas for the next dress, but only you know what will work best.
It looks like our few sunny days are over for the time, but I do think spring is around the corner!
Hi Linda,
It truly was an adventure getting these pictures taken, and I’m so glad they turned out as well as they did! I was beginning to have some doubts!
I’ve always wanted to do a series of storybook doll dresses…Little Bo Peep would be fun to replicate!
I’m hoping you are right about Spring!
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Your pictures of Molly turned out beautifully, Jeanne–well worth the extra time and effort you put into them!!
Hi Charlotte,
I hope you’re having fun at Expo!!!

Jeanne,
Your work is always worth the wait. Thanks for making Molly wait for just the right moment to take the photos. I know that some upcoming doll will be glad to wear the beautiful garment and accessories.
Blessings.
Thank you, Becky,
I’m glad you like Molly’s new dress! She does too!

What a beautiful ensemble and so aptly named. I love “first blush of spring”. I think we might even be experiencing the first blush of spring here in Michigan, although it is supposed to snow a bit tomorrow.
Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us through pictures and words. You are an inspiration.
May God bless your creativity today:)
Thank you so much, Lynn,
I’m glad you like First Blush of Spring! I thought that title was perfect for the dainty color it is! Oh no, not more snow!!! Surely it must be about ready for trees to bud out! Oh wait…that’s just me! :o)
I am happy to share what I love to do with everyone! Thanks so much for your kind words!
Blessings, Jeanne
So pretty! Very well named:)
Thanks Shara!
Blessings, Jeanne
I think your pictures turned out great. I can sympathize with your frustrations, I ALWAYS have a hard time getting good pictures of pink and red items. For some reason my camera can’t process those tones, no matter how I change my settings or the sun angle. Anyway, this is a darling outfit and I love the bonnet!
P.S. The kitchen looks wonderful, you, your husband, and your friend are a good team.
HI Debi,
Red always gives me fits, but this pink was unexpected! It’s just so pretty, I really wanted to capture how sweet it truly is! I’m glad you enjoyed the “journey” of this one!
We worked in the kitchen today and got the granite countertops in! Yay!
Thanks Debi,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, that Molly. Such a sweetheart. Love the scenes/settings too. This is a great outfit.
Thank you Jeanne for forwarding and Susette for the info on the wonderful Chinese outfit for the AG’s.
Finally had a moment to visit our local junk store yesterday and came home with a few fun things. I didn’t realize that the mini AG’s came with a tiny meet book. Picked up one (book only) for Josefina that is adorable and a mini golden book, Scuffy the Tugboat. My dollies read a lot. Also ran across someone’s egg cup collection. Picked up two adorable ones from the 30’s or 40’s. Nothing I brought home was over fifty cents. Love that.
Thanks so much Joy! Molly totally agrees with you… and she thinks she gets to keep it! Poor girl…
Oh, I want to go junk shopping too… :o( Don’t you just LOVE it when you find a bargain?
Thank you Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, I love how the shrug turned out. She looks so cute!
Thank you Dorothy,
I am glad I made a vest instead of a jacket… it would have been too bunchy inside her sleeves! Glad you like it!
Blessings, Jeanne
Molly’s outfit is so sweet and adorable. Perfect name for her outfit. She looks so pretty in it.
Again, your talent in doll clothes is amazing!
Thank you Paula,
So happy you like Molly’s outfit! What’s amazing is that I got those pictures taken! :o)
Thanks so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
Who hoo! Worth the wait! She looks ready to walk out the door to Church or a Party. How did you decide on the hat? I’d love to be inside that creative head of yours when you get these ideas.
The lighting is just right…colors are perfect! Hope it does well for you!
HI Kathie,
Well, let’s see… how did it go in my head? I didn’t want just a ribbon, and I thought there needed to be something more than a headband…I didn’t want it to look a baby bonnet, and I liked the brim tipped up…so I just started cutting the wool felt and once I did the scallops, I realized I could put it on a half bonnet and then the decorating came easy. I’m also not a huge fan of big bows tied under the dolls chin, so I decided to do it with snaps and a pre tied bow on one side…. so that’s how it went in my head!
There… that’s how I did it! :o)
Thanks Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
Molly’s dress set is so sweet and definitely worth the wait. So glad to see that you finally had time to take pictures, but I’m Sure Molly didn’t mind getting to wear it a little longer first.
I hope that we’ll see that Civil War dress in this fabric next. Always love to see those!!
Yes, I hope spring is coming soon, the winter has been very trying in more ways than one.
HI Laura,
I’m glad the wait wasn’t too long for you…and that you enjoyed it! Molly DID enjoy the extra time in the dress…
So you want the Civil War dress to be next? hmmmm…. what to do and who to do it on… :o)
Thanks Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
Beautiful pictures, Jeanne, and a beautiful outfit that heralds spring with every dainty detail! Molly looks SO sweet in her special Easter attire, and I’m glad you found the title to be a fitting description. Your pink chenille “rug” and new scenic backdrop make a perfect display that showcases “First Blush of Spring” in all its glory. Congratulations on this long-awaited listing, Jeanne, and may the coming of spring allow you more time to do what you love!
Hi Anne,
I was hoping you’d see the post today and know that I used your title for Molly’s dress. It really is the perfect name for this set! Thanks!
With Spring coming, I am certainly hoping to find more time for sewing. We got quite a bit done on the church kitchen today, so that project is coming to an end…Yay…then mine will be next, but it will be easier doing it at home, without interruptions aND no real deadline.
Thanks Anne,
Blessings, Jeanne
