I’m so sorry I didn’t make it to your comments yesterday. I wanted to answer you all so much, but my day was just too busy. I’m still trying to catch up on things around here. I even helped my hubby put in a toilet at the church! Bet you didn’t expect that, did you?
You all say the kindest things…thank you so much! :o)
Saturday, my mailman drove up and had a couple of packages for me. One was a padded Kraft envelope and also a white box. Rebecca told me she was expecting something, so I figured it was for her. As soon as I collected the mail from him, my son drove up in his truck. I introduced him to my mailman and said, “Toby is the best mailman ever. He takes good care of the dolls that I sometimes get.” We came inside and Kristoffer took the Kraft envelope and said,”hey, this one is for me!” When he took that one off, I noticed the box underneath was addressed to me. I hadn’t ordered anything, so I glanced at the return address and saw it was from one of my dear blog subscribers. Okay, I won’t lie, my heart started racing a little bit… then a LOT, when I saw this…
If you’ve ever gotten a doll and seen their feet sticking out, it’s a thrilling moment…thing is…I hadn’t ordered her…I read the sweet and touching Christmas card, and learned she was a gift to me…”oh, my goodness” is just what I said too!!! :o) Thank you, dearest __________! She will be treasured by me!!
She is a 10″ Boneka doll, sculpted by Dianna Effner and repainted by Stella Tu.
I’m not familiar with her painting the dolls but she’s awfully cute…she looks just a teeny bit scared…(sometimes it looks like she has tears in her eyes), but who wouldn’t be, shipped in a bag to a new house filled with lots of naked girls on a shelf. A few of them have made friends with her already. I have sweet girls!
She is a one of a kind and her Certificate of Authenticity didn’t have a name written in, SO… since she is a Christmas gift, I decided to name her Holly. She is a Monday’s Child doll and is just slightly taller than Noel, my Tuesday’s Child Boneka doll. I thought it was cute to have a Noel (already named when I got her) and a Holly! :o)
She came with a long brown mohair wig and the cutest pair of pink sandals. She was dressed in a sweet cotton print dress but the “gifter” also sent along a second dress and shoes. It’s adorable and that hand embroidery is incredible! Noel said she’d be happy to model them for me… :o)
I guess most doll people start seeing what other wigs they have that will work for the new “girls” and I did just that.. I found a few and thought I’d show you how Holly’s looks change in each one.
Well, that’s my biggest news on the dolly front… tell me if you have any news to share.
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
A new doll for Christmas, Jeanne, how exciting! She is really a sweet little doll, and I’m sure she will just love living with you and all the rest of the dolls! How generous of the giver!
What is the difference in Boneka dolls and Little Darlings? Can they wear the same size clothes? They do look similar, and I’m thinking that there is going to be quite a Christmas celebration in your sewing room with all those pretty girls lined up on the shelves!
Thanks Linda
She is really a little cutie and she’ll fit in fine with my other girls.
The Boneka dolls are 10″ and the Little Darlings are 13″. The Boneka dolls are generally considered the little sisters.
I am so blessed to have new girl that I wasn’t even dreaming of!!
Blessings, Jeanne
What perfect timing for a dolly present for you, after a sometimes-tough week!! I’ll say thanks to whoever sent it, also–you really deserved a treat!
Little Holly is just adorable, with such a sweet little face. It was fun to see the different wigs on her, too.
I do love red hair, and probably have a disproportionate number of redheads among my dolls, and normally I’m really Not a fan of sausage curls, but I don’t know, that brown wig with the sausage curls just seems to suit her somehow!! It really surprises me to say that, but there you go, for what it’s worth.
Maybe after Christmas I’ll think about getting a Boneka doll–I keep seeing so many cute ones–and my girls need a little sister, right?! LOL
Hi Charlotte,
Yes, I’d say Holly was quite the Christmas treat! She was a wonderful surprise!!
I’m not a huge fan of sausage curls eother, but I thought she looked pretty sweet on this one…
Yes, there are lots of Boneka dolls on Ebay right now. More than I’ve ever seen… yes, you DO need a little sister for your girls…
Blessings, Jeanne
Holly has such a sweet face. She does look a little thoughtful to me. What an amazing gift!
I think all the different wigs look good on her. It’s good to have the kind of face that allows for so much versatility. I’m looking forward to seeing her modeling.
No interesting news from me. Maybe tomorrow.
Hope you have a good day!
Take care –
HI Charlotte,
Absolutely, Holly was an amazing gift… I am so humbled that she was sent to me… It is fun to be able to change a dolls looks with the change of a wig. She’s got a slightly bigger head than Noel, so they can’t share wigs… but I have a few Ellowyne wigs that will work.
Thank you Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
Holly is so sweet looking. I really love the red wig on her but also the brown with the curls suits her pretty well. With that wig, she reminds me of little girls dressed in Victorian clothes. I’ve seen a few Christmas cards with little girls looking like Holly.
What a nice gift, Jeanne. How really thoughtful from your blogger.
Things are starting to get busy for, I’m sure everyone. Preparing for Christmas and packing for our trip is keeping me busy. My poor girls in the doll room haven’t seen me for weeks it seems. Wait till they see my Christmas gift to them, shhh…. Mary Ellen’s Seaside Cafe…it arrived ( and it was on sale! ). The girls from the 50’s will really love it. Surely, there’s a good story behind the origin of the diner….I must think of a good one !!
HI Paula,
I can’t believe I was the recipient of sweet Holly. It’s nice that Noel now has a sister her size. They’ll be best friends I’m sure! I love little Victorian kids on Christmas cards… and just pictures in general. :o)
Yes, I’m pretty busy myself… I’m leaving in about 20 minutes to go help a friend get the food items ready for the church Staff Christmas Party tomorrow night… lots of things to do!
Your girls are all gonna scream when they see the cafe… how much fun are they going to have with that???
Thanks Paula,
Blessings, Jeanne
* sorry – I’ve seen a few Victorian Christmas cards with little girls looking like Holly in the picture on front.
Wow, that was a really nice surprise! Such a sweet one. I’m with the brownish wig or the one in which she arrived as the red just doesn’t seem to go with her lip color. Just my opinion. Her dress is very sweet too. Looks like fun times at your place.
And Paula got the Seaside Cafe. Would love to see that.
My last dolly was a Sylvia Natterer Petitcollin named Eline. She is very close in size to the Little Darlings and much less expensive. Maru and Friends has a preorder for a Mini Maru Jamie which I am considering. Also Linda Macario at Jpop has the cutest little dolls called Cupcakes on preorder also. You should definitely take a look as they are sweet things. Decisions, decisions.
HI Joy,
Her lips are pretty pink.. I may take a water color pencil and try to tone them down just ab bit.. or at least give them some definition. Then she might be able to wear the red wig…
I had to go look at Jamie after you mentioned it… She is a cutie too… let me know if you get her… we want to see pictures! (you know, just so we can live vicariously through you!) I didn’t let myself look at Linda’s dolls…I don’t think I have ever seen one I didn’t want!
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a beautiful gift. I know that you will be a perfect mommy for her with all your skills and kindness. She is such a sweet girl. I actually like the red wig, but then redheads are my favorite. My best friend and oldest daughter are both redheads.
Awwww, thank you Kathleen. I hope Holly likes it here… I think she will!
I’m a bit partial to red heads as both of my kids are! My mom takes all the credit for their hair!
Thanks Kathleen,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, forgot to mention, My oldest daughter’s name is Holly Amber. 🙂 Kathleen
How pretty… mine might be Holly Grace!
Blessings, Jeanne
Dear Jeanne, You are clearly on Santa’s “nice” list and your gifts are coming even before Christmas! How wonderful to receive a new doll and how doubly wonderful that she be a surprise! I can’t wait to see what adventures Holly and Noel will have.
Thank you Dorothy,
It’s fun to have 2 “little girls” the same size… (well, almost the same size…) It was really a fun surprise and I Hope I’m not the only one who gets one! :o)
I’ll have to think up some good adventures for the girls!
Thanks Dorothy,

What a wonderful gift from a special follower. Thanks from all of us for blessing Jeanne with your thoughtfulness and generosity. Holly has a darling little face. I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time sewing for such a sweetie.
Thank you Susette,
She really is a little sweet girl and I hope she likes it here! Thank you for your kind comments too, Susette! I wish I were sewing tonight, but I’m working on a dinner for the Staff Christmas party tomorrow night… (with a friend). Once again, my sewing is taking a back seat…to my life! :o)
Thanks Susette,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a sweetie Holly is and I’m so glad that Noel is a good friend and welcomed her. You’re getting to have a whole group of Diana Effner dolls now that Holly makes five. A new doll for Christmas is certainly exciting and I’m sure you’ll think up beautiful dresses for her.
HI Laura,
Oh dear, you’ve lost count… I have 4 Little Darlings… Isabelle, Janie, Lian, Emmie, Noel and now Holly… I think I’m up to 6 now! EEK!
It was very exciting and I highly recommend it! :o)
Thanks Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
What better Christmas gift than a new doll! Especially when it is a complete surprise. I like Holly, she’s very pretty. I also like seeing how different she looked in the other wigs. No news from me; I’m super busy trying to get all the costs closed out for the year at work, and I’m currently doing most of my shopping online.
HI Carolyn,
I might need some tips on shopping online, as my days are getting filled with things to do and no time for Christmas shopping seems to be opening up!
Noel LOVES having Holly for a sister… Me too!
Thanks so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
