I wonder if a Reticule was the Vera Bradley of Colonial times?

Felicity likes her new Reticule and was very pleased I made it for her. She didn’t want a teddy bear or a bouquet of flowers for her accessory. She said matter of factly…ONLY a Reticule would do! I’m glad she wanted one because it’s the last item this dress set needed! Something with a little pop of color. I made it in a blue linen fabric to pick up the blue in the fabric and hand embroidered a few flowers on it. It has a drawstring that pulls from both sides and there is a quarter inside to weight it down…and hang better. :o) (I forgot to pull the knots on the coral colored ribbon to the inside before I took these pictures.) oops! And I see a thread that needs to be snipped off on the stitching… oops again.

I hope you like it… I hope you don’t mind that it wasn’t green… I didn’t want it to be “matchy matchy!”

Have a wonderful Saturday!

See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. You are now up to the picture taking session? Congratulations! This has been a fairly long but very rewarding trip and I hope you are very pleased with the results.
I’m hoping for a nice sunny day for you so that maybe you can try some outdoor pictures and maybe you can try a few with Nora or Eden to show off that beautiful print on a dark haired doll.
Or none of us would mind if this turned out to be a cabinet hunting day, with you and George finding 3 sets of shining clean cabinets, each with its own virtues and reasonably priced, and having to make some choices.
Whatever happens, have a lovely peaceful weekend and we’ll see you early Monday morning.

    1. HI Marilyn,
Well, there are still those pesky snaps to be sewn on… I just didn’t mention that they hadn’t been sewn on yet… sorry! No post on Ebay tonight…, momma duties today!
It would be a nice dress for some outside pics… I’ll have to check the weather and see what’s happening around here.
Well, it wasn’t a cabinet hunting day, but it was a ceiling beadboard hunting day… just some ideas to ponder…
I need to get some other sewing done before I start any kitchen messes! :o( :o)
      Thank you Marilyn,
I hope you have a lovely weekend too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Absolutely Stunning Jeanne! I think the Reticule accessorizes the outfit perfectly and you’re right, it does bring out the blue in the dress. As always, a lot of design, love and care go into your creations and it shows.
Wishing you and George a wonderful weekend.

    1. Thank you for the sweet compliments on Felicity’s dress and my sewing. I truly do appreciate them.
I’m hoping for a great weekend… well, what’s left of it… and I hope yours is wonderful too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Such a beautiful outfit. The dress (with the fabric I am just crazy about) and all the accessories come together perfectly. It’s true that this wasn’t the speediest outfit you have ever created (not that that matters) but it certainly is one of your loveliest. I can see this being beautiful on any of the girls regardless of their coloring.
Hope you have a good weekend.
    Take care —

    1. HI Charlotte,
I know…that fabric is the sweetest thing isn’t it? I loved it the moment I saw it!
I’m glad you think Felicity’s dress is lovely. That makes me smile… Felicity too!
I tried the jacket on Eden with her dark hair and she did look very sweet in it! :o)
      Thank you Charlotte,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Sweet. I have a vintage reticule/purse made from silk that looks very much like this one. Love your accessories. Everything turned out so well. Looking forward to seeing the listing.
Hope the weekend treats you well. Cold? Raining? Know they had snow in northern Illinois. Sun is just beginning to peek out here. With the damp leaves, it is kind of glistening.

    1. HI Joy,
Well, it would have been to have gotten it listed tonight, but momma called and things changed for my day… maybe soon though!
It’s cold here… not terribly like snow or anything, but definitely coat weather. We have so many leaves on the ground, but we had rain so they are all soggy… no crispy leaves to walk through here.
Thanks for your comments… If you have a picture of your reticule, I’d love to see it…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Words cannot describe how sweet this ensemble is, Jeanne…another beautiful creation from your hands. Love the reticule.

    Blessings.

    1. Thanks so much Becky,
I’m so thrilled that everyone likes it.. nothing like making something and then nobody cares for it… been there, done that…it’s not fun!
Thank you for your kind comments…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Jeanne, I’m sorry that I’m late today, but had a full and fun day shopping with my neighbor, seeing all kinds of Christmasy things! Then I just collapsed when I got home! Shopping is hard work!
The ensemble for Felicity turned out so very pretty, and I’m sure whoever wins it will be thrilled with every detail. You have worked so hard and long on this outfit, it should get top billing on Ebay!
You have leaves too? Welcome to the club!!!

    1. HI Linda.
Your day sounds exhausting but FUN! Did you get all of your Christmas shopping done? I ran into a lady the other day who said hers was all done! I’ve never had that happen this early… The only thing I know of for sure is I’m getting my brother’s kids Cool Spoons in a Box again this year. They loved that!
Thanks for the compliments on Felicity’s dress set. I think she really does look like a little Colonial girl in this one… that was my goal… I guess I achieved it!
Go to bed early tonight so you can be awake for tomorrow!
      Leaves…oh those leaves… :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne
