Some Saturday Side Shots…

My sister is still visiting and I needed a post that would keep you happy as I haven’t had any time for sewing the last few days. I looked at the list of the dolls I’ve owned and picked the ones that weren’t American Girl… and looked for pictures of them where they were glancing to the side. I have LOTS of pictures and I hope you see a few that are new to you. Some of these girls go WAY back with me. Hopefully they are all enjoying their new sisters, where ever they live now! :o)

Enjoy the slide show! You might have to come back several times to check them ALL out.. I think there are 57 pictures!

(If you click on any picture, it will enlarge)

See you Monday,
Blessings, Jeanne

Wow! What a wonderful album you’ve presented today, Jeanne! I recognize that floral fabric, in the 9th picture down–I have some of it myself! It’s so beautiful, and I love what you did with it, and the little lavender jacket and hat to go with it.

Who is the beautiful Asian girl that appears in a number of the pictures? She’s multi-jointed, and is in the next-to-last photo. She’s so pretty!

Hope you’re having fun with your sister. Have a good weekend!

    1. Hi Charlotte,
Yes, that was quite a popular fabric. I made more than my fair share of little girls dresses from it. It was the perfect print for girls and dolls.
The doll you’re talking about is 13″ Song, by Helen Kish. She was from the Chrysalis Collection and was a limited edition. She was articulated and the same size as,my Wren Pistachio doll. I’m glad you enjoyed seeing my girls today.

  2. Beautiful, Jeanne! It’s amazing how many outfits you have made, and each is prettier than the last! You are quite the expert in sewing and creating beautiful outfits for every kind of doll. Just loved the variety and the way the dolls were posed. I haven’t seen more than a fraction that I can remember.

We are leaving for Cape this morning, Homecoming time!! I guess that’s why Deb is at your house!! 🙂

    1. Hi Linda,
Thank you for your sweet compliments on my dresses. I need to do a count again and see how many outfits I’m up to. Quite a few, is all I know.
Have fun in Cape today…I’m sure you will. It’s supposed to be hot today…I hope you don’t have an outdoor picnic planned. :o)
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Please keep us posted on Joy’s situation if possible. I copied her letter and forwarded to a couple of friends because it makes being near the fire so much more real and worrying that the papers do, for all that they are doing a good job.

I have always loved Wren’s black dress, near the top, and her picture with her kitten. The hat was perfect with this. Wren and Song were some of my favorite models. I’ll watch Ebay to see if you have time to finish Molly’s pretty new dress.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I will keep everyone posted on Joy as I hear from her. It must be very scary to think about staying and equally as frightening to leave your home.
You can skip looking on Ebay for Molly’s dress. Rebecca made her a pretty pearl bracelet but we are heading out of town, actually already on the road. George wanted to go see a man in Springfield, IL.
I will work on getting Molly’s dress finished as soon as I can.
      Thank you,
      Blessings, Jeanne

I would love to see you do more dresses for 14″ Kish Chrysalis dolls but alas, I know you sold them all. May I ask why you stopped sewing for them?

    1. Hi Linda Marie,
I stopped sewing for the 14″Kish dolls because the market kind of fell off for them. There weren’t enough people buying or even wanting dresses for them. It was a hard decision to sell Wren. I LOVED how posable she was…Song too.
I’m glad you like the slide show today.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. I can’t believe how many of these pictures I haven’t seen! Did you make the pattern for the little hat on the doll in the very light blue dress, #20, and the ones with the strings of beads for the Chinese dolls? They are beautiful. I noticed the theme was hats and bows and they are all wonderful. What is the name and maker of the beautiful Chinese doll? I think the blond doll is Wren by Wiggs, right? I know you’re having fun this weekend.

    1. Hi Susette,
I’m so glad you saw some new things today.
The blue hat was a pattern for Bitty Bethany. I always liked thst set…plain and simple but aweet.
Song and Wren were both 14″Kish Chrysalis dolls, by Helen Kish, not Kaye Wiggs. Nyssa and Hope are my Kaye Wiggs dolls.
      I am enjoying myself.

  6. Hi everyone,
Here is an update from Joy….

“We are still fine. Just no gas for heat/showers. Can certainly live with that in light of what others are suffering. Our neighbor found that her 79 year old mother perished in the fire. They found her in the bathtub. Several others were able to survive by jumping into swimming pools. They remained there for six hours as the fire burned around them. There are so many stories to be told. People have all become so much closer. We still have the car packed and are ready should the winds pick up tonight. So thankful for the fire fighters, sheriff’s, and all of those sent in from other counties and states to help get these terrible fires out.
    Joy”

  7. Really sweet pictures. ^^^ Poor Joy, I’ll keep her in thought and prayers
I know I’ve been MIA for a few days. This has been one incredible week. First , the brakes needed to be fixed on my mom’s car, so I had to pick her up and run errands for her. Second, Tuesday I woke up with a terrible toothache. Turns out the filling which I had had since I was a teen had eroded and I had to see an endodontist for a root canal. My mom has had two and said then aren’t as bad as a crown. AUGH… I beg to differ, I’ve had fillings, wisdom teeth removed and a crown and this was by far the worst. I was literally in tears. Others may not believe this, but I gave birth the my daughter naturally and this was worse!! It still very, very sore to eat etc. Then today, one of my little rescue cats went to the vet for a checkup and the one needs dental work and will lose one or both cuspids (canine teeth) and because I’ve been involved in feral cat rescue/rehoming for years, I have two kitties that I’m working with currently. So I’ve been very busy.
My favorite pictures are the black and cream on your Kish (?) doll with the little kitty and the rose and sage on your Effenbee (?) I don’t know thiese dolls as well, but I do think they look German like my Kathe Kruse ones. Hope you are enjoy your visit. Had your sister seen your floors yet?

  8. Hi Laura,
I’m sorry for all the things that have been happening to you lately. I feel for you about the root canal…and yes, I’ve shed some tears on one before too.
The black and cream with the kitty was my Wren doll, by Helen Kush. The other one you liked..the rose embroidered jacket withe sage corduroy dress is on Bitty Bethany, by Helen Kish too. I’m guessing that was the one you meant.
I hope things get better this week.
    Blessings, Jeanne

  9. Glad to hear of Joy…thank you for passing her news on to us.

You are leaving an incredible legacy Jeanne….your sewing as well as your imprint upon the lives of others in such a servant’s way. It is truly an honor to be your acquaintance. Thank you so much for sharing such beautiful photos with us, once again.

    Blessings.

    1. HI Becky,
Oh, my goodness, you are too kind with your compliments! I’m just someone who likes to sew and then share it with others! I do appreciate that you enjoy the posts I write about.

I hope Joy will keep me informed of what’s going on so I can pass it along… I still can’t imagine how you handle that from day to day…
      Thanks again Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne
