I think it was unanimous that everyone, at least who reads this blog, thought the “reborn” dolls were a little too creepy to suit them. I guess if someone liked them, they may have been intimidated to say so… but it sure gave me lots of hits yesterday… I hadn’t had that many people visiting my blog in a long time… the number was WAY up there!
I only left one comment yesterday, at the bottom of everyone else’s. My day was going to be about getting some fabrics listed on Etsy, but my plans had to change from the git go! That’s okay, but I just didn’t get as big of a head start as I would have liked. I’m talking about getting all my many many MANY yards of fabric listed in my Etsy shop. It seemed to take me forever to get the 10 listed that I did… I sold one in the middle of listing them. That was a good thing! I have SO MUCH MORE to list, it’s not even funny… but I told my hubby I would like to have my fabric sales go toward the floor… (I think it’s gonna happen!) :o)
So… my Fabulous Fabric Finds for Friday are actually in my Etsy shop. I was going to list them here, but I realized as soon as Saturday came, they wouldn’t be visible like they would be if they were in my Etsy shop.
I wanted to make it as simple and easy as possible to buy them so I just picked a flat rate of $2.50 per yard and then there will a $3.00 charge for shipping for each listing. Any additional purchases will have a $1.00 shipping charge. I won’t get rich and I probably won’t break even, but I will get rid of the fabric and make a little money I hope. There was no rhyme or reason for the fabrics I picked.. They were just on top of the bundle and I started with them..
I have flannels, cottons, fat quarters, half yard pieces, faux furs, polar fleece, and a few other odd ball pieces. It will take me a while but I’ll just keep adding fabrics to my Etsy shop until I get them all listed.
So here are a few of the fabrics I listed… and then I’ll give you the Etsy link… or you can see the fabrics at the right side bar… in my Mini Etsy listings.
Here is the link to our Etsy shop… If you click on the pictures at the right side bar, you’ll be taken to that listing… If you click on the tiny lettering… “I Dream of Jeanne Marie”, it will take you to ALL my listings.
I Dream of Jeanne Marie Etsy Shop
I hope you’ll take a peek from time to time…
See you tomorrow,

How is your mom? It sounds as if you had quite a day. I was worried when you said Bithar called — relief when she only wanted the corn casserole recipe. Jean should now be home. That’s more relief. I hope Ruben is ok now.
I enjoyed reading some of the comments yesterday. I think it was Ann who said “taxidermy.” They do show amazing work, and obviously people willing to pay $5000 and more for them must really love them. There must be hundreds of kinds of things that are also amazing work that we don’t know about because we don’t see them. The insides of the clothes of some of the top designers, for example. My sister-in-law has a carved dove about the size of a walnut, where each feather is carved out perfectly. It’s from Japan, from the formal kimono section in one of the huge department stores. Beautifully woven old ceremonial vestments for Church celebrations. Architectural details on the capitol and the White House. It all comes back to “details matter,” as we keep saying about your work.
Hi Marilyn,
My mom had some blood work done and might have a urinary infection. ..
Jean doesn’t get home till 2:00 this afternoon, so I’m trying to find a babysitter for her right now as her appointment is at 1:30…this week is Vacation Bible School and all the young girls are helping with that…
Reuben seems to be better. He had another restless episode last night but Rebecca looked up the medicine they put in his ears and it caused all the symptoms he had…so no more of that stuff…
Yes, you certainly named quite a few things where “details do matter.” There’s something for everyone to enjoy…

Wow, Jeanne, you certainly DO have a lot going on in your life! I guess it is like a new adventure every day when you wake up and find out what the next thing is going to be! Can you imagine holding a full time job at an office or something, away from home, and dealing with all this? I think you DO have a full time job navigating throughout your day!! I hope your mother is doing alright, Bithar is doing well, and poor little Rueben,— I hope things improve for him!
Good luck with your fabric sales!
Hi Linda,
Yes, some days it’s QUITE the adventure! Today might be one of them too..never a dull moment I guess…
My mom and Reuben seem to okay now..I’ll find out after Bithar’s doctor appointment how she is…and baby…
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
The little thing shaped like a walnut that Marilyn’s sister-in-law has is probably a netsuke, the knob-like stop on the sash on a Japanese male’s kimono. There is a wonderful exhibit of them at the Los Angeles Museum of Art and at museums around the world. I have a couple of them from when we lived in Japan and they are truly works of art.
Not to be too critical, but the person painting the most expensive doll could take lessons from Magalie and Little Darling artists on how to paint the eyes and lips of the dolls.
It might be a good idea to put a quarter or dime on the fabrics as you take pictures to give an idea of the scale of the prints. Thanks for sharing and I’m going right to your Etsy site to see what’s there. Good luck with everything that’s going on right now.
Also do you sell cuts of the fabrics or just the whole piece? Thanks.
Hi Susette
Thanks for telling us about the carved pieces from Japan…always someone who knows what things are in this group!
Magalie would surely appreciate your compliment on her painting!
I have a ruler for scale in one of my pictures…and sorry, but I just can’t cut the fabrics. I’m selling them in the lengths they are…if I had only a few fabrics I might, but I have way too many to be cutting…I don’t want listing the fabrics to get in the way of my sewing…
Thanks Susette,
Blessings, Jeanne
Very pretty fabrics! I hope you have successful sales.
How is Reuben? I hope he is feeling better.
Have a good day!
Take care.
Thank you, Charlotte,
I’m hoping to get more fabrics listed today…I could probably work all day for 3 weeks and still not be done…ugh!
Reuben seems to be better today. The Benadryl helped. We’re pretty sure it was some medicine for his ears….Rebecca figured it out from the symptoms he was having…

Well, I meant to comment yesterday, but I got busy and didn’t…now I see that I’m really in the minority because I LOVE reborns! I don’t have any (at least not the expensive ones) but I do have quite a few factory made, realistic-looking, life-sized baby dolls. I bought my 8 year old daughter “Baby MEI” from Paradise Galleries for Christmas last year (a Chinese infant), and she is so cute. She wears 0-3 months sized clothing, and my daughter likes to bring her along wherever we go. People are constantly mistaking her for a real baby! So much fun. Reborns don’t creep me out at all, but I can see why some people might have an issue with them. It’s nice that there’s something out there for everyone!
Love seeing another view point. I’m glad there are dollies for all tastes.
Hi Angela,
I’m glad you spoke up, so we can see the other point of view…I’m glad your daughter loves her doll and I’m pretty sure I remember seeing that doll last year and thinking she was adorable… I remember that name.
Thanks for letting us know!
Blessings, Jeanne
Strange how there are two posts. Please delete the first as I have a spelling error. 🙂
Must be because of the weather here. So strange. Cloudy, muggy, and warm. Like Hawaii weather. We’re not used to the humidity.
Oh fabrics. Just what I need. Or can’t resist. Hope the flooring fund has lots of sales.
I’m glad Bithar is feeling like cooking or maybe that is the sign baby is coming soon. Hope Jean is arriving on time.
Happy Friday.
Hi Joy,
I have been wanting to get these fabrics listed ever since I cleaned out my sewing room last year. They have been waiting in tubs ever since…
When I took a big bag of rice over to Bithar yesterday, she was sweeping her floor. As soon as I saw it, I thought, she’s got rhe “nesting” fever! It won’t be long!
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi
My hubby is in the hospital ( long story but will be OK) so didn’t see your Thursday post….darn it.
I took a class to make the reforms and loved the process but it’s time consuming and I was still working then. I love/hate them too. They really get your creative juices flowing because you can just do what you like to them. Creating the realistic skin tones…painting on even the veins and blushing them here and there…and dressing them is fun.
What creeps me out is watching a couple that bought one at a doll show and later that day ran into them with the doll in a stroller walking it. Yikes
I’ll go back to yesterday’s comments to see what you said ?
HI Kathie,
I hope your hubby is still in the hospital for his knee replacement and not something else…
I wondered if you had ever dealt with the reborns… guess I was right!
That is a little scary about the couple with the doll in a stroller.
Rebecca was taking some lunch trays up to a floor in the hospital and she saw an older lady cuddling a baby doll too.. She couldn’t wait to get home and tell me… :o/
Thanks Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, I do like the reborns, but they are too expensive for my budget. I have had friends and family tell me they are creeped out by my dolls … even my favorite Raggedy Ann. (Stupid Chuckie has a lot to answer for. LOL) So I don’t worry about it. My dolls are for me, I have on-line friends who share my interest and my husband is very sweet about it. Each to their own. Hurrah for art, for talent, and that we can find others to play dolls with on line … like this wonderful group!
Hi Kathleen,
Well, I never actually gave my opinions on them yesterday but if I had to say something about them, it would be …there are good ones and there are bad ones… the ones that are so lifelife you can’t tell if it’s a real baby or not, really intrigue me.. I have to admit it. I’ve never seen one in person, so maybe that’s a different story, but the talent it takes to bring a piece of vinyl to life just amazes me… I think they are beautiful when done well, but I don’t think I’d like to own one…
Thanks Kathleen,
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, Jeanne, I was going to comment on the Rebborn dolls, but I got busy and didn’t write anything. I think the babies are cute, but I don’t get carried away with them. I have only one, but he has had a lot of play time from my nieces. They are getting big now, so he just sits in his crib and never makes a sound. I also like babies with their eyes opened–makes them seem more like dolls. I can see how some people can treat them like real babies. I also like tiny baby dolls–like Kish’s Babies, Jessamyn and Ellery. One of my favorite dolls is a tiny, about 3″ baby, by Dianna Effner. I actually like a lot of types of dolls. I have several dolls by D. Effner, a couple of Little Darlings, and a lot of the Riley friends, Bleuettes, and many more. I even have several American Girls, and Logan, the American Boy! Many in my family say that dolls are creepy, but I just tell them “Just look at those eyes–They are so sweet.” I don’t try to win any arguments–I just figure that we both are entitled to our opinions.
