I’m back at my sewing machine again…

This is so short, it might be equivalent to a “non-post!”

I’m happy to report I still remember how to use my sewing machine! It’s been a few days since I’ve been in my sewing room, so I wasn’t sure if I’d remember how things worked or not… just kidding, but it is strange for me not to sew at least something each day. Although when I show you the little bit I got finished, you’ll probably laugh and think “that’s it???”

I managed to get Felicity’s bodice constructed and the sleeves set in, but just at the sleeve cap… they aren’t stitched underneath the arm because I have to finish the sleeve edges first.

I was going to stay up late and get more done on it, but I have to get up early for a dentist appointment.. UGH… a crown! UGH again!

I thought maybe when I get home I’ll have all day to sew, so we’ll see what I might get accomplished…

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Oh Jeanne, don’t worry, we all have days where not much gets done, at least not the things we WANT to get done! Felicity’s dress is going to be just lovely!

Sorry to hear about the dentist appointment! I know your misery, and I think my dentist could have a lifetime of wonderful vacations with all the money I give to him!!

    1. Hi Linda,
I didn’t even get started until after 9 last night so it’s no wonder I didn’t get much done.
While I’m sitting in the dentist chair, maybe I’ll figure out how I want her sleeves to look… :o)

My dentist could go on vacation with YOUR dentist from what I’ve paid him too!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Looking very nice, Jeanne. Might I ask how you finish the sleeves? Serged? Another way?

I’m so sorry about the dental appointment, but, at least it keeps pain and infection away.

    Blessings.

    1. Hi Becky,
After I’ve stitched in the sleeves, I clip the curved part closest to the underarm area and spread the sits apart making it as straight as I can by pulling it and then I serge it close to the edge. I might have to show you a picture of it…it’s not easy to explain.
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. I hope your dental appointment goes as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Hope you have a good day!
    Take care.

    1. Hi Charlotte,
I’m back at home now and I survived the dentist. I’m such a big chicken. It isn’t the pain of the work, because I always have him load me up with shots…but I have TMJ in my jaws and can only open up my mouth 2 fingers width wide, so the dentist has to struggle to get any instruments in my mouth. I have to strain to keep my mouth open for him. I can only do that for a minute or so, so the dentist has to get the instruments out so I can rub my jaws for a few seconds. It’s a pain…for me and the dentist…
So I’m still numb and ready to do something fun…like sewing!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Hope your dental visit goes well. Fortunately, my dentist provides tv’s in the ceiling at good viewing points along with headphones. Makes the visit much more enjoyable as I watch the DIY show. You might suggest this to your dentist. I’m sure it is a write off for them. You know, office improvements. 🙂

    1. Hi Joy,
I survived…that’s all that matters now.
My dentist does have those TV’s too. It does take your mind off things a little bit.
I’m ready to sew. It’s raining so it’s a good day to stay inside!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. I miss my sewing machine (affectionately named “Rose”) if I don’t sew for a day either!
Hope you’ll feel better after the DDS!

    1. Hi Shara,
Maybe I need to name my sewing machine…I’ll pick something besides “Rose.”
Whatever mine is, named, I better visit her, and the sooner the better!
      Thanks Shara,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. I have this piece of fabric that was my Grandma’s and it so reminds me of that fabric! I’ll be so interested to see the progress.
So sorry you have that jaw issue…it makes what could be an easy procedure so hard…but it’s so important to keep those teeth in good shape. You have a good attitude though.
Shara has given us a good idea! I’m going to name mine “Mary”after my Grandma who taught me how to use her treadle machine
I think naming your sewing machine is a hoot! You could make it a contest!

    1. Hi Kathie,
I’ve definitely made some progress today. I hope you’ll like the direction I’m taking with it.

We might have to do the naming of the sewing machine…that might be fun.
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. I too like the idea of naming your sewing machine. I just call mine “my Bernina” — I think it was named after a Swiss mountain range. I got it as a grad student, it was on sale. Someone once suggested that I might trade it in. I said I might get a companion machine, but my Bernina is mine for life.

I’m so glad you are done with the dentist. When are you returning to Cool Spoons to celebrate?

  8. Hi Marilyn,
I’ll have to think long and hard about a name for my machine…
As far,as Cool Spoons goes, we went there when Deb and Mike were here. :o)
    Thanks Marilyn,
    Blessings, Jeanne
