I’ve been seeing lots of play sets for dolls on Ebay lately; many of them knitted or crocheted and they are adorable. I wondered how many “play sets” I have made? I just typed that line and now I’ll go check out my archives and see if we have anything to do a post about… yikes! I’m not sure exactly what I consider a “play set” but I hope you enjoy what I find…
Yippee! I found 15 pictures…and hope you enjoy them… there might be some you haven’t seen before…
This hot pink set is being modeled by Katie Effanbee. The set actually had a little skirt that tied around the waist and made a cute “dressy” romper.
My 16″ Red Haired Kish doll is wearing a pair of denim capris and a fun swing top.
An Mei is having fun with some kitties…
Isabelle adores her parakeet…
Kit was away at summer camp…
Lian is modeling “Lovely in Lavender!” Oh, and isn’t she???
Tiny 7 1/2″ Riley is ready for the pony rides…
Lanie looked so comfy in this purple romper.
… just as comfy as she does in this strawberry one!
Isabelle is showing you she isn’t afraid of dogs…
This is Millie… a skinny little ball jointed doll, by Kaye Wiggs. She was only with me about a year before I sold her.
Kit has been to the Farmer’s Market.
Riley is ready for the rodeo now!
This is a new (old) picture from 2007, that I received in the mail from Barbara. She’s been an admirer of mine since I began selling on Ebay. She copied my pictures and sent some new ones to me. I don’t have several of the ones she sent me, so it’s very fun for me to see these old pictures again. I had completely forgotten about this one. I’ll share the rest, but Molly’s play set was perfect for today’s post.
Well, I hope you enjoyed my “play” clothes! See I don’t just do dresses! :o)
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Thanks for all the kind comments on my win yesterday. I’ll be sure to share what the prize is. I’ll be sure to pass on winnings for quite a while but love to participate in the contests.
Sometimes I think I must have seen everything you’ve sewn, but the post this morning was a total surprise. Wonderful things and endless inspiration! I almost fell off my chair when I saw Isabelle with the beautiful Conyer she is holding in her hand. My daughter-in-law who is Chinese is in Taiwan now, helping to care for her mother. She posted a short video of a Conyer at a street market, just like the one she had years ago. Where in the world did you find it? I couldn’t find one anywhere on the internet this morning but ordered a bird that I’ll try to repaint, but it’s nowhere near as beautiful as that one. I copy some of your picture to my picture files under “Jeanne” but never share them anywhere else. They are there for inspiration and to pop up on my Screen Saver. Thanks again for your wonderful Blog and the contests.
HI Susette,
I’m glad I surprised everyone with something besides dresses today! I suppose my play sets are forgotten by me too! oops!
I have no idea where I got Isabelle’s Conure…probably at some little shop somewhere or some yard sale. I pick up animals all the time knowing I can use them for my dolls.
I’m glad you enjoyed the post today…
Thanks Susette,
Blessings, Jeanne
P.S. Susette, I just remembered, I found Isabelle’s little parakeet at a farm store here in town. They sell all kinds of little pigs, goats, cows, puppies, kitties, and birds…
These are truly more beautiful creations, Jeanne. Like Susette, I don’t recall seeing any of these before, or most of them. You are full of colorful, creative surprises for us. Thanks so much for taking time to share them.
Blessings.
HI Becky,
Oh good, surprises that have hardly been seen before…. a few days ago I was worried as I thought, “I don’t have any more new pictures to show…what will I do?” Guess I even surprised myself! Yay!
Thanks Becky, I’m glad you enjoyed them too.
Blessings, Jeanne
Loved your post today, Jeanne! I, for one, like to dress my dolls in clothes they can use for everyday fun. Yes, I do love pretty dresses, but I do like play clothes too. I especially love the first little one, what I call a “bubble” outfit. It reminds me of the darling one I bought for my granddaughters when they were about 2 or 3 years old. It had a sweet little Peter Pan collar, edged with lace, was smocked on the top, and then of course, the ‘bubble” effect for the bottom part. It was SO cute! It has tiny pink and white all over flower patterned material. And to think, one is in high school now and the other almost a teenager! Boo! I love to dress little girls, which is maybe why I love to dress my dolls, I guess!!
By the way, I used to have a green and yellow parakeet, whose name was GEORGE!! Can you imagine?
HI Linda,
I too, love those “bubble” rompers too. I even made a sweet nautical one for Kristoffer when he was just starting to walk. I might have to see if I can find that… he was adorable in it.
Yes, “my” little bubble boy is turning 30 in October! How can that be???
I’ll have to tell my George about your George!
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
I really enjoyed seeing your photos today. Lots for inspiration here. Love Isabelle’s little doggie outfit. The brown and denim are great together. I like the photo too with the corner shot by the little fence.
Thanks for sharing your casual sets.
Thank you Joy,
I liked Isabelle’s doggie set too. I have some sweet shots of her in it close up but wanted to show her capris… I might have to show them sometime so you can see them better. I need to get a taller fence too… that works for Ten Ping and Patsy, but my Little Darlings need something higher…
It was my pleasure to bring you “casual” today… :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
Like everyone else, I loved today’s post. And like I have said before, I would enjoy some of those outfits in my size! It’s fun to see a themed show of outfits but it is also interesting to see the different ways you set up the photos.
Hope you have a good day.
Take care.
Thank you Charlotte,
It’s been so hot here lately, and humid, that I think I’d like some of these cool and comfy sets myself. I’m glad you enjoyed them today! Just about everyone of my girls is holding an animal of some kind… from frogs to dogs!
Thanks so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
Morning!
Great pictures! Love all the play wear. I was reading Suzette’s post and wondering what a Conyer is? Is it another term for Parakeet? It really is cute…like one I had as kid. Linda said she had a green one too…mine was Chi Chi :).
I’m working on a July 4th outfit but it’s hard getting the fit right.
Have an awesome day
HI Kathie,
Thanks for your kind comments on today’s post about play outfits.
A Conure is a parakeet, as you guessed. I had a blue one too, I used it with Isabelle in a dress set called “Toodles Escapes”…do you remember it?
I have a dear friend named Chi Chi…so that made me smile…
A 4th of July outfit for your own doll, or one to sell? Send me a picture when you get it done. I should have been more on the ball with the 4th of July outfits. I love to make them… but was just too busy I guess.
Thanks Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
What sweet playsuits. I really like Lanie’s strawberry one, so cute. I didn’t realize you had Lanie at one point. You must have had a number of dolls that only lived with you for a short while. Isabelle’s dog ensemble is precious and I also like Kit’s Farmer’s Market one.
Isabelle’s parakeet looks just like one I had as a child. I had two actually, a male green/yellow one named Dickie and and a blue/white one named Susie. As a teen I had a Red factor canary named Mandarin. He sang absolutely beautifully. Our little Yorkie used to sit by the cage and listen sometimes.
Congratulations, Susette, for winning the prize yesterday!!
Thank you Laura,
I’m glad you enjoyed the play outfits today and I guess I forget to show anything but dresses.. so I’ll try to find some more…
I can’t believe so many of you had childhood birdies!
Thanks Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
Summer is here. It may be time for another play outfit. These outfits are inspiring some of us — they may be inspiring you as well.
It’s been fun to see them. I do remember some, but others — like Kit’s — are new to me. The Kish girls tend to look good in anything and I especially like Kit’s camping outfit and Lanie’s strawberry outfit. Maybe it’s that those two seem to be All-American outdoor girls. The last two entries have been very summery. I’m glad. I know seamstresses need to be gearing up for fall, but I’m hoping for at least a couple of summer dresses before we head into back to school. Give the girls a break — they need a vacation too.
Hi Marilyn,
To get ready for school starting, I probably should jump on the band wagon and start making some of them, but I still want to do summer for a while longer…
I may just have to do another play set…I do feel inspired.
Thanks so much, Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
The play clothes are adorable. I especially like the overall styles, but I have to say Lian caught my eye in the light purple. She looks so good in that color!
Thanks Carolyn,
I love to see dolls in overalls…long or short and glad you did too!
Lian does look pretty in lavender…and that set was very fun to create. It was inspired by her top…a sweet baby onesie with the tiniest print.
Thanks Carolyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Your play sets are adorable, Jeanne! Clothing was a bit more dear when I was a child, and I always had to change into “play clothes” immediately after school or church. I had a few nice casual sets for visits, vacations, etc., but not many as nice as these. My favorite is Lian modeling the “Lovely in Lavender.” Now THAT is a fancy play set! I also like Isabelle’s floral capri’s with the breezy ruffled top, and Molly’s yellow and blue play suit with detachable skirt is so charming. I would like one in my size too, please! As usual, I’m intrigued by your doll’s different hairstyles, and I also enjoy your many scenes, backdrops and decorations. You always seem to have the perfect accessories for your dolly stories. This was such a wonderful collection of play clothes for summertime, Jeanne. Thank you for taking time to assemble your “play set” post for our pleasurable perusal! Wednesday blessings to you!
Hi Anne,
I remember racing home from school too, and changing into play clothes. ..everyone probably did.
I’m glad you enjoyed the many styles, and props and hair styles I showed. I do have lots of props and things to use for when I take pictures.
Thanks for your kind comments, Anne,
Blessings, Jeanne
I’m not only late to read this today, but I missed yesterday completely, LOL. The days are passing soooo quickly! Big Congratulations, Susette!! I’m happy you won the surprise, and I hope it does inspire you to sew again! I think you’ve been doing great!
I liked the play set on the 16″ Kish girl, Jeanne, as the dark colors just drew me right in and those banded sleeves just look so nice on anything, but I really liked Molly in the blue and yellow outfit, too. The last photo you posted. It’s one of my favorite color combinations and the design is cute, too! I love dresses the most, but it was a nice change to see these today. : ) I hope everyone has a good day tomorrow!
Thanks Ali,
I was just heading to bed and saw your comment. I’m glad you enjoyed today’s post… It was fun to see something besides dresses for a change. I think everyone enjoyed seeing some play clothes on my girls. I did!
Thanks for your sweet compliments on the girls sets.
YOU have a good day too!
Blessings, Jeanne
