THIS IS MY 1000th POST!!!

In case you didn’t know…when you want to emphasize something; like when you’re typing, if you use all caps, it’s the same thing as SCREAMING! (or so I’ve been told…) I’m screaming today because it’s my

post. I can hardly believe we’ve shared that many conversations together, but it’s true…we have. I must be terribly gabby to have written that many posts… :o) If you notice in my picture, I hooked a few of Rebecca’s American Girl necklaces together with those magnetic clasps she uses. There will be a GIVEAWAY next week, but I just couldn’t get it together with my sisters here.

I did think of something else, for now though… I was wondering, (and this isn’t a way for me to toot my own horn, really it isn’t) what is your favorite thing about my blog? I won’t even give you any examples, but I’d love to see what you like the most about coming here each day…

I’ve got more company coming in this afternoon, and I will be anxious later on to read all your comments! You can either leave them below or you can hit the “Contact Me” tab under my header and send them to me through email.

I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Well, CONGRATULATIONS Jeanne, on your 1,000th post!!!!!! Wow, you are certainly “gabby” in a good way, because I never can wait to see what’s going on with you each and every day when I get on the computer early in the morning. It just doesn’t seem right if there is nothing there from you! What do I love about it? I don’t have the time or space to comment on that, but I love the way you show us how to live a good and giving life,— oh yes, I do love the dolly sewing, but overall, it’s just YOU, Jeanne, and the way you are. I love the friendships I have gained through your blog, and how friendly everyone is with each other. We live in different places and have different lives, yet, we are all the same in many respects—–and YOU are the one who has brought us together. So, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly why I love your blog, it first started as being interested in the beautiful doll clothes you made, and has turned into something else.

  2. WOOOHOOO!!!! Happy-happy Blogging! I look forward to looking at your daily entry…and, those of your followers. Many ‘little gems’ of ideas and inspiration ooooze from you and your followers’ entries. Sewing tips, recipes… heck, just having you pick a new doll to sew for makes me think of ‘my other girls’ and what they might be wanting to wear. I wouldn’t say there is a ‘favorite topic’ you share – it’s just that you – and your followers – are experts in sharing that makes it a fun beginning of my day. Thanks!

CONGRATS!!! That is quite an achievement! What do I like about your blog? I have been receiving your daily blog for only a short time. I am very blessed by your God-given talent, love and passion that you pour out not just to your readers, but how you serve God, loving your family and blessing others. God has richly blessed you for your generous, giving heart. I especially love the many photographs you share of all the beautiful creations that you have sewn, REALLY love it when you share about your estate or thrift shop finds or even what a loving friend has sent you. Love the recipe sharing and the daily revealing of how your work is progressing. NOW it is time that I am the recipient and owner of one of your exquisite creations. I think my choice would be a dress for my Felicity. You have not done one of those in awhile.

  4. Jeanne…. congratulations..1000 posts! What a milestone:)!
I love how you pose your dolls, especially when they are “works in progress”.. but my personal favorite part is READING your posts. You have such a friendly, homey way with your wording, that it feels like a daily chat with my BFF! Even when times are rough, your inner light shines and illuminates our day. I’ll be here for #2000. !

    Many hugs,

    Shara

  5. Congratulations!!! What a wonderful accomplishment! I enjoy every word, no matter what you’re writing about from chickens to collars to family visits and life in what I consider “the country,” being a “city girl.” Your creative writing style and great photographs to back it up continue to amaze me. The fact that you do this every day without fail is wonderful for all of us whose days are brighten by your blog. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. I second every comment the ladies have written about why we love Jeanne Marie and her Blog. Thanks, too, for the friends I’ve made through your blog and the inspiration on many fronts. We love you!

  6. Congratulations on your 1000th post !! What a commitment. How wonderful for you and for us, your readers. I started out reading your blog because of the clothes you made for some of the dolls I have, but getting to know you, your kindness and sweetness, amid such interesting topics, really made me feel close to you as a friend. And on top of that, your readers are wonderful ladies too. It is amazing that we are all spread out and in never having met, I feel they are very dear to me as well.
I agree with everyone’s comments. Absolutely!! You, Jeanne Marie, are a blessing to us all. (And your family too!)

  7. Congratulations!!! I haven’t followed your posts for all those years. I followed you on Ebay for a number of years before I knew your posts existed. I have been reading old posts though to help me catch up.
Every morning I read your post and every evening, I read the comments. Like I said recently, your posts and everyone’s comments are like talking with a good friend while having a cup of tea. It’s a little bit of time for me. I sew a little and am trying to do more and get better. I don’t have any sewing friends in person. So, I very much like the sewing talk. I find your work inspiring and I learn something new from nearly every post. It isn’t just the sewing though. I like the non-sewing posts too. Friends don’t talk about just one subject and it is the same here. Perhaps it is the warm and welcoming atmosphere you create. Some blogs say they are welcoming and then you make a comment and you find out it isn’t so welcoming after all. Not here though. Everyone truly is friendly. I’m not sure why it all works so well but you have a good group here and I am so happy to be a part of it.
    Have a good day!
    Take care.

  8. Congratulations!!! My favourite part of your blog is seeing the in progress posts of whatever outfit you are making. I love to see how things are made and then the final product. 😀

  9. She’s even creative in her 1000th post photo! Love the beads. What a wonderful idea.
And a big Congratulations too! That is a lot of posts and with answers.
When I first found the blog, I too was into the dolly clothes and all of that, but then there were gardening things and recipes to try. So many fun things that creative Jeanne was able to find to entertain us with every day.
Then, reading everyone elses comments became interesting too. Just so many individuals pretty much interested in the same things.
Love how those that know are able to interact and help others. Such a sharing thing. And it is all because of Jeanne Marie who is so kind and takes the time to individually answer each of us. Pretty amazing in this world of ours.
Toot Toot, your blog is great!

  10. I didn’t read anyone else’s comments so I wouldn’t get swayed in any way, but, my favorite thing about your blog is:

YOUR WONDERFUL ATTITUDE TOWARDS US, YOUR READERS. YOU’RE SO KIND TO ALL OF US.

    Enjoy your family time!

Congratulations Jeanne! I LOVE your welcoming nature, your kindness, your willingness to share. Thank you so much!!
PS: Where does Rebecca find those magnetic clasps?

  12. Hi Jeanne,
Congrats! 1000 posts WOW! That is something to be proud of.
I came across your blog by accident. As I was browsing Pinterest. I found a beautiful gown that was made by you. From there I found your blog, after reading your “About Me” section, I felt we may be twins separated at birth. We have so much in common it’s ironic. One place we differ is our homes. I’d love to live in a historic fixer but after remodeling two houses hubby has hung up his tool belt for good! That doesn’t mean I don’t love hearing about your projects though 🙂 I enjoy hearing about everything from what fabric and trimmings you are considering to what’s for dinner. I’m still working on all those yummy chicken ideas shared by everyone.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, visiting your blog makes me feel welcome and happy, your readers are kind and helpful, and always willing to share their knowledge.
I’m pretty sure the reason your readers are the way they are is because the blog host is one of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever met. Kind, loving and always willing to share. I am honored to be able to travel down your road. Keep on Blogging Jeanne
    Hugs
    Ingrid

  13. Congratulations on your 1000th post. What dedication and commitment to write something every day. I don’t recall exactly when I found your blog, but I do know the I was looking up a PC dress or accessory for either Felicity or Samantha when I was building those collections and somehow ebay linked one of your auctions. It was a Regency dress modeled by Elizabeth and it was blue and white with little white birds on a blue ground. Somehow I found the blog either from that or from AGPT, I’m no longer sure.
I really like to read anything you’re posting about, but naturally I love it when you are posting about sewing for the PC/AG girls, especially when it’s a Colonial, Civil War or Victorian/ Edwardian dress. It fun when we get to guess or encourage who should be next or flattered that you consider our imput on your creations. And I love when there are tutorials as it’s fascinating the way you make things’ perfect ( those tulle sleeve headers are amazing). Truly, though chatting about flowers, antique stores, baking/cooking, pets etc. it’s all fun.
I also love interacting with all the other “friends” who post on your blog as well. I feel we all sort of know each other even though we’re far apart. I think if we were to get together we would have a lot in common and not only collecting dolls. That fact you also find time to answer each of us is pretty amazing. Her’s to the next 1000 posts * raises glass of iced tea*

  14. 1000! Congratulations!
What’s my favorite part of the blog? Getting to share a life — Charlotte’s right, “…your posts and everyone’s comments are like talking with a good friend while having a cup of tea.” You can have coffee, that’s ok. I’ll have the tea. It’s the warm and welcoming atmosphere and the variety. Something interesting is always happening and everyone is always interested and contributes. It’s a nice place to come.
I went back to read the comments. Several people chose the same era I did, and none of us wanted to stay in a world without plumbing and electricity. They’ve been around for such a short time — we’ll all do without ball gowns if the trade off is running water and press-the-button and get more heat.
By the way, while hoops were lovely and much appreciated for their lightness compared to layers of petticoats, they were also dangerous. Those huge skirts caught fire and were impossible to get out of quickly. The back of the skirt was some distance from the wearer and hard to reach, and with no running water instantly available….
I was glad Susette wrote about the coal fires, still making schoolrooms messy in the late 50s in England.
Someone asked the name of the book about the scullery maid — Minding the Manor. The Women’s Institute book was Jambusters — the English edition is Home Fires. My next book is Land Girls — members of the British Women’s Land Army — young women who took the places of the farm laborers who went for soldiers. The back of the book shows the WLA uniform — hat, shirt, pullover sweater, breeches (dungarees for work), stockings (knee socks, not nylons), oxfords, and mackintoshes. I imagine they were also issued work boots, though leather and rubber were both in short supply.

  15. Wow! Congrats on an impressive milestone. I like everything about your blog, but the best thing (to me) is that it’s about sewing and dolls, which are two of my favorite things. I don’t know of any other blogs that cover both of those topics, and you are so generous about sharing your own interests it’s like a little visit with a friend.

  16. CONGRATULATIONS on your 1,000th post achievement, Jeanne, and very best wishes for 1,000 more! What spirit and enthusiasm you have shown in the commitment to your blog, and what an honor and privilege it has been to be a follower. You have both inspired and encouraged us with your knowledge and ideas, and offered us opportunities to do the same by sharing our own. Through it all, you’ve offered us the gift of your friendship. Thoreau said, “The language of friendship is not words but meanings.” Thank you for what you mean to each of us, Jeanne, and blessings to you as you embark on the path to your next milestone!

  17. Seriously…1000 posts! Aren’t you proud of yourself! That is a huge commitment. Sometimes I’m sure you are tired and would rather not post but you don’t so we can grab that cup of coffee and see what is happening in Jeanne’s world. I love seeing the talent you have surface in the form of your darling ensembles. Enjoy the pics of your place and Georges garden and Rebecca’s jewelry and your recipes. Thank you for the 1000 posts and hope there will be many more! (( HUGS))

Congratulations, Jeanne!! That is an impressive landmark!

Favorite thing about your blog….well, there are several things, really I like seeing how you put fabrics, trims and notions together to make a lovely dress or outfit. Beyond that, I really appreciate your willingness to show us how you make something–socks, for instance. (I think all of us sewers appreciate that!)

I like that some of your readers will comment back and forth to each other occasionally–that is always fun to read.

I also like that you let us into your life–sharing, joys, sorrows and challenges with us. Most of all, I like that your faith shines thru, especially during those challenging or sorrowful times. Your very life is a witness.

Best wishes, and here’s to 1000 more blogs!!
