My sisters stayed a few more hours (YAY) and there was no time to work on taking pictures of Addy’s new “Southern Charm” dress, but I’m hoping for some “picture time” Tuesday! Rebecca made a pretty necklace for it and I think I’m finally done with it now. (Addy has enjoyed her extra time in the dress, knowing that she’ll have to give it up soon…)
My daughter, Rebecca, also made some other necklaces for the American Girl dolls and that’s what my GIVEAWAY will be for today….in celebration of my 1000th post on Friday. If you missed that post, you can see it HERE.
My sisters and mom and I did a fair amount of shopping this week, and I got to thinking about what it is that I love to shop for the most… clothes wise that is. My favorite items to look for are 3/4 length sleeve cardigan sweaters… they can be prints or solids or even florals. I have several and can “always” use more. :o) I like the thinner sweaters made from the softest cottons.
SO… this time, to get in on the drawing for a free necklace for your American Girl doll, instead of just commenting and saying, “I like necklace # so and so,” why don’t you tell me, in the comment area below, or by email, (Contact Me), what is YOUR favorite clothing item to look for when you are out shopping. That is how you’ll be entered into the drawing for a necklace.
Okay, so here are the necklaces that you can pick from if your name is drawn out as the winner. You have until midnight tonight (Central IL time zone) to leave your comment and then I’ll pick a name. I’ll let you know tomorrow who the winner is. The ones that aren’t picked will be listed in my Etsy shop as soon as I get a chance.
If you click on any of the pictures, they will enlarge.
Well, that’s a lot to pick from and I hope YOU are the winner tomorrow!
See you then,
Blessings, Jeanne
So my favorite thing to shop for is anything for my 7 y/o granddaughter, Charlotte. I just love buying little girl clothes. I try to help out my son and daughter-in-law by buying almost all of Charlotte’s clothes and shoes. Just yesterday, I saw the cutest stride rite sandals on Facebook and bout two pair for her for the summer. Having them sent directly to them was so easy and it will be a surprise for her.
My favourite item to shop for is a nice cool, comfortable shirt. I overheat very easily, and I like to find light weight shirts that won’t add extra heat to me. (Course, if shopping for dolls, I love to find fabrics and come up with ideas of what to sew for them. LOL)
I also favor 3/4 length sleeves, softest cottons and pleated or empire style tops. I love my pants to be easy-on and they must have pockets !
Living in SoCal, we wear a lot of flip flops. Shopping for stylish but supportive ones with done arch is alwsys fun.!
Having the blessing of “nine” grandchildren, nothing gives me more pleasure than to shop for them. Six are boys and three are girls. I LOVE shopping for my granddaughters. I love buying beautiful dresses or anything girly for them. 🙂
Good morning! When my children were little, buying clothes for them was always so much fun. Now that they’re grown up, I’ve gotten back into my clothes and I think sweaters and jackets (casual and dress up) are something I always look out for. Even though tote bags aren’t clothing, I sure stop to look at them. I have too many, something my husband doesn’t understand about women. “Like how many do you need?” “Oh my!” I reply , “I need one for the books I’m reading at the moment, one to “carryall” in the car, one for my doll info, one for house design ideas, beach totes and one because it’s orange and white!” LOL. And not to mention the bags we have for groceries.
On a sad note- we lost the baby robin I had mentioned last week or so. The little one who always hung out in front of the house. We have no idea what happened to him but we found him laying by our garage. Now, I’m thinking of him flying in celestial skies!
I have a thing for jackets and coats. I have a good number of them though so I try not to focus on them too much. I typically wear a cardigan at work (lightweight in the summer to keep the air conditioning chill off to heavyweight in the middle of winter) so I like shopping for those too.
I enjoy buying clothes for my grandchildren. Only one of the four is a girl though. She likes pretty clothes but the boys are pretty hard to impress clothing-wise.
Hope you have a good day.
Take care.
Trying again, lost the fist comment! I really don’t like shopping for myself at all! I’s much rather look at things for my house than anything for me, Jeanne. Now, doll clothes—-THAT’S what I love to shop for! My granddaughters are at the age now, where they don’t wear those pretty little dresses and outfits like I used to buy them. And the grandsons, well, they don’t care what they have on, as long as it is some sort of super hero!
Sorry about the little robin, Laura. I’ve had that happen too.
About the only things I wear are jeans, tshirts, and Columbia fleece. Switch to shorts in the warm months. Pretty boring. So, not much of a clothing shopper here. It seems my main stores are Kohl’s and Costco. Love shopping at fabric stores though, and it is so fun to shop for dolly clothes and accessories for them.
Rebecca’s (the person’s) newest necklaces are lovely. It’s so nice to be able to see these on and off of Rebecca (the doll). She looks beautiful in all of them. And not only do we have a chance to win, if we don’t win the giveaway, we can still win by buying our favorite(s) on Etsy.
If I were going shopping, what would I most like to shop for? I buy a lot of my clothes online. I guess I don’t like trying things on, and I do like taking a couple of days to decide. I have been known to go shopping at the grocery store — I don’t mean looking for tonight’s dinner, I mean strolling through the store to find things that are new and different that I didn’t know were available. But of things to wear, I suppose I like looking at jewelry. When I was 10, I read that Egyptian pharoahs wore jewelry of gold, ivory, coral, turquoise, and lapis. I didn’t know what lapis was so I looked it up — a dark blue stone shot with silver or gold. I decided that someday I would have some. About 35 years later, it became popular, and after several years of looking, I found the lapis earrings I wanted at a Native American art store, so I got them for my 50th birthday.
I’ll come back tonight to read what everyone else chose — and tomorrow we’ll see Addy’s new dress, complete or nearly.
I like to shop for very basic clothing items such as good bluejeans, cotton tops. I also love bluejean jackets. That’s about it…pretty boring but that’s what I like! Love all of the necklaces…such talent!
I’m not really much of a shopper, but I do like buying clothes for the grandchildren–at least until they get old enough to have their own opinions on what they think looks good! If I’m shopping for myself it would have to be shoes. I have a lot of shoes and have no problem buying more!
Well, my favorite item to shop for are feminine skirts and dresses. They are difficult to find sometimes. I also like soft cotton sweaters and tees. L.L. Bean used to have a lot of things I loved, but now not so much. When I go to the antique store I love to peruse the vintage/ antique jewelry. I know that isn’t clothing, but I like to look. I have found a couple of enameled pins with swarovski crystals. One is blue enameled lilies and the other is a circle pin of purple violets with yellow crystals.
How fun to have a giveaway and on my birthday no less!! I’m so glad I was born in what is actually my favorite month of the year, if we aren’t counting holidays. It’s been a beautiful day here, full of sunshine. The peonies are in full bloom and some are already blooming out.
So sorry about the little robin, Paula. I always cry when that happens. My animal love runs very deep. On a cheerier note, a little sparrow fell out of the gutter at my grandparents when I was a child and I raised him with help on bread soaked in milk and he grew big and strong and was released. he came back to the feeder and I knew who he was for quite a while. Maybe why sparrows are one of my favorite birds to this day. drab in color, but always sweet to each other.
I love to shop for long, loose dresses to wear at home as robes. Part of my fibromyalgia symptoms is a problem with tight clothes. Dresses are more comfortable and stylish than what is sold as house dresses which are too fuddy duddy for this 62 year old.
Donna
Thanks everyone…
What a fun day we would all have if we went shopping together! It was fun to read about everyone’s favorite pieces when shopping….
There are a few hours left if you haven’t left a comment for the drawing…
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Laura,
I too love animals. I liked your bird stories – the one today and the little inpatient baby bird a few days ago.
Our old neighborhood had a tame crow living amongst us and if that wasn’t a wonderful experience. One day my husband went to drive the kids to school and “Gizmo” wanted to go too- so he sat on the roof of our van. My husband had to get out and coax him down from the roof. Gizmo would follow our son when he got to our street on his way home from school. That bird was the most fascinating character.
How could I forget to say. There must be two baby robins because another one was hopping out in front of the window I sit by. I think this baby was the one I’ve been seeing. I was so happy but still sorry the other one died. The baby robin who died was bigger- none the less, still heartbreaking. We put him in a safe place.
I’m late today so maybe I won’t qualify but I like the #3 necklace. I used to shop for Riya, my only granddaughter, and treated shopping at TJMaxx for dresses like an Easter Egg Hunt. Fun and inexpensive but good brands. Now she doesn’t wear the cute little dresses as she goes to Catholic school and wears uniforms. Lots of doll clothes on eBay. I’ve bought a couple of pairs of white jeans lately with embroidery down the pant legs. I have a neat pair of Lauren blue jeans with a dragon on the pant leg. When someone compliments them, I tell people it’s better than having a tattoo! I really enjoyed reading about everyone’s shopping habits.
HI Susette,
You aren’t too late… I’ve still got an hour and a bit to stay up before I do my drawing!
I enjoyed seeing what everyone shopped for too!
Your “dragon” pants do sound like they get you lots of comments!
Thanks Susette,
Blessings, Jeanne
