I’ve made a lot of Spring and Easter Dresses since I started selling my doll clothing on Ebay in 2006. As long as there are pretty new fabrics that come out each Spring, and customers who want what I make, I’ll keep making more. In case you are new to my blog, I LOVE TO SEW!
My “girls” secretly planned a St. Patrick’s Day Parade without me knowing it, and I got wind of a new Easter Parade being planned for Saturday. I told them I would help with this one and found as many pictures in the archives as I could to share with you.
If you want to see the details on a dress, just click on the picture. It will enlarge.
Let’s see who is starting things off…
It’s a long parade…are you still watching?
Still watching? We’re getting close to the end…
Well, did you stay for the whole parade? There were lots of dresses to look at, and I hope you saw something you hadn’t seen before! Now it’s time to fold up your lawn chair and head home! See you next year!
I won’t even ask you if you had a favorite, BUT…if you did, I’d love to know which one it was! :o)
Tomorrow is Easter and I won’t have a written post, but I’ll put something on for a post.
See you soon,
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, that was pretty amazing, don’t you think? Every dress represents a whole lot of pleasure for some lucky auction winner. That’s a lot of happiness that you’ve contributed to the world in just one way, and you’ve contributed happiness in lots of other ways, including this blog, as well.
It was fun to see some of your old dolls as well as some of your older designs. One of my favorites was Isabelle in the pink dress that showed up twice in your parade. I’m very fond of the turquoise one from the last auction, and there is something I really like about the blue one on Samantha that looks like a variation of the turquoise dress pattern. The fabric is a lovely shade and the fabric pattern has a suggestion of an Asian influence while the style is very western — it’s very nice and period appropriate. I’ll love coming back later in the day to see what other people choose.
I really like the settings behind some of the dresses, but I think you are right to change the kinds of backgrounds you use to keep your auctions looking fresh.
Have a very happy Easter. I’ll see you tomorrow here tomorrow.
Thank you Marilyn, for your very kind words. You always have a way of making me happy that I sew!!!
Everyone thinks I bring them happiness with my dresses but I get such joy myself from aewing. It works both ways.
I did that Isabelle’s dress made it twice …so did Noel’s blue dress…
Samantha dress WAS the inspiration for your turquoise dress. I think I improved the pattern in a few areas.
I’ve been making some “nest” cookies for tomorrow’s picnic…
Thank you again Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh my goodness! Being asked to pick a favorite is like being asked which one of my children is my favorite. Can’t be done. Each outfit is so beautifully unique. ?
However, there are two that really “spoke” to me. For some reason, number three in the parade, the purple dress with white buttons, brought back memories of my dear Grandmother, Thora. The fabric simply looked like a fabric she would have chosen. What’s more, when I zoomed in on the dress, I was so pleased to notice that the buttons are exactly like buttons I inherited from my husband’s Grandmother, Velma. And then I also enjoyed number four in the parade. I loved the simplicity of the A-line, the soft aqua pattern in the fabric, and the eyelet lace color embellished with the tiny buttons. I LOVE white eyelet!
Thanks so much for the lovely Easter Parade.
A very Blessed Easter to everyone.
Hi Beth and thank you for your sweet compliments on my dresses. The white vintage buttons came from my sister in PA years ago.
I enjoyed seeing the Aqua print dress on Kit too. It was one of my simplest dress but still sweet.
Thank you so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
My, my…you’ve done such a spectacular job in capturing beautiful Spring enchantment in the rich pastels and other colors woven into the cloths that you’ve chosen for your pretty dolls over the years. I do have to say though, that I do have a favorite and that is Addy’s beautiful dress. Nevertheless, the Easter parade was breath-taking and well worth watching through to the end.
May your weekend be a blessing to you in a multitude of ways.
Thank you Becky…
It is fun for me to look back at the fabrics I’ve chosen over the years. What I really see a difference in is the way I posed my dolls and took their pictures AND the sleeves…especially the older ones I made. I think I have improved on them. They used to be huge…:o)
Thanks Becky,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a spectacular parade! There are many I’ve never seen before. Jeanne, your outfits are just beautiful. I love your creative and sewing abilities. There are so many dresses I like, so I don’t know which I like best. The Little Darling’s dresses are just sensational and of course I love all the American Girl dresses.
Thank you for sharing the Easter parade with us. The girls should be so proud that they pulled it off so nicely!!
Hi Paula,
I’m glad you enjoyed the parade…from the littlest to the biggest girls. They did a good job today, didn’t they?
Thanks so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a wonderful collection of beautiful girls and dresses! In addition to enjoying the dresses, I also liked seeing all your staging materials and backgrounds. I’m not sure it was my favorite (there are too many), but I was quite taken by Molly’s outfit with the pleated skirt (she is standing in the kitchen). It may not be as fancy as some outfits, but it is so bright and sunny and your pleats are so sharp and accurate.
Happy Easter to all!
Take care.
Hi Charlotte,
Thank you for the compliments on Molly’s yellow and pink Easter dress. I still remember making that one…thinking it was fabulous…not so much now…but it was cute on Molly at the time. The background was from one of the big American Girl Scenes and a settings books I used to own.
Thank you Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
Wow, what a parade of lovely outfits—–and then some! Oh, Jeanne, I could NEVER have enough time to sit here and find my favorites! They are all so beautiful and charming, and everything else! Either I have a very short memory or something, but most of them I have never seen before. It was like seeing them for the first time—and it was! Thank you for putting this lovely Easter Parade together!
By the way, I remember singing “In my Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it”, remember that? I remember it being on the radio all the time right before Easter, and singing along! Happy times!
Hi Linda,
I’m glad you saw some new dresses today…I was certain I had shown them all before so I’m happy you saw some new ones.
I don’t remember the song about the bonnet…but maybe if I heard it…??
Have a wonderful Easter weekend,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, surely you remember the song “Easter Parade” written by Irving Berlin? He wrote that back in 1933, way before our times, but it was a popular song around Easter time. then Judy Garland and Fred Astaire starred in the movie “Easter Parade” in 1948, and they sang that song in that movie. I know, before your time, but I can’t think you haven’t heard of it!
HI Linda,
I googled “Easter Parade” and Yes, I have heard of it… just was drawing a blank I guess. I watched a video of Irvin’s version, then I saw one by Perry Como, so I watched it, and then I saw one by Bing Crosby and listened to his… Thanks for reminding me…I’m glad I heard it again… Now, I’ll be like Joy and singing it all day long!
Thanks, Blessings, Jeanne
That’s an amazing parade! If I had to choose one, it would be Lian with the green bear and the smocked dress. I think I counted 85 pictures of the parade and even more participants. What an accomplishment to bring a whole town, not just a village, to an Easter Parade! Congratulations! And Happy Easter to all.
Hi Susette,
I hadn’t counted them, so I was just as surprised as anyone that there were 85 marchers!! That’s a good sized parade!
I’m glad you enjoyed it and wish you a very happy Easter as well!
Blessings, Jeanne
I’ll be watching the parade all day. So many beauties to enjoy. Funny how the dollies change also. I can see many of the dresses on the American Girls downsized for the Little Darlings or the Effner Boneka dolls. The My Meadow dolls are very popular right now too. Love the smocking. Great designs and like Paula, many I haven’t seen prior. Now the Easter bonnet song from Linda will be in my head all day! Haven’t heard that one in a long time.
It was so fun seeing the parade. Most of my little 10ers are still in their Christmas sweaters. Definitely need to break out some spring/summer outfits. Let’s see, where are they now?
Happy Easter to everyone!
Hi Joy,
I’m glad you have enjoyed the parade today…and especially glad you may have seen some new dresses.
You’ve got enough 10er’s that you could have your own Easter Parade, Joy.
Happy Easyer to you and everyone too!!
Blessings, Jeanne
What a lovely parade of dresses. It is interesting to see that you’ve used to same fabric different ways on different dolls. My two favorite happen to be the two I recently helped you name, Springtime in the South and the last one with the Easter Egg Roll. I also like Addy’s and the pink and white roses on Eden. The bonnet could almost pass for Civil War even though this dress is 1950’s.
Easter Blessings to everyone.
Hi Laura,
I was pretty sure which dresses you would like best. I’m glad you enjoyed the parade.
Yes, a very Happy Easter to you too, Laura.
Blessings, Jeanne
You are right it is too hard to pick a dress…but that darling 2piece lavendar play ensemble on the Asian Little darling is so freaky cute.
Best wishes for a nice quiet Easter!
((hugs))
HI Kathie,
Well, I don’t know about quiet, but it would be nice to maybe sneak in a nap… after church, the picnic and then taking my mom home… doubt that we get one though.
Thanks for the compliments on Lian’s little lavender set. That is one of the few pants/capri sets that I have done… I’m glad you noticed it!
Blessings and Easter Wishes to you too,
~ Jeanne
They are all lovely, Jeanne, but I especially like anything with smocking! I think Molly’s is my favorite of the smocked ones—I even have some of that same floral print fabric! And, of course, I’m always drawn to Janie’s (I think it is? brunette LD) purple dress and bonnet. That has been a favorite of mine since the first time I saw it.
Have a blessed Easter!
