I added a “surprise” post on Sunday and several of you saw it… well, I think a few more than several. I couldn’t wait until Monday’s post to share them, so I added a link to the listings on Ebay for both dresses. Ten Ping, my little 8″ Ruby Red Galleria cutie is just that… as cute as can be in this sweet little pink dress. It might be simple, but it sure makes me smile when I see her in it! Here are a couple of my favorite photo’s from our session…
Noel’s dress looks equally as darling on her and she is standing on my cutting table wearing this dress like she’s going to be allowed to keep it… sorry, Noel, that’s not the way things work around here…but I promise you, there will be more to model…Here are a few shots from her Ebay photo shoot…
I let the girls pick their favorite “group” shot, and this is the one they picked…
Marilyn mentioned something about everyone not knowing just how tiny these girls were…and thought maybe if I showed them next to something familiar, it might give a better idea of their size. I decided most everyone knows of the American Girls and how big they are, so I placed Noel and Ten Ping next to Eden… and they do look extra tiny beside her.
I mentioned I had such tiny scraps, I wasn’t sure I could even get hair bows made for the girls…but miracle of miracles, my scraps were just enough…barely enough! I rounded up every single scrap I could find on my cutting table and ones I had tossed aside and this is what was left from that fat quarter I started with. Not much, is it?
I used a piece of tulle (netting) for the back side of both bows…Here is Ten Ping’s tiny bow… it’s the tiniest bow I know I’ve ever made… there was no way to attach a snap clip to it, so I added a tiny white ball head pin and the winner can just stick it through the hair bow and into their dolls hair.

~ Ten Ping’s Spring Fever dress ~
Well, I know this is short, but my day was long, so I am retiring to bed!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Good choice of something we are familiar with to give a sense of size. Eden clearly wants a dress like that too, but there may not be even enough for a pocket on an AG size dress. The tulle was an inspired idea — anything else would have been too thick. These outfits may look simple, but they have a great deal of charm. I wonder if Ten Ping’s dresses could also fit Vogue dolls.
Hi Marilyn,
I’m glad you suggested showing the girls next to something. Even I am amazed at how little they look next to Eden. They really are sweet little girls!
I think charming is the perfect word for their dresses… Spring Charm would have been a good title too…I’ll have to save that for another time…
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
I saw your post yesterday too! Those dresses are just plain adorable! That was genius to make the bow with netting in the back, Jeanne!
Wow, they ARE tiny dolls! Like Marilyn wondered, could they fit Vogue Ginny dolls? What about Madame Alexander Storybook dolls?
I have a full day planned, what with the weather being so nice, and trying to get my dolls changed over from Easter to ???
Hi Linda,
Thank you for your sweet compliments on my dresses. I am crazy about both dolls. I was debating about giving Ten Ping a slight face up…her blush is a little bit too orange to suit me. I’d like to strip her and give her a more pink toned look…just a thought…
Thanks Linda,
Enjoy your day…it’s beautiful here too!!!
Blessings, Jeanne
I saw the dresses yesterday too. They are so sweet. I knew they were for small dolls, but I really didn’t realize how small until I saw them next to Eden. I am even more impressed than I was before. Tiny work is so much more difficult. Speaking of tiny, those tiny hair bows are darling. They were the perfect finish to the outfits.
Hope you have a good day.
Take care.
Thanks Charlotte,
Sometimes the simpler the dress, the sweeter it looks. I am very happy with how these dresses turned out. Thank you for your kind words.
Blessings, Jeanne
What a sweet bow and precise work too! Can I come to your sewing room and drool? Your work is splendid and goes so well with the doll of choice.
Blessings.
Hi Becky,
Oh yes, please come and we’ll spend rhe day doing dolly talk and drooling over new ideas!
Thanks Becky,
Blessings, Jeanne
Great to see the darling outfits all ready for a new home. Good use of scraps too.
I have several Vogue/Madame Alexander outfits that I use for Ten Ping. They fit. However, the shoes do not or not how how I prefer.
Supposed to get some sprinkles today, which is good, or I would have to water. Weather has been in high 70’s.
How are the new chicks doing?
Hi Joy,
I should keep my eyes out for a little Ginny doll…no…I better not… Ten Ping will be my only little girl her size.
We are having a beautiful day here today… supposed to get up to 73! My hubby felt well enough before chemo tomorrow, so he said let’s go on a road trip. I just found out about a new fabric store and he’s taking me there!
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Happy Monday!
Hope the new fabric store is a good one. Would Ten Pings dress fit Riley? There are lots of Rileys out there . The pantaloons are so cute!
Have a good week!
Hi Kathie,
The new fabric store was fun…they sold their fabrics for $1.00 a pound. I got several pieces of silk dupioni…even George was helping me dig through the piles…
I’m not sure of Riley size, but I do have my old patterns for her..I might check.
Thanks Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
I once made fairly complicated dresses as designed by Riya for herself, her American Girl doll and for Ten Ping. Green, puffy sleeves with bands of white, a white sash with a bow on a dropped waist and a flower. It was quite challenging. I won a tiny Ginny doll with complete wardrobe of clothes and the furniture wardrobe like the one you repainted, Jeanne. The whole set went for $20 on eBay. The clothes weren’t even mentioned in the listing nor the pictures. No way would I sew for that doll. I found a Dutch outfit for her with wooden shoes that will go to Riya in June when I visit for her dance recital as the whole set went home with her the last time she visited.
Have fun on your drive, especially with a visit to the new fabric store. Hopefully there’s a good hardware store close by. Love the dressed and the bow. So cute and clever as well.
Hi Susette,
I remember your green doll dresses and actually had written them down because I was going to show an easy way to makes leaves.
I also remember you being surprised when your Ginny wardrobe arrived!
The new fabric store was great but the quilt shop we hit right before coming home was superb!
Blessings, Jeanne
Those little dresses are so cute. I really like your little Noel doll. The more I see her, the more she reminds me of German made dolls. I think it is the facial structure. Next to Eden they both look miniscule by comparison.
Hope you enjoy the trip to the new fabric store. You’ll have to show any new goodies you may acquire to us. It’s a great day for a road trip.
Hi Laura,
I agree that Noel looks German…I just love her sweet face.
We are on our way home now and I did find a few goodies…I’ll share!
Blessings, Jeanne
Just a side note, but the Heartstrings dolls in the Effner sculpt are around 8 inches. Then you would have a little sis for Noel and buddy for Ten Ping. They are adorable and are made by Jo’s dollshop. I’ve seen several buddy outfits for the Heartstrings doll and the Boneka Effner doll. Just putting out ideas for more outfits.
Oh Joy,
STOP!!! I can’t buy any more dolls… I just can’t! I was so good about thinning out my group and now you are tempting me with more dolls… HELP!
Just kidding, I have seen the Heartstring dolls… and they are sweet, but I’m going to just stick with Ten Ping… although… there might be alot of ladies who have the Heartstring dolls. No… I can’t!
Thanks Joy! :o)
