I’m going to have to make sure and take my pictures of this dress set during the day and maybe even outside, or you will never see how the hat goes with it. My pictures are maybe a little bit better than the ones last night, but not much. The hat looks pretty icky in the pictures. I’ll get it right eventually.
Okay, so who thinks they guessed it right… One of you hinted… Joy did… It’s an Easter dress for 10″ Patsy Tonner. I can’t remember what her last dress was, so it was time. I only had a scrap of this fabric and wanted to use it up because it went so well with the little Easter basket. The basket is too heavy for her to carry, as it’s resin, but it looks cute just sitting beside her.
If you click on the pictures they will enlarge.
I still have to hem the dress, finish decorating it, sew on the snaps and buttons in back, make a slip, probably thigh highs too… so I have plenty left to surprise you with! Okay, ready to see some more pictures?
I hope this holds you over till Monday. I’ll probably post a reminder about my “Sisters in Blue” set on Sunday, as it ends Sunday evening.
See you soon,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, she is just beautiful! Using the lace on her bodice is such a good idea. The size of the lace was what made me think the dress would be a larger girl. I wasn’t thinking about all the possible ways you might use the lace. Silly me! I am completely captivated with the tiny bands on her sleeves! They are so tiny and your work is so neat and clean. I’m looking forward to the finishing touches. I always love your stockings and slips.
Hope you have a good day. Looks like rain here all day.
Take care.
HI Charlotte,
Thanks for your sweet comments on Patsy’s dress. Those ARE some pretty little cuffs on her dress… I think I might have to put some sleeve headers in the cap of her sleeve to pull them up just a bit.
I might have to have a surprise on her slip… just to keep you guessing!
Thanks Charlotte…it looks like rain all day here too…
Blessings, Jeanne
Morning, Jeanne! Yes, as Charlotte says, the tiny bands around the sleeves also caught my eye. As someone who “tries” to sew for dolls, I can appreciate the skill you have! The whole ensemble is just adorable and the little Easter basket just fits in! It looks like Patsy is already looking for Easter eggs!
The color of the hat looks all different on my monitor today. It is kind of lavender today, but yesterday it was tan. What a difference lighting can do!
I’m off now to do some vacuuming and getting last minute things together for our son and his family when they arrive tomorrow. Hope we have a good weather week, but you know how that goes!
Have a good Sunday!
HI Linda,
I do have some tiny Easter eggs and might have to spread them out on the “grass” when I take my pictures for Ebay. Thank you for your compliments on this set, Linda.
The hat looks all different colors on my monitor too…
I hope you get all your cleaning done today…it seems to be a good day for it since it’s raining…I’m assuming it is there, like it is here…. kind of a crummy day here.
Thanks Linda and you have a nice weekend AND week too.
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh Jeanne, Patsy is so very charming in these photos. What an elegant dress and hat you’ve made for her. There’s just something about the colors in that fabric that just make Patsy look so vibrant. Thanks for sharing your beauty with us.
Becky
Thank you Becky,
I think Patsy’s blue/green eyes do work well with this fabric. I think Linda said yesterday, it reminded her of jelly beans and now every time I look at it, that’s what I think of.
I think it will look better when I get her socks and shoes and slip under the dress. It still looks a bit unfinished to me… but thank you for your sweet words.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings, Jeanne
I’m glad you had enough fabric for Patsy. The outfit just looks lovely. Hat the perfect topping. I’m wondering if you took a photo from the top down, perhaps with her sitting, if the lighting would change? Or one of her holding the hat or it propped up against her? Not that I am a camera expert by any means. You know, running through a field with hat flying behind. Like Ann of Green Gables with hat always hanging down her back. Love this hat and dress too.
Sun about to come out from behind the fog. A beautiful day awaits.
HI Joy,
You guessed right…it was Patsy and I just barely had enough to make her this dress. She does look pretty in this color and I’m determined to get a good picture of the lavender hat somehow! I can see I need to experiment a little bit.
I guess we’ve switched weather patterns… today you are sunny and we have rain…most likely all day long!
We have a belated birthday lunch for my hubby over at Sara’s family’s house in just a little while, and then maybe when I get home, I can sew on it some more. My morning was taken up with other things…
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
I loved the Anne of Green Gables reference. Working in natural light might do the trick, but it would also be a good time to try the “hat hanging down her back” look.
“Clean and neat” work is a great compliment. That’s what we really want — every good idea has to include clean and neat or even the best idea won’t shine through.
I’m always pleased when you make something for a doll I have, but I’m also pleased when you make something for one I don’t have — and I get to hang on to the money a little longer.
This dress seems to be coming together very quickly. Perhaps it’s because you are making only one. By the time we tune in on Monday, it may be listed.
Hi Marilyn,
I’ve never made a Anne of Green Gables dress for any of my dolls… I might have to put that on my list…
Thanks so much for your kind compliments on my sewing and my pictures… It might take me a while to figure things out, but I eventually get there… I’ll get this color thing solved somehow.
Thanks for liking the things I make, even the ones that you don’t have dolls for… that is a sweet thing to say.
I’m hoping for Monday too…. let’s see if it happens…
Blessings, Jeanne
That is certainly a lovely print that sets off her eye color beautifully. You’ve made a believer of me on the sleeve headers. They make all the different in not having to pluck at the sleeves to keep them puffy. Thanks for a great hint and it didn’t take very long to make and stitch them in. Details, details!
I’m still recommending a light box; easy to make with a few cheap picture frames and it will bounce the light up on her face and eliminate the shadows from the hat yet without glare. Lots of hints on Google for how to make one, and it folds out of the way when not in use. Have a good rest of the weekend.
We have had clouds rolling through all day but no rain. We could still use some here in Southern California.
HI Susette,
I’m a little late at getting my last 2 comments answered. This fabric is very pretty on Patsy and the hat mold that I made from the Sculpey fits perfectly on Patsy like it does Noel. I think the sleeve headers are in order for this dress.
I might seriously have to consider that light box you showed me…
We got your clouds and rain here today… pretty gloomy day from start to finish.
Thank you Susette,
Blessings, Jeanne
Patsy looks very sweet in her blue print dress. The blue matches her eyes so well. The little hat is just perfect. I didn’t get to guess yesterday, but I assumed that because the basket looked so tiny it was for one of the smaller girls. I forgot about Patsy. I agree, the tiny sleeve bands are amazing when I think of how small she is overall. Now I have to go find the smallest doll I ever had. She is about 3 inches tall and has sleep eyes, no lashes, but sleep eyes. I played with her a lot in my dollhouse. Her wig and clothing was long ago ruined, but maybe I could find some way to re-wig her. Hmmm I don’t know, I have to find her first.
A surprise on Patsy’s slip? A bunny perhaps?
Thank you Laura,
I thought a few people would guess it had to be a smaller doll because I only have 2 of the hat molds..at least now… the one I bought and the one I made. It’s nice that this one works for Noel AND Patsy both.
If you find your doll, please send me a picture so we can all see her.
Yes, a surprise on Patsy’s slip… you’ll have to wait and see…
Thanks Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
