I don’t know why Nyssa spends so much time in her box… She actually spent the entire year (2016) in her box. Oh sure, I’d take her out every once in a while just to check on her and make sure she was okay. She actually shares a box with my other Kaye Wiggs doll, Hope. They seemed fine, so I’d put her back, until the next time I felt the need to see her face. Well, when I see her in this dress I’m making for her right now, it makes me wonder what am I thinking by not sewing for her… I promise I’ll try to do better!
I found a red straw hat I think I’ll put with this dress…It looks cute and it’s a great match for the color red in her dress. My pictures are all of mostly the same shot… all of them are of her sitting, but I posed her head and her hands a few different ways. This was all I could do today… 7 measly buttons sewn on her dress. I wasn’t laying on the couch eating Bon Bon’s though… just thought I better let you know! :o) I’ll see what I can get done on it tomorrow.
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
The little red hat is a delightful touch. Nyssa must be so happy with such a pretty dress. I love the choice of buttons. I think they are perfect. I hope you have a good day!
Thank you Charlotte,
I was so glad that this hat matched her dress like it did. I think it will make a sweet addition to the set.
Thanks so much for your compliments.

Nyssa looks so sweet. 😀
Thank you Christine,
I’m so glad Nyssa is finally getting a dtess. She’s so excited! Thank you for your comment.
Blessings, Jeanne
Nyssa looks wonderful. This dress seems to have gone together with remarkable ease. Maybe you can schedule one for the other pattern in the near future. It looked just as cute — and Easter is coming.
Hi Marilyn,
I totally agree with you and think that other pattern will be used soon. The dress has come together remarkably well. I’m sure it has to do with Marsha pattern.
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Beautifully done, Jeanne. Nyssa and her dress remind me of the Gunne Sax dresses/models of the past. It’s just a lovely outfit.
I’m glad you didn’t try to overdo yourself on Tuesday….you’re giving energy where it’s most needed.
Take care and blessings.
Hi Becky,
My wedding dress was made from a Gunne Sax pattern and Nyssa’s dress does remind me of that style.
Thank you for your sweet compliments on it.
I’m sitting in the waiting room while my hubby gets a CT Scan done…and am sewing the snaps on the back of Nyssa’s dress. Maybe I can get her hat decorated this evening and soon I’ll be able to get it listed!
Blessings, Jeanne
Now that GunneSax was mentioned, I can’t stop thinking about how much I enjoyed the designs. I have several vintage blouses, collected over the years from thrift stores. Wish I had more.
Nyssa looks lovely with the hat addition. Perfect for now or those summer days ahead.
Thoughts with you and George today.
Hi Joy,
I used to have a ton of Gunne Sax dresses and blousrs too. They were my favorite kind…so romantic and feminine.
I’m ready for Spring…so is Nyssa…I like her hat too.
Thank you Joy
Blessings, Jeanne
Nyssa looks so sweet sitting there, so prim and proper! Love the little straw hat that goes so well too! I am wondering how much different in size is Nyssa from Betsy McCall? I know that the hat she is wearing is probably too small for the 18 inchers, if it is one of those Cindy sent. Can the Wellie Wishers and Betsy wear her clothes, or are they too big or long? I really don’t know much about BJ dolls.
Thank you for spotlighting my Felicity in yesterday’s blog. I was very surprised to see it, and really don’t remember sending that to you! I loved hearing Laura’s take on Felicity dolls, and she knows her stuff! Joy’s doll is a beauty, and looks like an earlier one, just not the first with the ribbon at the wig line. By the way, does that ribbon go all around her head or just in the back?
Hi Linda,
Nyssa is just a hair short of 17″ tall. She’s a slick resin and is actually a little bit heavy. I really need to buy a stand for her instead of having her sit or be propped up by something all the time.
I’m not sure if the Wellie Wishers and Nyssa have the same size body. I’ll have to see. The WW are only 14″ tall so a dress length might be an issue.
You’ve asked me another question about the Felicity wigs that I don’t know. The ribbon on my Felicity’s wis can only be seen at the back of her neck…I bet Laura would know.
It was fun for everyone to see your Felicity dressed for bed. Your set ups ate always fun to look at.
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
The ribbon on my Felicity is only at the back of her neck. I sent along a picture of it.
Nyssa’s dress is very sweet and pretty. The black buttons look perfect. Adding the hat was a good idea too.
Wow Laura!! Such good information on Felicity. Again, your input was very helpful. I wanted to look for some of the older Felicity items/accessories but I can see on Ebay, they are few and far between.
It’s neat to hear all the girls talk about their dolls.
Thinking of you and George.
HI Paula,
Thank you for your kind compliments on Nyssa’s dress. She’s liking it very much and was happy that I found the red hat to go with it.
Yes, Laura is full of wonderful information, isn’t she. I’m going to try and figure out a way to save that information she posted about the American Girl dolls somewhere on my blog. My webmaster Sarah, gets back from Kenya in about 2 weeks so I’m going to ask her how and where I can put it.
It IS fun to hear everyone discussing their dolls…
Thanks so much Paula,
Blessings, Jeanne
Nyssa’s dress is so cute looking. I love the cheerful red print and the hat really complete it. I’m a real lover of doll hats, a doll can’t have too many. I also agree this dress came together very quickly for you, a real plus for a doll seamstress!. I, too, remember and loved those Gunny Sax dresses. I had my mom sew one for me from a pattern for my eighth grade graduation. I still remember it was the first time I had heels.
Thank you ladies for all the sweet comments on my doll knowledge. I’ll tell you that the main reason I know what I do about the PC girls and their items is back when my daughter downsized and I was looking to sell things for a fair price I noticed people stating years of clothing and nuances of the accessories. It did help me know what I wanted when I finally made own collection. I was silly enough to let a few pieces of clothing and accessories go for sale that I ended up having to re-buy later. I know some about Nellie, Kit and Julie and their collections because my daughter has them. But I have absolutely NO knowledge about the GOTY other than to recognize the dolls. Some people can name and recognize all pieces of their collection and also the AGOT line. My interest has always and only been the historicals. I do have the Sugarplum coat and wood fairy outfit as my only non-historical line outfits. Felicity makes an adorable wood fairy BTW.
Yes, Jeanne, the ribbon wig is only visible at the base of the neck. The last German made versions, the tan bodies (1991-1993 for the original three) have a very narrow strip of some sort of material like extremely narrow bias tape? at their forehead. That’s the way my PC 1991 German Samantha’s wig is.
Yes, Paula the old accessories are harder to find and you have to wait for affordable prices. It took me slightly over three years to complete Samantha’s and Felicity’s collections. The most elusive sets of Felicity’s in NIB and affordable were the Plantation Play version with the two battledores, shrewsbury cakes and her Town Fair outfit with the windmill ( most of those windmills didn’t survive well with kids).
With Felicity’s imminent return and depending if she gets more than the meet and underpinnings we’ve seen, I would expect the PC clothing/ accessories to be even more of coveted items.
Thanks so much Laura,
I’m glad you’re liking Nyssa’s dress so far. I just hemmed it… and got all the snaps sewn on while I was in the waiting room. I didn’t realize the straw hats I had fit Nyssa… she’s my doll that lives in her box to keep her resin from yellowing, so sometimes she misses out on things.
I am trying to decorate her hat with some ribbon I have.
Thank you again Laura, for all the help you’ve been to all of us when we had questions about our dolls. I just told Paula, I’d like to find a place on my blog to put your information so everyone could access it whenever they had a question. When Sarah gets back from Kenya in a few weeks, I’m going to have her help me figure out where I can put it. Thanks for being so willing to help those of us out who don’t know the answers!
Blessings, Jeanne
Just had to add to the Gunne Sax discussion. My wedding dress was a Gunne Sax. I still have it. I have another Gunne Sax dress that I wore to a high school homecoming. That was a while ago.
Hi Charlotte,
I wonder if Gunne Sax is still in business… probably not…that was a while back…but I sure did love their dresses. You could spot them a mile away.
Thanks Charlotte,
Blessings, Jeanne
