Day 3 of my Christmas Dresses for 2016…

I hope you don’t mind one more day of perusing my Christmas dresses from the past. I have a few more to share with you. I have been showing Christmas dresses on ONLY the dolls I have in my collection right now… if you missed yesterday’s post you can see it HERE, and if you missed Thursday’s post, you can see it HERE.

Let’s start off with a couple of dirndl’s on Kirsten. This was such a pretty and bright color combination but my pictures were pretty washed out… sorry… :o(

cimg3039

The next one on Kirsten wasn’t much better. I had a lot to learn about taking pictures..way-back-when! :o)

cimg6593

It’s funny… I don’t remember the name of the dress Addy is wearing, but I DO remember her little side kick was named “Chester!”

cimg3086

Oh, yes! Who could ever forget this dress on Nyssa? Not me! It was the one that took me at least a dozen days to complete… All the raveling fabric and the struggles I had with it were in my posts for what seemed like days upon days… Enjoy looking at this fabric, because you’ll never see it again!!!

cimg4702

Here’s a sweet dress on Molly in a 1940’s style…

cimg4840

Nyssa is up again in a pretty red and white and black Christmas dress. I loved this one, but it proved to be not so popular on Ebay. I think it didn’t sell the first time so I relisted it and then it sold… {just between you and me, I always blame that on something exciting on TV the night that it ended… perhaps Dancing with the Stars, or Survivor or NCIS…who knows… I’m sure it was one of those.} :o)

cimg5146

Now I have a string of 3 dresses on Rebecca…first up is a red and black Civil War dress that she looked wonderful in… I believe this was from last year…

cimg5325

Next up is a recent dress I called “Christmas Rose” with Rebecca showing off her Regency skills! :o)

cimg5585

Finally Rebecca is in one of my favorites…a beautiful red metallic plaid dress in the Civil War era again. (I have been searching Ebay for this fabric to no avail…) I only have a smidgen left and want to find some more of it. There is no name along the selvage so it’s not easy to search for it… just scroll through lots of pictures.

cimg5598

Here is Isabelle in a pretty red corduroy dress with white embroidered snowflakes. She was just a little baby when I made this dress for her. I think she’s been with me for 7 years now… how can that be?

cimg6325

Next up are 3 dresses on Nyssa again… first up is the first Christmas dress I ever made her… in a pretty Christmas print that I’m sure you’ll recognize…Addy was in a dress from this fabric yesterday…

cimg5949

And finally one Christmas we made her Christmas dresses from blue and green crushed velvet. She was so pretty in them…

Well, I hope these Christmas dresses made your last few days a little bit brighter. Now it’s time to get that shopping done…

See you Monday morning,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Love these posts, Jeanne. If I tip the screen back on my laptop, the color is much more intense on the first three dress pictures. I wonder how many of your followers have the Nyssa doll compared with the American Girl dolls. Perhaps that is why the dress didn’t sell as well. How did the survey come out on who had which brand of dolls and how many of them? Molly has always been my favorite in that red dress. Thanks for posting the lovely variety of Christmas dresses.

    1. HI Susette,
I tipped my ipad back and the color was better too… I guess that’s the trick for washed out pictures! :o)
Oh, I’m sure just a fraction of my readers have Nyssa or one of her “friends” as compared to the American Girl dolls. The AG dolls are much more common and bought.
I can’t even remember the survey… my mind must be going… oh dear…
I’m glad you enjoyed the Christmas dresses…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Kirsten in her outfits are so perfect for the season. She could be the main decoration.
Nyssa steals the show today. Love her in the green print as well as the blue velvet.
Has been a lot of fun seeing these beautiful dresses. I was just thinking, if you feel some of the photos are too washed out, couldn’t they be retouched as they say? Maybe darkened or whatever in a program? I do that a lot with black and white. Just thinking of the upcoming book by Jeanne Marie. 🙂

    1. Thanks Joy,
I do love seeing Kirsten in her many dirndl’s over the years… but she looks especially pretty in the Christmas ones…
Nyssa is highly underrated… she is such a pretty doll, but hard to capture her personality on my camera. It is so much fun to change her looks using different wigs and eyes…
Most of my pictures just needed better lighting back in the day when I took them. I can lighten them with my photo program, but sometimes it needs more help than that.

Oh, you are so silly, thinking of a book from me… although I went to an Arts and Crafts sale yesterday to see a friends display. She sells Chinese hair decorations…and she’s writing a book on how to make them… she’s pushing me to do more stuff for my business… and she’s a good person to pick her brain…
      Thanks Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. What fun looking at all the Christmas outfits. Kirsten’s dirndls are so unique. They are really quite beautiful compared to any doll outfits I’ve seen. I love the extra touch of the aprons being made out of old hankies. The crushed velvets are always so elegant for Christmas and look quite dressy on the girls. And of course, Rebecca in the plaid…as you know, I love that outfit. As mentioned yesterday by a few of your readers, I too have Scottish/English heritage. Plaids are wonderful. Especially red plaids.

Well, it’s back out on the streets again among all the shoppers. I’m so glad I can listen to Christmas music as I go. I get so emotional and humbled with the Christian songs and I sing (croak) at the top of my lungs. It brings such happiness and hope for all worries and fears this world sees.
Have a blessed day, Jeanne and George.

    1. Thank you Paula,
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the dresses on my girls… “some” more than others! :o)

So you’re hitting the shopping again? Sounds fun and if I were along I’d be singing right beside you… well, maybe not today… I’ve had a terrible cough for a week now and can’t seem to get rid of it. So maybe I’d better just lip sync!
      Have fun today Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    2. Nice to learn of yet another reader with Scottish/English heritage! And glad, too, to hear I’m not alone in the emotion I feel when listening to some Christmas songs and hymns.I can just cry with a lovely arrangement of the sweet and simple “Silent Night,” and I just feel so awe-struck with renditions such as the Donny Osmond version of “Mary, Did You Know,” one of my favorites! Beautiful!

  4. Gosh, I thought I had already written today and find out that I didn’t! I had lots to do this morning and also a trip to the grocery store, so I guess it just slipped my mind.
You have made so many wonderful dresses, my gosh, where do you find all the inspiration for making them? I do remember most of the dresses, Molly looks so cute in that red dress, along with all the others in red. I seem to have an affinity for red at Christmas time! Isabelle once again steals the show with that adorable dress. I never saw that before. Then too, I love the crushed velvet dresses with lace! That never goes out of style!

    Have a wonderful Sunday, Jeanne!

    1. HI Linda,
Oh, my goodness… you are up and at em… aren’t you? Oh, I just looked at the clock..it’s later than I thought…
I hope I never run out of doll dress ideas… so far I haven’t… so if I can just keep going…
I like red dresses at Christmas too… nothing quite like red plaid either!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend too, Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. What a useful review. Do you have time for at least 2 more Christmas dresses? I can imagine a second volume of Jeanne Marie styles — Jeanne Marie at Christmas: Beautiful Doll Clothes for the Holiday Season. Joy is a splendid inspiration (the emotion, of course, but this time I meant Joy, your reader who wrote earlier).

I loved Kirsten’s plaid, and I’ll happily look at Rebecca’s Civil War era cap and dress any time, and I love Molly’s red too, and so does Lindsay, who chose it for Thanksgiving this year.

    1. OH Marilyn,
You are so silly… now you’re planning out my “second” book… I do like that title though… I have to admit!!! This is fun to think about even if it never comes to pass… but I met up with a friend who is totally into her business and she wants to get together with me to help me brand some things for my business… She is quit the savvy business person…. I could learn a lot from her…
      Thanks so much Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. such “merry and bright” Christmas dresses, Jeanne! I, too, am partial to red at Christmas, but the beautiful “Christmas Rose” is my absolute favorite! Never tire of seeing all your lovely doll clothes, especially the Christmas ones! Perhaps you could expand today’s viewing to give us “The Twelve Days of Christmas in Dolly Designs.” At least it’s another idea for your book, though I do love Marilyn’s title, too! Joy is so encouraging, and we are all hopeful you will create a book someday. Perhaps your friend with the business acumen will inspire you to go for the dream! Wishing you and your family a blessed weekend, Jeanne!

    1. Thank you Anne,
Everyone who reads my blog is so gracious when having to look at dresses they’ve seen over and over again, but still say such nice things about them…
I liked Christmas Rose too… it was darling in person!
Oh my… Twelve Days of Christmas in Dolly Designs…I may have to think on that one… :o)
Ariel is waiting for her book from the publisher I think… I can’t wait to see hers… she came to my house and brought over several ideas of book sizes and styles that can be made… I have to admit, it’s pretty intriguing…
I hope you have a wonderful weekend too, Anne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. I’m sure I can’t say anything more than what’s been said, but Jeanne, it’s just an honor to see your creations. I am especially fond of the dresses on Rebecca and Kirsten.

    Blessings.

    1. Thank you Becky,
I’m glad you enjoyed the dresses today too. I like Rececca in just about anything she wears…
      Have a wonderful Sunday…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Why limit what you are showing us to dolls you now have? Show us any dress that you love or that has a story you like or taught you something, and tell us what it was.

Jeanne Marie from Every Era: Beautiful Doll Clothes Representing America’s History
Jeanne Marie Through the Year: Beautiful Doll Clothes for Every Season
Jeanne Marie’s Ten Ping: Styles for America’s Smallest Immigrant Doll

I’m sure other people can come up with even better names and ideas. I always think it’s easier to fix things than to create them.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I almost missed this comment from you, but wanted to say, I think I will do some of my dresses from the “girls who got away!”
I love your titles… maybe YOU should write the book for me…and I’ll just supply the pictures! How’s that?
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne
