I had a very busy day and I’m so sorry I didn’t get your comments answered. I did read them all though. Someone gave us about 30 pounds of chicken tenders on Sunday. They were frozen but by last night they were starting to thaw out. We only have a chest freezer and it was pretty well full, so I HAD to get them cooked. I do have a big 18 quart roaster so more than half went in it. Rebecca rearranged the freezer and managed to find room for some in there. I set my roaster to cook on low all night and woke up to the smell of cooked chicken which actually was pretty nice…
I know, I know…that’s A LOT of chicken…My hubby had chicken on toast for breakfast…then he had a chicken sandwich for lunch and another chicken sandwich for dinner. I hope he’s not sick of chicken by the end of the week, because it looks like I’ll be making it every which way I can think of! :o)
Next I worked on getting my dolls that I sold boxed up… but I had to cut down the boxes first because they were too big… then they had to be taken to the Post Office.
I decided to do a little bit of baking for the nurses at the Cancer center when we go on Tuesday morning. Rebecca did my dishes and baked the chocolate chip cookies for me and I made some Mint Chocolate Cookie Bark… (HERE). Rebecca was “buttering me up” because she had a project she wanted me to work on for her…I think I’ll share it tomorrow… but it took up the rest of my evening. So that was my day… now it’s 10:45 and I still need to take a shower!
Oh well, how about some more Christmas dresses on my girls who no longer live here…
Let’s start off with two dresses on my Katie Effanbee dolls…
[If you click on any picture it will enlarge.]
How about two on Nellie?
This was one of my favorites on my 16″ Fall Four Seasons Kish doll… I do miss her beautiful hair and long pretty fingers…
Song was one of the Kish Chrysalis dolls and I loved this set on her. It’s hard to tell because the featherwale corduroy looks too bright, so I’m showing you 3 pictures so you can see it better. It was beautiful on her…
Here are a couple of Christmas dresses for Wren Kish, another of the Kish Chrysalis dolls…I couldn’t get my pictures to turn out right… I think they make Wren look fat, but in reality, this dress was so pretty on her…
This is one of my favorite Christmas dresses ever…
But I saved one of my VERY favorite Christmas dresses for last. I had to show 3 pictures of it too… one just wouldn’t do. It’s hard when you’ve made as many dresses as I have NOT to have LOTS of favorites… just bear with me! :o)
Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing Christmas dresses on my girls who have moved on. Occasionally I still look at these dolls on Ebay… just dreaming of “old times” I guess… It’s hard to let them go… do you ever pine over any you’ve let go?
Well, I better get going…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
White chicken chili. Stir fried vegetables with chicken. Turkey tetrazzini with chicken. Cranberries might not be bad with that either. We used to cook chicken with broth, soy sauce, and pineapple — thicken the sauce with cornstarch. Serve with rice and broccoli. Chicken in white wine, add mushrooms and sour cream. Chicken salad with celery and apples for crunch? A nice green salad with lots of chicken and those nice grape tomatoes, maybe some sugar snap peas, and biscuits on the side for a little warmth? Add the last of the cooked chicken to soup with lots of vegetables.
That’s a lot of chicken, but what a gift! Rebecca’s freezer rearranging really helped. If there’s anything better than 2 good hands and a lot of cooking experience, it’s 4 good hands and a talent for organizing.
I think your Nellie wore a blue dress with big sleeves and a pleated skirt once. I liked those pictures. The crushed velvet set that the burgundy dress was part of was one of my favorite series.
If I regret losing one of your dolls, it’s that Wren. Everything she put on was perfection. But you can’t run a business making outfits for dolls people aren’t buying for.
Have a good day recovering from all that wrapping. At least we know you’ll be well fed.
Wow Marilyn…what great ideas. I think you just planned out my menus for the week. I loved all the meals you suggested!
Wren was a doll I hated to let go. She truly was special and I remember opening her box and posing her all different ways that first day. I thought she was a real beauty and I was serious when I said I still look her up from time to time on ebay just to see her pretty face.
Thanks for all the suggestions Marilyn. ..we BOTH appreciate them. I think I’ll make out a grocery list of what I need to go with what you suggeated.
Blessings, Jeanne
Yes, the Wren doll was one of my two favorites along with the Song. It’s so hard to find Asian dolls. I remember the lavender background print on Song. I don’t usually care for the blond dolls, but Wren won me over in anything she modelled. The pictures are all Christmas gifts to us. Thanks for posting them.
Marilyn pretty well covered the chicken repertoire. Yum! What a nice gift for such a wonderful cook.
P.S. I never would have thought of placing the corduroy jacket front on the bias. It sure adds interest to the jacket. That’s why I love seeing your posts every morning, all the wonderful details. Thanks again.
Hi Susette,
Yes Wren is a very pretty doll. She was the prettiest of Helen’s dolls I think…
I know which lavender dress you mean for Song. It was my signature fabric for my Asian dolls.
Actually, truth be told…I cut Songs jacket out with the grain straight for the center back fold. There are no shoulder seams so the front ended up being on the bias just because of the way it was laid on the fabric. I liked the way it turned out. If I cut something out open in the back…that makes the back on rhe bias…just the opposite…

Loved Marilyn’s recipes. For me, there is nothing like Chicken Marsala over noodles. Yum.
Love the dresses on all, but Nellie makes me think that I really should find mine something other than her meet dress. Such as it is.
Must get those cards mailed out today!
Hi Joy,
Oh yum…chicken marsala..one of my all time favorites! My hubby just asked me if we hang marsala cooking wine left…sorry I told him! He was so sad!
We were looking for our Christmas cards last night yoo. My hubby just asked when was the last day to get Christmas cards out on time…it’s that time…
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
I think Marilyn had some good recipe suggestions! The first ones I thought of were chicken alfredo with pasta and chicken and dumplings. Chicken salad is always a hit at my house too. I’m enjoying all the past Christmas dresses posted today and yesterday, especially since I’ve sewn with so many of those fabrics! It’s always interesting to see what others have done with them.
Oh yum on Chicken Alfredo…one of Kristoffer’s apecislties…everyone has given me some great ideas!
I like to see other things made from my fabrics too!
Thanks so much Carolyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Marilyn should do a chicken cookbook! Wow, those dishes are making me hungry! I had a good recipe for chicken and dumplings, using the crockpot, really easy and so good. I put them in containers and in the freezer for a quick dinner. So good! I also love chicken with pineapple and soy sauce over rice. Chicken baked with wine and cream of chicken soup, Swiss cheese on top of the breasts and then bread crumbs too. Sorry, soup and wine mixture goes on over the cheese which is on the chicken, then bread crumbs crushed on top of the soup. Well, all the things Marilyn mentioned would work so well.
As far as those dresses, Wren is so pretty, but I think, for me at least, too melancholy for me. She wears her clothes very nicely though, but I like happier looking dolls. That 5th dress, Fall Four Seasons is really a pretty dress! I think that’s my favorite of the group.
HI Linda,
You are SO right about Marilyn doing a cook book…she’s got lots of great chicken ideas… and I’m going to use some this week…
When we got home this afternoon, Rebecca had made a big meatloaf and some mashed potatoes… maybe she figured we were sick of chicken! :o)
Oh yum…chicken with pineapple…one of my favorites! I just ate dinner, but my mouth is watering for all these chicken dishes! Thanks everyone…
My Fall Four Seasons doll had the prettiest long arms and beautiful fingers AND toes. I thought she was the prettiest of the dolls but always wanted to repaint her lips and leave off the outline…
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Lovely Christmas dresses, Jeanne. Always enjoy your details! I’ll add a few chicken recipes for your consideration: Chicken Parmesan; P.F. Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps (recipe at Damn Delicious); Chicken Fajitas; Chicken Quesadillas; Lemony Chicken and Orzo Soup (from Bon Appetit); and Easy Chicken Pot Pie (using frozen pastry). Can I come and join you?! 😉
HI Anne,
First of all, thank you for your sweet “dragonfly” card today! That made my day! I appreciate your kind words in it too.
Oh my goodness…more chicken recipes… I might have so many I’ll have to buy more chicken when this is all gone to make up all the things you’ve all mentioned! What a nice variety of recipes I’ve gotten today…I’m so glad I showed that big roaster filled with all that chicken!
Yes, do come and we’ll have a big chicken fest!
Blessings, Jeanne
You will be having chicken a lot. How about chicken stew. I make it with red potoes, carrots, onion and garlic. I also has broth and then sherry and itabkes in the oven. Sweet and sour chicken over rice, add onion, pepper and pineapple. Do you know what goulash is? -Chicken dredged in flour and paprika with onions, garlic and broth and served over egg noodles..I also make a slad in the summer with chicken, spinach, orzo, raddichio, fresh and dried tomotoes and capers and a lemon vinegrette. The recipe is a copycat from Romano’s Maccaroni Grille, Curried chciken salad with a dressing of mayonnaise, sour cream and curry powder and green grpaes and pecans or sliced almonds, and there is always chicken with BBQ sauce.
The Christmas dresses are lovely. I like the green on Nellie and the one you said is one of your favorites ever on Wren
Thank you Laura for your chicken suggestions! I am going to write all these ideas down and have them at hand so I don’t forget them. What terrific ideas you all came up with! I will be set for a long time and the next time someone offers me more chicken, I’ll just say, “Yes, please!”
Thanks for your compliments on my girls dresses! I’m glad you enjoyed them.
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,
How nice to receive chicken! I’m the neighbor that gets venison not that I don’t appreciate it I really do but truth be told I’d rather it was yummy chicken mmmmm ; ) Everyone gave you such great chicken recipes. Makes me want to cook some up right now. I really enjoyed the fashion show today and yesterday. I think my fav is also yours. I pray all went well today with Georges treatment and that he had a restful day.
I received my dolly slip the other day and it’s absolutely perfect I love the redesign. Thank you again.
Hugs
Ingrid
Thank you Ingrid,
I’m happy to have gotten all the chicken ideas too…saves me time thinking and not having to look them up. We like venison too…but I can only go it occasionally. ..chicken is so versatile and can be SO many ways.
I’m glad you liked the new slip design…it really will cut down on the bulk of the lace folded over at the waistline. Thanks for letting me know you received it.
George did have another good treatment day and has only experienced relatively mild symptoms of nausea and burning when he goes to the bathroom. He does have a lot of people praying for him.
Thank you Ingrid,
Blessings, Jeanne
