Yesterday I showed a few pictures my sister sent me of her hubby playing Santa… (actually I found out he had gone to a friends house after work to surprise some little girls…) If you missed that post, you can see it HERE. I asked if anyone wanted to make up a story or just tell what they thought was going on in the pictures, to make a comment or send me an email… I was hoping my sister or her hubby would be able to pick the story they liked best… and Tom did… He picked Bobi’s story… it WAS pretty sweet! Send me your address, Bobi, and I’ll get a prize sent your way. Thanks, everyone, for playing along. I loved everyone’s stories!
When I say I’m not ready for Christmas, I really mean it… We had a very ordinary day. My hubby and I did the leftover dishes from last night, had breakfast together, we ordered some books online that he wanted, Rebecca went to town to get a few more baking items, and then they worked on giving Reuben a Christmas “shave and a bath” and it took them hours… it was mostly Rebecca. While they were doing that, I did some alterations for them both. My hubby wanted me to add buttons to 2 shirts to make them look like they had button down collars. Then Rebecca had 2 pairs of workout pants that needed to be fixed. (I didn’t think anyone would want to see those sewing jobs, so I didn’t take any pictures) My hubby started some dinner when they got finished… yep, more chicken… Chicken Fettuccine this time. After dinner he wanted me to sit with him and watch a couple of movies… so I did. That was my day. Not very exciting was it, but I enjoyed it.
I don’t have one present bought, and I’m not worried about it…and I probably should be stressed about it, but I’m not. (I can remember one Christmas Eve when I was probably 13 or 14 and everyone was downstairs having fun and I was up on my bedroom finishing up a counted cross stitch picture for my mom… none of that this time!) Rebecca has been working on something for her dad… I’ll have to show you when it’s all done.
I did get a box in the mail from one of my dear readers… It was filled with something for everyone in my family… and we are saving ours for Christmas day. All of the presents were wrapped in the most glorious way you’ve ever seen. I was overwhelmed and humbled at her kindness to all of us. I just had to take a picture of everything to show you how beautiful the presents were wrapped. Thank you _____!
I have no idea what I’m having for Christmas dinner, but maybe a turkey…someone brought us one and I have it thawing in the frig…and I have a new recipe I wanted to try called Yam Biscuits.
I just stopped to read over my post and it sounds like a bummer of a post to me…. that’s not what I intended it to be… I wanted it to be a positive post.. It’s not about anything but my family… that’s what matters… no stress, no guilt, no worries, no expectations. I’m grateful that I have a loving hubby, who is fine with whatever happens or doesn’t happen, I have a daughter who is still living at home, and who is very helpful and willing to roll with whatever we do. We have food in our pantry, all our bills are paid, we have a nice warm house, and lots of love going around these days!
I don’t really know what my point is to this post… and I’m afraid it’s going to be my “best rambling” post ever… Sorry…
I haven’t had any time to sew (for dolls), I didn’t get any new fabric or knick knacks to show you, there’s no time for any new Christmas recipes, I’ve shown you all the Christmas dresses, so I was reduced to rambling.
Hopefully, my sewing will pick up in a few days and we’ll get back on track. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas Eve and give big hugs to those you love!
All my love and blessings to each and every one of you who take time to read my posts (or ramblings in this case!) I wanted to rewrite a whole new post after I hit the “publish” button, but I decided not to. There will be “better” ones coming soon. I promise!
Happy Christmas Eve!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
This is so nice. It’s like a little vacation. A stress free Christmas — or nearly Christmas — what a concept! Your house sounds warm and content, and one of you is going to bake cookies so the whole place smells as nice as it sounds.
Too often Christmas reminds me of a vacation story from one of my sisters. Her kids kept saying, “Why can’t we…? Their family always does … when they go on vacation.” Finally Linda’s husband said, “That is because they are having a vacation. We are having an ordeal.” Time to stop having an ordeal and start having Christmas.
Happiness and content — and cookies — to all of you.
Thank you, Marilyn, for not thinking my post today was a total dud. You have all year to plan for Christmas and here it is the day before and I’m still not ready…something seems strange, but it’s too late to do anything now so I’ll just work with what I’ve got.
Thanks for making me feel better.
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, your blog came today in the usual way, and I’m so happy it is there! Your so called “ordinary” day, would be heaven to most people on this earth! Just to have an ordinary day——and I’m including myself in that one! We just take for granted the most basic things. How many of us would love to have such a wonderful, warm, caring family like you do, have such expert skills that you do, and good health with eyesight, hearing, well, you get the idea.
I was stressed out what to get my two adult children, after getting all six grandkids presents. They decided they didn’t really want anything this year! Never in the past 46 years did I not give my children Christmas gifts! Stress melted immediately! We just get so concerned about what size, what color, etc. that we forget what we are really doing!
Oh my, I loved the packages you received! What fun that will be Christmas morning when you open them! What a wonderful reader you have! Congrats to Bobi too, for the cute story!
I’m wishing you, Jeanne, a very, Merry Christmas tomorrow! And all the lovely readers on her blog, it has been fun getting to know you and visit each day with! Merry Christmas to ALL of you!
Hi Linda,
Your comments along with Marilyn’s made me feel much better. I went to bed feeling like I had written the wrong post for Christmas Eve but maybe it worked out okay.
I hope you have a wonderful day with your family, Linda, and just relax knowing tour children love you more than any present you could find for them.
Merry Christmas,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, today’s blog is a perfect example of why we all love you so much. You’re a normal human being (super talents aside), living a normal human life. I bet every one of us can relate to the day you described and I’d also bet that most of us count them among our favorites! Merry, merry Christmas to you and your family. God’s richest blessings always, in all you do and continual prayers!

Your blog post shows how much family means to you instead of gifts and that’s what Christmas is all about. I hope you have a stress free, safe and happy Christmas!! 😀
