Yesterday, you saw some of my favorite photos that I’ve taken of my dolls. (If you missed the post, you can see it HERE.) It wasn’t about the dresses so much this time as it was about capturing the fun and pretty moments we shared together. I have many more pictures to share and I hope you’ll enjoy today’s shots!
Yes, I meant for this picture of Josefina to be in here… when I won her on Ebay, the photos were so blurry I wasn’t sure what I was getting when I bid on her. When she arrived and I pulled her out of the box, she was this BEAUTIFUL doll…. with a few flyaway hairs in her face. :o) It was love at first sight with her.
If you want to find out what the picture above is all about, you can read about it in this post… The Dolly Toy Box
That’s Rebecca under all those curlers…
I guess I’ve shared enough of my favorite shots over the last 10 years. I hope you enjoyed them…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
I would love to be amongst the first to purchase a book of your creations IF you ever decide to make one. Your photos/dresses/dolls are a delight to see and a balm for the eyes and pictures of the potential of any girl/doll. Thanks for making the dolls all that they can be in your pretty creations.
Blessings.
HI Becky,
Thank you so much for your encouragement on “maybe” putting together a book. I read your comment first thing this morning when I woke up and was sort of intrigued again… then I went to the living room and the TV was on where my hubby had been watching the news. Kelly Clarkson (the 1st Idol winner) was on channel 6 talking about her new book she’s just written called River Rose, named after her little girl. Kelly was all giddy and excited for the books release and I have to admit, it put butterflies in my stomach… :o)
So thank you for what you said…
Blessings, Jeanne
Enjoying your photos. My favorite is the one outdoors by the tree. With ? not sure who but she has the biggest blue eyes and blond hair and is wearing that bright pinkish dress. Great shot and lighting. I really like outdoor photos because of the backgrounds available and nature at its best.
Speaking of books, Costco has a wonderful new book on American Girls. Shows all of the dolls and accessories, is well laid out and is only $15.00. I think I might pick one up next time we’re there. Your book of outfits would be a great companion. Hint Hint
HI Joy,
That’s Nyssa, by Kaye Wiggs. She is one of only 87 dolls made worldwide and I was fortunate to get mine from Kaye herself. It was a miracle… I like that picture too and I love outdoor pictures as well…it’s just that when I’m ready to shoot the weather isn’t cooperating.
The American Girl book sounds wonderful… I don’t live near a Costco, but if I did, I’m sure I’d be checking it out. Thanks for your “hints” on a book from me… you silly ladies! :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
Is the book Joy mentioned American Girl: Ultimate Visual Guide? It’s $18.77 on Amazon, free shipping if you have Prime, or about $13 new on Amazon Marketplace, plus $4 shipping, though that one will probably be gone in 5 minutes to the one of us who is fastest. So if you don’t live near Costco, no problem, you can have it anyway.
I love that picture of Nyssa in green, and am very fond of Josefina outdoors. Elizabeth’s white dress was one of my all-time favorites, and I love the way you’ve done her hair. Elizabeth in blue with the white collar and a similar hair style is also very lovely. Ten Ping right out of the box is a sweet picture. Who wouldn’t want to make her a new dress immediately? Ellowyn is always lovely, especially as Natasha in her Regency dresses. It’s so nice to have several pictures of Janie, especially in that lovely tulip fabric, and the one with her guitar. Kirsten on a winter night glows in the candlelight.
Consider a book of AG photos with a couple of basic patterns for each era. The bodices would have to be adjusted for early, middle, and recent body sizes. It would be easy enough to figure out which publishers would be most likely to be interested. If that worked, there are other possibilities as well. You do have most of the material ready to go. It wouldn’t be easy, but it wouldn’t be impossible either. And you’d be a published author. That would give you something else to say when people ask what you do.
HI Marilyn,
It’s so nice when everyone points out different things in the pictures. I like to see what everyone’s eye is drawn to. You all have different opinions and it’s fun for me.
I’m going to have to ask Sarah ( my webamster) about the book idea… she’ll know what to do… a published author, huh? That sounds neat to hear…
Thanks for your thoughts, Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
I sound like a broken record but I have to say it again, your sewing and designs and detail are just so beautiful. These outfits pictured are just amazing.
I especially like the “March sisters”. The three American Girls in the Civil War dresses. The Christmas dress with the large lace collar is just beautiful. I love all three though.
Thank you Paula,
I’m so glad you enjoy my pictures and I thank you so much for your very kind words about my sewing…
The pictures of the 3 girls are somewhere on my computer… every once in a while I’ll run across them, but it’s sort of a mystery where they are… they aren’t in My Pictures, or My Documents, but when I run across them I’m always thrilled. I forget each time I see them to move them to someplace I know where I’ll find them. It’s like they are floating somewhere in my computer… :o)
Thanks Paula,
Blessings, Jeanne
These “favorites” are charming, Jeanne. Elizabeth’s elaborate braided up-do is beautiful, and her purple floral gown with bows and lace sleeves is a work of art! I love that you included some fun pictures, too, like “The Dolly Toybox” and “Rebecca in Curlers.” With a tilt of the head, a gleam in the eye, or a natural pose, I think you have captured a very life-like quality in your doll portraits. It is obvious you have a special bond with your dolls, and the love and care you put into what you do is evident, but I wonder if you really know what you do for all your readers? The inspiration, encouragement, and joy you share through your work and your life is really a ministry, and a book of your dolly creations could touch so many more. It would be an incredible effort, for sure, but also quite fulfilling, I think, and I hope you will give it serious consideration. I, too, would be among the first to buy a copy. Bless you and your work, Jeanne. You touch my heart and bring a smile to my face every time I read your blog!
Thank you Anne,
I enjoy looking at my pictures as much as you all do, I think. For me, they all invoke a memory and it’s easy to remember what I was thinking when I made each outfit. I had something in mind and tried to bring it to life.
I have a friend who made those books through Shutterfly and I’ll have to talk to her about the process…
Thank you for all your very sweet compliments and thoughts…
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne
What a neat idea … A picture book of all your creations. Each chapter could feature outfits from the different dolls you’ve clothed throughout the years. I think it would come together pretty quickly because all the photos have been taken already. Maybe throw in a few sewing hints and funny stories. I would buy it.
So I was looking through the photos and wondered which dolls you currently own and which ones you have stopped sewing for. My favorite is the bjd wearing the black hat, I think she is a Kaye Wiggs but I’m not very familiar with them to know which doll she is. Since I joined the party here I have not seen her so I’m guessing you don’t have her anymore. Well I hope you have an awesome Tuesday!
HI Ingrid,
I should do a post on the dolls I have now and the ones I’ve let go. I DO have Nyssa, the doll in the black hat. She is by Kaye Wiggs and has interchangeable eyes and wigs. You can appear to have 20 different dolls with all the eye and wig changes. It’s a lot of fun to see the different looks from one doll.
I keep her in a box, as she’s resin and sometimes the light makes the dolls turn slightly yellowish, so I seem to forget about her…although I shouldn’t. She was my most expensive doll I ever bought. There are only 87 Nyssa’s worldwide.
Thanks Ingrid,
Blessings, Jeanne
Who is the fifth doll up from the bottom, the one in the green dress with the lace bodice and dark red hair? Is she the same doll as two and three up from the bottom? The dresses are lovely with all of the wonderful details of a Jeanne Marie creation.
I’m glad you are getting lots of support for publishing a book. When I first suggested it a while ago, I had no idea you had sewn quite so many beautiful creations and of such variety. Anne is certainly right about the inspiration and encouragement you offer us on a daily basis. Thanks again and again. I’ll be on my way to Costco to buy the book of American Girl pictures. There goes my discipline about staying away from the book aisle at Costco.
HI Susette,
That is my “Wigged Out, Too!” Ellowyne by Robert Tonner. I have 3 Ellowyne dolls and she is the most sought after of the 3, so I tend to use her the most. I have a brown eyed one that I have never used… silly me… she’s on the chopping block but she doesn’t know it.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Susette… I’m glad you liked the pictures I showed you…
I might check my Sam’s in a few towns over and see if the AG book happens to be there. It would be fun to sit down and look at. We both might end up with it… :o)
Blessings, Jeanne
I’m late to the party again, but today is so nice, that I decided to wash windows! Fall is in the air for sure!
Oh Jeanne, I absolutely love your Josefina, and that outfit you made for her. I bought my Josefina used also, and she turned out to be one of the most well made and beautiful dolls I have. She is an older one, and has a partial part in the center in front. The newer ones don’t have that.
And that picture of Elizabeth in white, so pretty, with her lace and pearls and gorgeous hairstyle! And who is that with the bench, kittens and pumpkins, playing the guitar? The minute I saw it I thought it looked like your Rebecca! The next two pictures of the Little Darlings are just so sweet—and that last one of Ten Ping! I wonder what is going through her mind as you snapped that one!
Yes, Jeanne, you need to make a book! I mentioned it some time ago and still think it is a good idea—a GREAT idea!. I do have that AG book several ladies mentioned above, but I got mine at Sam’s, where we are members. You have to belong to Costo, and Sam’s too, for that matter, to get in there. We have both nearby, but were already members at Sam’s, and when they built Costco, we looked at that, and kept with Sam’s, since they are pretty much the same. Also, did you hear in PT that Kohl’s is now carrying a few AG dolls and clothes? They have the current doll of the year, Lea, and most of her things, plus the Wellie Wishers.
HI Linda,
I’m assuming you mean Josefina in the green and black with the black hat? I always loved that picture of her in that one.
The little red head with the guitar is my Janie, (Little Darling) with long red braids this time.
Ten Ping was just so happy to be out of those hot, tight clothes she was shipped in….she didn’t mind a bit sitting practically naked on my hand. :o)
We have a Sam’s nearby so I’ll be checking it out and ALSO Kohl’s… I was just there with Deb when she was here, but didn’t venture back in the kids section… I will NOW… in fact, I can’t wait to go… thanks for telling us that…
Blessings, Jeanne
I love the picture with the three AG’s in the “Little Women” style dresses. Those three dresses are all so pretty. Of course, Ellowynne looks beautiful in every picture. I think all the Tonner dolls are some of the prettiest ones made, and Ellowynne is no exception.
I forgot to say that I would be happy to have a book of all your creations!
Thank you Carolyn,
I liked those 3 dresses on my AG dolls very much too. Back when I used to do a few special orders I made those 3 dressess for the same lady…
I love the Tonner dolls too and sometimes I find myself typing in “Ellowyne Tonner” on Ebay just to look at all the pretty dolls. Guess I miss my Barbie days!
Thanks for your thoughts Carolyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
