It’s Yard Sale time again…

I’m sorry, but this post will be short. I’ve been working for days and today seems like it’s been going on for 45 hours. I’ve already logged in 12,000+ steps on my fitbit tracker! When Rebecca helped me clean out my sewing room and the rest of my house, back in June, we set aside some stuff for our own yard sale…whenever that might happen. Well, we’ve had something going on for about the last 6 weeks and we finally decided on tomorrow… Not too good of a day for a yard sale… it’s been pouring off and on all day today and tomorrow it’s an 80% chance of rain. That’s why we are having it at my mom’s house and using her garage…smart thinking, huh?

My house is a disaster again because we’ve carried all the stuff down from the upstairs and finally are getting it OUT of my house! IT’S A GOOD THING! Here are a few pictures just to show you I’ve been busy making signs, listing the sale on Craigslist, pricing things, and lots more. My poor hubby is fending for himself tonight… maybe I’ll be rich enough to treat him to dinner tomorrow night… :o)

Well, I better go. I’m going to spend the night at my mom’s so I’ll be ready to hit it Saturday morning.

I read everyone’s comments as I inhaled a few almonds… thanks so much everyone! I can’t wait to see your Yu Ping either, Joy!

See you Monday morning,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Oh, my. I’ve been picturing you peacefully sewing while you’ve been working on several things at once. Sometimes it seems like it would be easier to throw things away, but I think sharing is much better. The house is going to be like your sewing studio — much better. It’s going to feel almost new. When I get a project done, the house feels lighter, like it could float.

I wonder if other people will do like I was, looking through the fabric to see if there’s anything I need. I do like that dark green with the beige flowers. And there’s some red and gold that might suit Ten Ping, but I’ll bet the pattern is too large for her. If you had Ivy, it might work.

I’m sure if I stacked some of the books I’m taking to the second hand store and took a picture, people would second guess me too. Instead I’ll take a friend with me to share the credit that the store gives out instead of money. My friend is vacationing here and always needs some vacation reading.

I hope your garage sale goes very well, that it rains only a little, if at all, and that the temperature stays comfortable. You are well-prepared and experienced with sales like this. I want to say, “What could go wrong?” Tempting fate is always stupid. I think I’ll just wish you a pleasant and profitable day.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
Rebecca and I survived the yard sale. I am bushed but $130 richer and Rebecca is $133 richer. It takes a lot of quarter items to make $130! I had plenty to offer everyone!!!
The leftovers went to the Goodwill and I didn’t bat an eye when they saw my trunk. George had taken 2 pick up loads in his truck and I had taken 2 crammed to the top of the seats car loads and all I ended up taking to the Goodwill was a trunk full and a little bit in my back seat! We are all happy around here…a little sleep deprived..but happy!
I think it’d funny that you were scrutinizing my fabrics looking for dolly ptints! 🙂

We got lots of rain through the night but not so much as a sprinkle today. The humidity was unbearable though. My hair was so frizzy it looked like a horse’s tail!
      Thank you Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Hi Becky,
      Yes…rest…sweet rest!!!
Thanks so much…it was a hot sticky humid profitable day!!! 🙂
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. It feels good to get things purged from the house, even though the house usually gets wrecked in the process! I like to declutter once every year. I’d do it more often if I had the time. I hope the yard/garage sale is very successful, and you and George have an evening out to celebrate.

    1. Thank you Carolyn,
We did get a lot of clutter removed from the house and I’m looking forward to getting it back in order!
Thanks so much…I guess dinner will have to wait..my hubby is out mowing the grass before it rains again…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Oh garage sales can be very stressful. Early rising. People knocking on the door at 6:00 AM. People holding up a valuable piece and saying, will you take 25 cents for this? Marilyn and I fighting over the fabric. We have had so many sales over the years.
Definitely need another. And the best part, counting the cash!
    Hope the sale goes well.

    1. Hi Joy…
Oh yes, counting the cash…hoping it was worth all the effort and the lost sleep. I think it was…my house thinks it was!
Sounds like you’ve had a little yard sale “experiences” in the past…:)
      Thanks, Jeanne

  4. You and your ,mom will have a great time…rain or shine!
Hope there are folks who need to get out and do some shopping this weekend!
    Have fun!

    1. Hi Kathie,
Actually my mom didn’t put anything in the yard sale at all. It was just me and Rebecca that had items for sale. We did have a good time though. I spent the night with her and we stayed up late got up early and carried on. Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. I think it is a good time for a garage sale, Jeanne — back-to-school shopping is over, and Christmas shopping hasn’t yet begun in earnest. May you be blessed with good weather, a good crowd, and good profits. Do hope you are able to treat George to that nice dinner afterward followed by some much needed sleep!

    1. Hi Anne,
It’s kind of late for yard sales here in our area, so I think we were the only one in town that had a yard sale. Probably the threat of rainy weather caused a lot of people not to have their yard sales but anyway I think maybe that’s why we got as big a crowd as we did and did as well as we did. The weather turned out to be pretty nice except for the humidity but I can’t complain.
Thanks so much and blessings, Jeanne

  6. What a nice day for a garage sale, Jeanne! The rain is gone, at least here it is, and in it’s place is a delightful, cool, and humidity-free day! Like Marilyn, I tried looking at what you had, but then, I remembered, I have just been cleaning out my extras, and surely don’t need anything more! I just have decided that I only keep what I use, and if I can’t use it, out it goes. I’m not going to hang onto another thing just because I might need it someday. If I don’t have what I need, I just go and get it, but that is a rare thing that I need something now, after all these years!

Hoping for a successful sale, Jeanne!

    1. Hi Linda,
I had to laugh at your first line about it being such a nice day for a yard sale with no humidity and a cool breeze. We didn’t have that. It was very warm, humid, sticky and slightly uncomfortable. But it’s okay. The money made up for my bad hair day and the sleepy eyed look on my face today.
My hubby is usually pretty good about not saying anything when I have stuff sitting around. But when I got home and I was putting things back where they belonged, he did mention to me maybe we can get the house straightened up pretty soon. I guess it was time for that sale.
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings. Jeanne
