Are you kidding me….more Bonnets?

Surely you didn’t think the bonnets I showed you yesterday (HERE) were all the ones I had? I have plenty more and while I’m trying to figure out who’s next, I thought I’d share another days worth of bonnets with you… You don’t have to pick a favorite, but if you have one, I’d love to know which one…Then maybe tomorrow I’ll share which one is MY favorite…

In no particular order…let’s see what I have today…

  1. It was fun yesterday to see that we tended to differ on favorites, which is a good thing, since it means that a lot of us would buy different outfits.
So here I go with today.
#7 — one of my all time favorite caps — Rebecca in red, black, and white
#9 — Janie in blue, because I don’t know if she’s ever looked better — hair, dress, and bonnet all set off her pretty face
#10 — Eden in black — all the fabrics go together perfectly
#12 — Josefina in blue — the other day I asked about a dressy outfit for Josefina, one that Caroline might also wear, and here it is. I was right that Josefina would look lovely in it, and she does. This is a lovely shape for a straw bonnet.
#15 — Cecile in brown — I don’t know that anyone could have worn this better.
#17 — Elizabeth in pink — for the sheer extravagance of this hat
#19 — Isabel in lavender blue — I like the way the hat goes with her hair and face
#23 — Kirsten in red — she looks so good in blue that we forget how beautiful she looks in strong, bright red, and, from yesterday, in greens
#18 — it’s not so much the bonnet in this one, but the photography and the way you’ve caught the depth of Rebecca’s eyes.
So — my votes are in. I’m going to enjoy seeing everyone else’s choices.

    1. Hi Marilyn,
I so enjoyed your picks and WHY you liked them. Your last comment about #18, Rebecca, really caught my attention. I was reading last night about some lighting tips when taking pictures and read about something called Catchlights. It’s that little white spot in the eye that makes your subject look alive. I was pretty intrigued with this and wondered if I had any pictures of it. I was pleased to see it in almost all my shots! Hey…what do you know…this very amateur photographer was doing something right!
      Thanks so much Marilyn,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Oh my goodness, what absolutely gorgeous bonnets you’ve made, Jeanne. They’re all so charming and pretty…so hard to pick a favorite…

I’ll choose two: the third one (reddish with the lace), is that Elizabeth wearing it?

and…the last one: Kirsten in the red one…

But…that’s not counting all that came in nearly first too…just too hard to choose from such pretty, pretty choices.

    Blessings.

    1. Thank you Becky,
Yes, that’s Elizabeth in the red and cream lacy bonnet. As pretty as Elizabeth looks in blue, she looks just as pretty in red yones!
      Thanks so much Becky,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Oh, more bonnets to ogle over.
#4 Unique look on Elizabeth with the lace back
#6- Rebecca looks lovely in that whole dress ensemble- love that plaid,-perfect for Christmas
#7 Rebecca in an iconic Civil War style
#10 that darling gray bonnet on Eden- one of my very favorite dresses you’ve made
#14 that blue Regency on Elizabeth was absolutely gorgeous-. I can’t promise, but I believe that was the one that I first saw on eBay and that’s how I found you on PT and your blog.
#15 Cecile in brown- another example of a muted color being striking.
#17 not so much that I like the pink, but the incredible detail of Elizabeth’s bonnet. I would have loved it in blue.
#18 There’s just something about that purple fabric and bonnet on Rebecca- sweet, innocent little girl look.
#20 the lavender/green on Rebecca- another one I thought was detailed just right
#21 on Kirsten- red, white and blue just make her shine. The bonnet is just precious with the edelweiss flowers on the sides.

#13 Just wanted to comment that I see you apparently had Lanie at one point.

    1. Hi Laura,
It’s fun to see YOUR picks and WHY too…
So it was possibly Elizabeth’s blue Regency that caught your eye, huh? I loved that dress too…
Yes…I did have Lanie for awhile. She modeled a few things for me but I sold her a few years ago. I was more into the historical dolls and thought her bangs were wrong for most things I made…although she looked pretty cute in that lavender dress…bangs and all.
      Thanks Laura,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. All of the hats are beautiful. The pink one Elizabeth has on is stunning. I like the smaller felt ones too. Each bonnet or hat is so unique.
I must say, Cecile is gorgeous in that brown print dress. The dress and bonnet are exquisite. It’s a photo that stopped me in my tracks even though I’ve seen that picture before. The outfit is just beautiful.

    1. Hi Paula,
I really love reading everyone’s comments about the doll dresses and I love that even a brown dress, which might be considered drab or dull, could stop you in your tracks.thank you for your kind compliments on my bonnrts, paula.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Oh no, Jeanne, I just can’t do it! Each bonnet is completely adorable, accents the dress the doll is wearing, and makes her look so perfectly attired! I mean that, and EACH one is perfectly suited to each doll and makes her personality shine through. You have such a unique sense of color, style and sewmanship (is that even a word?)! You know what works and what doesn’t, and you certainly know how to pose the dolls so that everything in the outfit is so perfectly highlighted.

On top of that, you are a wonderful person who cares about everyone you have in your circle of friends and family! Now, Jeanne, reward yourself with something today!

    1. Thank you Linda…
I understand how hard it can be to pick a favorite. I have a hard time too. Thank you for your compliments on my work too. Linda. How very sweet your comments are…you have made my day.
As far as rewarding myself today…I am actually in the waiting room… a suspicios spot was found in George’s bladder a few weeks ago and his dr is doing a biopsy as I am writing this. He was just taken back. So I will be playing nurse today…but my ultimate reward will be a good report!
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Love the great variety of hats and dresses. So fun to view. I especially like #4 on Elizabeth with the back part in lace. Different and refreshing.

    1. Hi Joy,
Thank you for looking over my bonnets and choosing a favorite. I loved that lacy like bonnet on Elizabeth too. It’s up there at the top for me too.
      Thank you Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Very bonny bonnets, that’s what these are Jeanne! I appreciate seeing pictures from your archives, as there are many I haven’t seen before. I am enjoying leisurely perusing the photos, marveling at all the wonderful details of every period ensemble, each one crowned with a lovely millinery confection perfect for the dress. Yesterday I was enchanted by Kirsten’s and Elizabeth’s hats for the face-framing ruffles. Today I am equally charmed by Elizabeth’s pretty pink bonnet with the gathers and soutache trim, but I am absolutely captivated with her sweet and feminine modified Juliet cap with ruffled band and lace veil! So sweet and feminine adorned with the beads and floral clusters, it is a light head covering just right for a young lady like Elizabeth. I LOVE it! Thanks for second showing of bonnets, Jeanne. It is a fine showcase of your talent.

    1. Hi Anne,
I’m glad you enjoy “leisurely” looking at my doll bonnets. That puts a smile on my face.
It’s just as much fun for me to look at all the bonnets again as it is for most of you. I probably look at them more with a critical eye than you do though….just thinking of things I might have done differently.
Thank YOU Anne, for your sweet compliments on them.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  8. Hi Jeanne,
Hope George is doing well after his biopsy; I’ll be praying for a good report!

My favorites today are #4 with the lace back and the last one, the red one on Kirsten. Again, like the one from yesterday (interesting as to how it came to be!), it looks very “Swedish” to me! That’s probably why I like it so much.
