DON’T FORGET…
Trixie’s turquoise dress set ends this evening on Ebay… —>
Here’s the link to Ebay… Trixie Tonner in Turquoise
If you’ve been waiting to see the total reveal of Addy’s new Civil War dress… your wait is over. Today is the day! I worked most of the day finishing up all the little details that take time, and trying to figure out what Addy would be “doing” in her new dress. You can read my story line in the Ebay auction… HERE. (or click on her picture at the right side bar.)
This dress is one of the sweetest dresses I have ever made for Addy. I don’t quite know what it is… but this fabric is just so rich looking in person. I truly do love this one. You might be thinking, “ick… I don’t want a grayish brown dress…” but I think you might be wrong if you saw it in person.
Ready for some pictures?
Here’s what’s underneath…
I always like to include a picture like this because some ladies don’t realize the crinoline is boned and “really” holds the dress out like this…
Here’s a picture of the front of the bodice… and the “brooch.”
How about another picture of the dress in full view…
I made a hair bow like this once before and everyone liked it so much I thought I’d do another one similar to it. I thought about doing a bonnet in the fabric but it just seemed too busy…
…and one more shot of the top half of the dress…
I hope you like it… someone does… I just heard a “cha-ching” on my phone that lets me know when someone bids on my Ebay or Etsy listings…
Thank you Miss ________!
Speaking of Etsy, I am so proud of myself… If you’ll look over on the right side bar… first you’ll see two pictures of my current auctions running on Ebay…Underneath that is something new I just added today. It’s a direct shot to my Etsy shop with 9 little thumbnail pictures of things Rebecca and I have for sale. I always had the little icon for Etsy, but it tended to get lost on the whole website layout.
I’ve been wanting to add an online store, to sell some things like my fabrics and trims I weeded out, but it was going to be anywhere from $19.99 -79.99 a month to operate a store. I’d have to sell a lot of things to make that cost prohibitive. So I asked Sarah at church Sunday, if there was any way I could do it some other way. She said you could add a Mini-Etsy shop widget and have your store show up with tiny pictures at the side of my website. I watched a you tube video, I understood it, and I DID IT! If you click on any of the pictures it will take you to that particular item, and you can easily click on “sellers other items,” but if you click on the “idreamofjeannemarie” link below the pictures, it will take you to my Etsy shop and you can see everything in one glance.
I’m sort of busy this week with yard sale stuff, but my plan is to get some of my fabrics and trims and buttons and lots more things listed. I’ll do it through Etsy now that I’ve got this figured out. It will just be easier because Etsy can add a second item and figure out the postage easily. I’m pretty excited to have figured it out and will get some things listed as soon as I can…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a wonderful looking outfit on Addy, Jeanne. You have done a splendid job on this beautiful outfit.
Take care.
Thank you so much Becky,
I do like this dress very much on Addy! Who would have thought I’d be so gaga over a grayish brown dress… but I am.
Thanks so much for your kind words…
Blessings, Jeanne
Just beautiful, Jeanne. Addy looks lovely in her dress. Love the peach bow. Peach looks so good with the color of the dress. Oh boy. The race is on.
Thank you Paula,
I’m glad you like Addy in this dress, Paula. The peachy colored ribbon picks up the colors of the “non-red” roses in the fabric. It’s a nice complimentary color…and works well, I think.
Yes, the race is on… :o) Oh boy!
Blessings, Jeanne
Addy’s hair is so nicely done. The hair decoration suits her well. Stunning dress portrayed so well in your garden scene.
Finally getting my camera card to read in the computer, but the wildlife one not yet.
Glad you have added your direct Etsy photos. Hopefully, you will have many sales.
Weather looking any better for the sale? Maybe some people have those collapsible sun shades that you can borrow? Or large tents? To keep the rain off everything. Know it is going to be a huge job. Take care of yourself.
Hi Joy,
Thanks for your sweet comments on Addy’s dress. My garden scene was barely that…but I had to work with what I had. I think I might like to get a trellis for a prop. I think it would work well for my girls.
I’ve already seen a difference in the Etsy shop… in terms of views to our shop.. now to get some new things listed in it… I also took the time to get things listed in the right categories… American Girl doll necklaces, ladies earrings and ladies necklaces… Pretty soon I’ll have a section for fabrics… boy, that will be a big one! I can’t wait to get them listed…
My hubby is going to set up a few tents that our church has but mostly things will be out on the big tables… there is a 50% chance of rain on Friday and Saturday, but Thursday there is an 80% chance… eek…that’s when we are setting it all up and covering it. Hopefully it will move on through by the end of the week…
I will take care of myself…
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Addy’s dress looks beautiful! The color looks wonderful on her. It is always funny seeing her showing off the boned crinoline. 🙂
Thank you for showing the info about the Etsy Mini’s. I didn’t even realize that was possible. I just changed my blog to include some of my items. 🙂
HI Christine,
Thanks for you nice comments on Addy’s new dress…
I didn’t know about the Etsy Mini’s either. I was just telling my hubby about it… feeling kind of proud of myself for figuring it out on my own…
I just looked at your Etsy shop…and I really like your colorful banner across the top of your page. I hope you get increased sales on your Etsy shop too… already my stats have improved in just one day!
Thanks Christine,
Blessings, Jeanne
Thank you for the compliments. I am holding off on adding anything to my shop as Canada Post is being iffy on whether to lockout it’s workers or not, or the union to go on strike. I have a few things lined up to add, and I am hoping to start selling. 🙂
It really is amazing that the gray would look so lovely on Addy. This beautiful outfit shows off so many of your talents: Combining fabrics, using them in creative ways for the bow at the neck and for the hair, accessorizing and photography skills. Congrats on another great ensemble.
Thank you Susette,
I DO like making Civil War dresses and Addy loves that I love it TOO!
Thank you very much for your kind compliments on what I do. I love doing it…maybe that helps!
Blessings, Jeanne
What a beautiful “rosy” ensemble, Jeanne! Addy looks as pretty as a picture, and lovelier than all the flowers in Mrs. Gilbert’s garden! Look for a “bidding war” on this one, too. The winner will be very “charmed” indeed. Makes me want to pull my AG dolls out of storage!
Will pray for dry weather for the yard sale this weekend. Know you and your hubby will be busy bees during both the preparation and the event itself, but George needs to take care of his leg, too. Please try to pace yourselves and stay well hydrated in the heat. God bless!
Thank you Anne,
You have your AG dolls in storage… you better get them out! They could big sisters to your little “10ers.”
The weather is looking the worst on Thursday…the day we plan to set everything up… but rain or shine, the sale is going to happen this time… no more waiting… I will appreciate your prayers for the yard sale.
We drank buckets of water last year… I remember that!
Thanks so much Anne,
Blessings, Jeanne
Addy certainly does look charming in her new dress. the whole ensemble looks lovely together and really set Addy off to her best. I bet this one will be a real winner.
I really love those boned crinolines. I saw a video once of how a Civil war lady got dressed from the chemise on out. It is really amazing how many layers there were to the clothing in that and Victorian times. No wonder they needed naps to undress and escape from the heat or faiting couches for when one passed out.
I love Addy’s little watering can, I have a watering can and wooden handled trowel I received years ago that were ornaments. I have since given them to my dolls as they were the perfect size.:-) Where did you find the little picket fence? It’s perfect and I would love one for displays.
I hope that your yard sale goes well. Make sure you find plenty of time in the shade and drink lots of water, lemonade and /or iced tea.
HI Laura,
Thank you for your very kind comments on Addy’s newest dress. I hope this one is a winner… just like I hope they all are.
I’ve seen those videos where the ladies got dressed and I’m not sure I could have made it in those days. I am very hot natured and I’d most likely have passed out every time I went outside.
I think my sister sent that watering can to me a while back… it goes nicely with her grayish colored dress.
The little picket fence came in sections at Hobby Lobby in the wood section. I just taped them together 3 rows high and kind of like the way it looks. The 3 sections could easily be tied together with white thread too… I’ve always just used it one layer high and like it this way. I think I need to find a trellis for my dolls…that would be a fun display piece.
We’re hoping for a good yard sale too. I’ll be in the shade at least in the beginning as I’m taking the money when we first start. I’ll be sure and keep hydrated!
Thanks Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
We’ll see if my post works from my phone….
I can see how you love that fabric…it’s so perfect her .
I’ll check out
The dress is just gorgeous! Of course, I knew it was going to be. You did an excellent job on the whole outfit–the crinoline, hair bow, everything.
