I’m happy to report the little red haired doll listed on Ebay, WAS ADOPTED tonight! Hopefully she’ll be going to a place where she’ll be loved! She sure was a cutie!
If you wanted to see the rest of the pictures of her click the link below…
In other news… I got somewhat caught up on Rebecca’s alterations… poor girl. She’s been waiting on me for months to get a few of her things done…so it was time for me to tackle them. She has a lot of active wear from her work outs, so many of her things were lycra and stretchy knits and all those fun things we don’t really want to sew! :o( She’s quite happy with what I got accomplished…) Now to get the rest of the pile done. She has this habit of buying something on sale, bringing it home, and saying, “I hope you can fix this because I can’t return it….could you just…blah, blah, blah…it?”….which translated means…”Can you do a miracle alteration on this?” Gotta love her!
Okay, now onto Addy… I did make some progress on her dress, but it’s so cute, I just have to tease you a little bit. I want you to see the whole thing all finished instead of it not being hemmed yet, and not having a crinoline under it, and no headpiece yet, and no accessory…so here are just a few pictures to make you want to come back for more…
Thanks for all your “imaginative” stories and thoughts and even recipes regarding the Tea Party in my gazebo. That was so much fun and you all did a wonderful job of playing along with me. If we can’t actually meet, we can at least pretend to!
I thought maybe you’d like to see a few more pictures of the party I had…just for fun!
…and yes, we did have some hats!
Have a wonderful Sunday,
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
If anyone deserves a gazebo, you do. I’m glad you have it.
The humidity is what gives you that green, green lawn. Yesterday it was so hot that the air was very dry — the cause of our mountain fires. I remember living in New Jersey, where the weather is humid and the air is so thick in summer that you want a machete to hack your way through it.
I’m not normally a rick rack fan — I said that before — but I do really like it on Addy’s lovely dress. I’ll bet Addy doesn’t mind waiting a day while you work on Rebecca’s clothes — it gives Addy another day to enjoy her new dress.
I was thinking of cakes — the Lane cake and the Baltimore one — they both have that fluffy white frosting that goes by several different names. Since I wanted Addy to make one to go with her new dress, I looked up egg beaters — remember the rotary ones that we used before hand and stand mixers? Those first appeared in the late 1850’s, so I suppose Addy would have been given one at her wedding shower. She may have to settle for gingerbread. Even baking powder didn’t become general until near the end of the century. Samantha, Rebecca, Kit, and Molly would have been happy to use both of those and would have felt very modern using them, and Molly would probably have been given an electric mixer as a wedding present.
Someday soon we’re going to look just as old fashioned. In the meantime, though, we had a perfectly lovely imaginary tea and tomorrow Addy’s dress may be nearly finished.
Hi Marilyn,
I do like the looks of our gazebo in the backyard. We don’t use it as much as I’d like though…
That garden party wasn’t recently, but a few years ago. We’ve had so much rain and hot weather recently that our grass is a bit on the shaggy side right now.
We’ve got that very high humidity too. It is quite miserable outside for us…
I’ve actually got one of those hand beaters…
Thank you for coming to my Tea party Marilyn!
Blessings, Jeanne
What a fun posting, Jeanne…your yard is gorgeous and the tea party sounds like such a good idea.
Addy’s dress looks luscious…can’t wait to see it all. Your fabric frolics (and I mean that as great fun and lovely to look at) are just wonderful.
Blessings.
Thank you Becky,
We are blessed to have a nice yard. Thank you for your sweet compliments.
I can’t wait to finish Addy’s dress either!
Its always fun for me when I have something new to reveal…
Blessings, Jeanne
All I can say is you lucky dog! That beautiful yard and lovely friends.
Addy is a lucky one too. That rick rack really brings out the roses. Guess you’ll have to pose her in a rose garden.
Going to be a hot one here today.
Hi Joy,
I wish I did have a lovely miniature rose garden for Addy to model her new in! That would be so much fun for pictures.
Thanks Joy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Sweet Jeanne,
Happy Sunday! Your pretend tea sure did sound like so much fun. I would have brought sugared Lavender scones… something yummy that goes very nicely with tea but is not to sweet. Your back yard looks so lush, I’m green with envy! Here the grass is brown and crunches with every step. This is the worst drought we’ve had since 1943. : ( Not good for all our farmers. I love the fabric choice for Addy’s new dress. I think it’s fun to get little peeks at the dress while it’s a work in progress. The big reveal will be that much more fun.
Enjoy your day!
Hi Ingrid,
Ooooooooo…lavender scones? They sound really yummy and I bet they are equally as pretty!
That garden party was a few years ago and with all our recent rain, our yard isn’t quite so beautiful as it was then.
I’m glad you’re liking Addy’s dress so far. Its really pretty in person.
Thanks Ingrid,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh Jeanne, it was so much fun getting to meet the girls at your tea and what lovely conversations we all had. Thank you for hosting such a wonderful afternoon. The hats and jewelry worn by everyone were just divine. Such fun!
Your grounds are just beautiful, lush and green. The rain storms seem to be above us to the north or south below us, so our grass has brown spots even with watering our yard. We need a good rainstorm. The humidity is awful though.
Addy’s dress is really quite beautiful. The touches you’ve added are perfect. Can’t wait to see the finished outfit.
Hi Paula,
It was a lovely yea party, wasn’t it? So glad you could come! 🙂
We’ve had lots of rain but mixed with the heat and humidity, our yard isn’t as pretty as it was when I hosted that tea party!
I’m glad you are liking the looks of Addy’s dress…so far!
Thank you Paula,
Blessings, Jeanne
I’m baaack! I have no idea how you have visitors, sew and do so much and continue to post every single day! So many places to go and things to do here that I didn’t even have time to comment, although I read all of your wonderful and informative posts. One of my son’s, his wife and children, Riya, 7, and Krish, almost 4, were here for two weeks. LEGOLAND, Harry Potter at Universal Studios, Santa Barbara to visit cousins, beaches, Discovery Cube Kids Museum (sounded like Chuckie Cheese on steroids in there with all the children) which has 100 science exhibits and dinosaurs. The weather held in the 75-80 range until the last day: Hurray!
I love your beautiful South 40! Did George build the pergola? I did have time to enjoy the tea party. I’ll bring macaroons next time, but they’ll be from Katella Deli, a wonderful Jewish delicatessen. Yum! I’ll try to make them some time. I sent Riya home with a dozen macaroons as well as Molly because they became such good friends. I have a replacement for me from eBay already on the way. I, too, like her personality. Again, I’m in awe of your posting every day. Thank you!
Hi Susette and welcome back!
It sounds like you had a wonderful visit with lots going on!
No….our gazebo came with the house when we bought it…
I love macaroons and am so glad to have some more cookies to add to our tea party goodies!
How sweet of you to send Molly home with Rita! What a great grandma you are!
Thanks Susette,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a lovely imaginary tea party you hosted, Jeanne! I enjoyed hearing about the food to be shared, and there were so many good conversationalists. It was fun to pretend as we do with our dolls, but perhaps you shouldn’t rule out hosting a real tea party for readers. Your location there in Illinois looks like a slice of heaven! The lovely, lush grounds and many beautiful interest areas throughout your acreage are perfect for entertaining, and if anyone could organize such an event, it would be you, Jeanne! Imagine your readers, arriving just as Marilyn described, with delicious refreshments in one hand and pretty little dolls in the other. Then, finally putting names with faces, feeling like old friends, chatting and laughing, talking about dolls and sewing and crafting and recipes and families and travels and shopping and ……………What a grand time it would be! Something to think about, maybe next summer?
So glad the little red-headed dolly has found a new home and someone to love her, and Addy’s “rosy” dress is looking just lovely with the red trims and perfect cameo. Looking forward to the her fashion debut!
Oh Anne,
Your description of the tea party with all kinds of festivities going on sounds like so much fun! What a dream that would be!
I’m going to remember these last few posts about a tea party for a long time.
I’m looking forward to finishing Addy’s dress soon… thank you for the compliments!
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, Addy’s dress is going to be just lovely, Jeanne! I love the rick rack, the colors, the material, the scarf and cameo, just everything, plus the style it will be made in, Civil War! This is going to be one or your “premier” outfits I think! I can’t wait to see what you will be including with it, pantalettes, slip, hat???
I too, am in awe of you being able to accomplish so many things, and yet keep up with your blog every day and keeping it so interesting! You really must love “talking” with us, as well as your sewing! It is always a joy to see what Jeanne Marie has to say!
Your yard is just beautiful and so well cared for! I guess George is responsible for that! How many acres do you have, or are you in town? I was just mentioning to my hubby that while it has been very hot, we have also had at least one big rain a week, so things are really nice and green. My son, who lives in Denver, says his yard is brown! Can’t get over the green we have!
That little doll looks like something I would have had as a little girl. I’m so happy she has found a home!
Hi Linda,
Well you just about read my mind on what’s left for Addy’s dress set! I hope it’s just how you imagined…when I get it finished.
I DO love talking to everyone on my blog. I am coming up on my 2 year anniversary very soon and can hardly believe I’ve jabbered that many days in a row.
Our yard is green too…but its been so wet George has had a hard time keeping it trimmed…
Ahhhh…the joys of hot wet weather…
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,
I’m a little late commenting. Hubby and I spent the weekend at the beach with three of the grandkids. It was lots of fun, but we are both exhausted. Of course, all the swimming makes everyone hungry, and I feel like I must have made about a hundred sandwiches over a three-day span. Your yard looks so nice and green; it would be nice to have a tea party there!
I can already tell how much I’m going to like Addy’s new dress. The style and the fabric are lovely, and would be great for any of the 1980’s era dolls, but I do have a soft spot for Addy. She looks so good in every thing.
Hi Carolyn,
Okay, with hundreds of sandwiches under your belt, I officially dub you as the “sandwich maker” for our imaginary tea party!
I hope you and your hubby can catch up on some rest!
Thank you for your nice compliments on Addy’s newest dress. I’m liking this one very much too…I LOVE the Civil War dresses so Addy gets to wear my dresses pretty often!
Thanks Carolyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
