My brother and sisters are leaving tomorrow and I’m already sad. It doesn’t matter how much time we spend together, it’s NEVER enough. Thank you for taking time to read and make comments each day even though you knew I was busy with my family. I’ll be back to sewing soon, so Kirsten’s dress will get finished as quickly as I can.
There are a few blogs I try to read on a regular basis and one in particular is my favorite. I sort of stumbled onto her by accident but just love the way she tells a story. KariAnne of Thistlewood Farms is a very gifted writer and she’s probably the only blogger I would read even if she DIDN’T have pictures… but she does, so it’s doubly wonderful!
She did a post a while back but I wanted to share it for Father’s Day. When I read it, it touched my heart and I hope it does yours! You’ll have to click the link to read it. ( I posted a link to this back in April so if you’ve already read it, I’m sorry…I just love this story!)
I didn’t get any responses that any men read my blog, but if they are reading today, Happy Father’s Day!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,
I missed writing about my father yesterday and appreciate you letting us do so. I feel happy talking about my dad. He was such an easy going man, so non- judgmental and a Christian. He too was a Navy man in WWII. ( mom was a Rosie Rivator).
My dad loved it when we kids, our friends and our spouses came often to hang out. He would walk through the house smiling at the various activities going on between all of us and he always said it made him so happy.
He and mom were forever sweethearts and it was common to see them dancing around the house, even doing the jitterbug!
Dad was a wonderful man, husband and dad and we were all bless by that. So
many people loved him.
Hi Paula.
Thanks for sharing about your dad…he sounds like a very wonderful dad Paula! Its nice that you have such sweet memories of him.
Blessings, Jeanne
My parents died five years ago and Mother’s Day was rainy and slippery here, so I wanted to take flowers to my parents’ grave to celebrate both parents. I also take them to my grandparents and to my cousin’s husband’s grave. The man who owns the nearby plant shop gave me a cigar box arrangement — a sort of strong cubical box with a hinged lid, the box filled with rose and blue flowering plants — as a generous thank you for my business. The two planters I put together were mostly yellow, blue, and white and looked sort of alpine, like our mountain flowers. I used the cigar box arrangement for my cousin’s husband, who smoked. I managed to deliver that and my grandparents’ planter, and was trying to hobble to my parents’ grave without my walking stick (because to use it, I’d need a third hand) when a man and his small dog walked up to me and offered to help. Without the planter I could walk fairly well. I was so grateful for the help. It was 96 here today.
I hope that you and your family, and all of your blog friends, had a lovely day with wonderful food and even better company.
All the best to everyone.
Thank you Marilyn,
it was interesting to read your comments about the planter and how you were helped. It was very hot today here to
We ate lunch at Chili’s and then we opted out of dinner and decided to all go to Cool Spoons! We just got back! It was wonderful!
Blessings, Jeanne
What a trooper Marilyn. Heat and all. My husband and I walk the cemetery often as it is nearby. Have flowers out for both sets of my grandparents, my parents, and my mothers sister and brother as well as my uncles wife. And have found graves of lots of unrelated friends. Hope you cool down. You are where? Me, northern CA.
Hi Joy,
Just in case Marilyn doesn’t see this…she lives in Colorado.
What a sweet thing to do with your hubby…visit with past relatives…
Blessings, Jeanne
