Someone in my house has borrowed my glue gun and didn’t return it… that’s a big no no!!! I have no idea where it is or who took it. Everyone is asleep now, but it must be Rebecca, so I’ll have to wait till morning to find out. I needed it to finish Felicity’s hat. That’s all I have left to do before showing the whole set to you. I was planning on making the big reveal, but since her hat isn’t finished, (I know…I’m sad too…) I’ll just have to give you a few snippets of the set and let your imagination fill in the empty spaces. It is a very pretty Colonial dress and turned out to be one of my very favorites. I hope you like it as much as I do…
I’m working at the Food Pantry on Wednesday and hopefully there will be enough time when I get home, to get the hat finished, pictures taken and it listed on Ebay. I’m feeling sorry for those readers of mine who aren’t interested in Felicity, but are just putting up with ALL these posts about her till I get to the next doll. I’ve tried…really, I have, but this one just had lots of time consuming details. I hope it will be worth it in the end.
Okay, let’s see some clues about the dress…
Can you imagine it?
Here is the hat…with the flowers I have picked out. The ribbon is attached with some tacky glue, but I need my hot glue gun to attach the flowers…
This is something I had fun with today… I’m ALWAYS game for an Art project and this pretty much was one! I wanted to make Felicity a tiny jar of Strawberry jam but couldn’t find the right size “mason” jar for her. I bought one jar at Hobby Lobby but when I got it home it was too big. I took it back, and looked for something else. I think I went to e-v-e-r-y section in the store looking for some kind of little glass bottle. What I ended up using was a tiny glass bottle of model paint. I bought red paint and dumped it out except for a little bit, then I rolled it around and around as it dried on the inside of the bottle. I took some red flowers that I have and snipped them up into little pieces and pushed them down in the jar, just to give it some texture on the inside. I painted the lid with some silver nail polish that Rebecca had and then after it was dry, I glued it on the bottle. I decided she’d have a 1st place ribbon (suggested by Joy) and that was fashioned next. It’s just a fun little prop that will go along with my story line… thought of by Laura! Thank you ladies… between the two of you, it will be a fun story to tell…
Well, I’m hoping tomorrow is the last day about Felicity… I bet you are too!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, count me in as one who is NOT tired of reading about Felicity or her dress! It is going to be just beautiful when we get to see the whole thing, and oh my, the lace fichu! I can’t quite figure out how it starts on the outside of her bodice and then somehow goes underneath? Can’t wait to see how that was done! The lace is just gorgeous! Where did you ever find such a piece? And the little mob cap! I just love the whole outfit, and the straw hat will be the icing on the cake!
Hopefully you didn’t accidently throw out your glue gun when you were purging a lot of things!
How clever to make the jar of jam out of a paint jar! I was going to mention earlier that I have Kit’s Canning Set and they have the cutest little mason jars included with that, but they are already filled with fruit. I have never tired to open then, but maybe if you ever see something like that on Ebay, and at a reasonable price, you could get several. Of course you don’t want the whole canning set, but maybe a jar or two for future projects.
Felicity is NOT going to want to take this off—-ever!!
HI Linda,
Thanks to you and everyone else for not being tired of Felicity’s dress pictures. The more I see of this girl in these pictures, the more beautiful she is to me. I’m so glad I made this set for her in the green fabrics. I think this just might be my all time favorite Felicity dress. I think it looks totally Colonial… every part of it. I’m very pleased!
I just made a note to show the fichu in tomorrow’s post… it was a lace applique that I had and never dreamed I’d end up using it for a fichu for Felicity. I have no idea where I got it… it was just in my stash of stuff and has been for years.
The straw hat got finished! I found the glue gun… well, actually my hubby found it on a top shelf in my sewing room. It wasn’t ME who put it there, so it had to be Rebecca. I didn’t ask her… it didn’t matter. … it was found!
Thanks for the compliments on the jam in the jar… It really was fun to stretch my imagination and see what I could come up with. I think it looks pretty good, if I do say so myself.
I’M not going to want to take this off Felicity… she looks so pretty standing in it on my cutting table! :o(
But if the price is right, I just might get over it. :o)
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Who would have guessed that the materials you had would make such convincing jam? Great work.
Like Linda, I’m not at all tired of Felicity and if you wanted to make another Felicity dress next, I wouldn’t mind for a minute. Doesn’t the fichu set off the necklace really nicely? That lace is beautiful. I like the coral bows on the sleeves and the hat decoration looks lovely.
If you get this outfit listed tonight, you’ll probably add a link to your post or send out an announcement to your list. Here’s hoping the Food Pantry won’t be too warm today and you can save some energy for Felicity tonight after a delicious but easy dinner.
HI Marilyn,
I like my little jar of jam too! It was really fun to make it…I spent way too long figuring it out and searching for the jar, but I’m still glad I did it.
I’m glad you like how everything turned out… me too.
I did get the listing finished and it actually goes on Ebay in 2 minutes. I will definitely be sending out an announcement for this one. I’d like to shout it from the mountain tops that it’s FINISHED!
George was at a meeting tonight with food, so I just had frozen lasagna entree… It was good but now I’m wanting some chocolate! :o)
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
This is such a spectacular sneak peek of Felicity’s newest outfit, Jeanne. I too am not tired of seeing her and cannot wait for the total reveal. How beautiful it looks.
I think it’s so very kind of you to take suggestions from your readers and incorporate them into your doll presentation. The strawberry jam jar ideas seem to be a real fun aspect of this ensemble….again, cannot wait until that glue gun is found and Felicity is in the spotlight.
Take care.
HI Becky,
I’m glad you liked the sneak peek pictures of Felicity’s dress set. I tried not to show too much but just enough to make you want to see it tomorrow.
Any time you have a suggestion about something I’m doing or something you’d LIKE to see done, go ahead and let me know… I would love to hear what you think.
The strawberry jam was my whole focus when Laura mentioned it. Then Joy mentioned about getting a ribbon for it and I was “off to the races” with those ideas!
The glue gun was found, so the hat got finished!
Thanks Becky,
Blessings, Jeanne
Good morning Jeanne. I never tire of your posts–Felicity, chickens, the food pantry. It’s always fun to hear what you are up to.
All of the little “bits and pieces” photos of Felicity’s new ensemble are great. That tiny jam jar is super creative. I never would have thought of using a model paint jar.
Hope you can find your glue gun.
HI Cindy and thank you for your kind comments about Felicity and the other things I’ve posted about lately.
Thanks for always being so sweet to comment on my blog when I am so negligent about posting on yours. I’m going to go over to your site as soon as I get these last few comments finished and see your post. I think I read it this morning but I had to hop out of bed quickly to get to the Food Pantry, and I can’t remember what it was on…
I did find that glue gun… actually my hubby did.
Thanks so much Cindy,
Blessings, Jeanne
That tiny jar of jam is perfect!! I think Felicity is going to look wonderful! 🙂
Thank you Christine,
It was really fun to make that Strawberry Jam. I was very pleased at how it turned out! She does look wonderful.. I can attest to that already!
Thanks so much Christine,
Blessings, Jeanne
Love the jam jar oh creative one, and the laces/mop cap etc. How you can find ways to use these lovely pieces are beyond me. Everything always comes together so nicely. This one is a winner in more ways than one.
Hi Joy,
Oh brother… “Oh, Creative One?” That’s too funny. I just read this out loud to Rebecca.
We both laughed!
It’s always fun to have things in your sewing room to use up. Thank you so much for your compliments on this set. I certainly “hope” it’s a winner too!
Blessings, Jeanne
All the sneak peeks are wonderful. I can’t wait to see this outfit. How clever with the jar of jam. It is so neat and looks perfect for whatever story you write.
I love all your daily posts, Jeanne, and find them very interesting ALWAYS. Don’t ever worry about that with any of us. I consider you and your followers all wonderful friends.
HI Paula,
I’m glad you liked my “sneak peeks” and hope it was enough to bring you back for more. I’m glad you feel comfortable with my friends who comment on my posts. I LOVE all my readers too! They are the best!
Blessings, Jeanne
Of course I’m NOT tired of seeing Felicity. Who could be tired of Felicity? * shakes head in wonderment*. Felicity looks beautiful in her dress, love the sleeve bows and I can’t wait to see it with the hat. I would be perfectly happy if you would sew another dress for Felicity next week as well or alternate with Civil War *smiles* The jam jar is perfect and I’m glad that Joy and I could create your storyline together, but I have a feeling Felicity will show off her spunky side when you try to get this off of her!
I agree with Paula, taht I consider you and all others on your blog to be sweet friends.
HI Laura,
I guess I just get a little worried that what I write about or show day after day will get old to some people and they’ll stop coming back. I hope that’s not the case.
Marilyn said she’d be okay with another dress for Felicity too… That’s nice to know.
I had fun with this listing.. from making the dress to listing it on Ebay. Thank you again for the idea for it all!
Blessings, Jeanne
I love the way you pull things together. It’s what makes your ensembles so special, and sharing your process is the best! I would really like to see the fichu laid out flat. I still can’t figure out what the original piece looked like. It’s such a wonderful detail along with the jam jar. Always love your posts. Thanks for always coming through for all of your followers.
HI Susette,
Thank you for your very kind compliments on my dresses and my posts each day. I’m so happy that you enjoy them both!
I made a note to show that lace piece that I used for my fichu in my post tomorrow. It was just something I had in my stash and have had it for years.
Thanks for being such a faithful reader Susette! I love happy subscribers!
Blessings, Jeanne
A little peek here, a little peek there! Bits and pieces of a story line going, too. What a fun and clever way to build the suspense for a surprise ending that is sure to be delightful! Know you are blessing others at the food pantry today Jeanne, so the final reveal can surely wait, but we are all anxiously looking forward to Felicity’s completed ensemble. Hope you find that glue gun!
HI Anne,
I DID find that glue gun… or actually, my hubby did! So Felicity’s hat was able to be completed!
Thank you very much for your sweet comments Anne! I appreciate them very much and I’m so glad you enjoy coming back day after day getting more clues about Felicity’s outfit! It truly was a fun set to put together.
Thank you again for being a part of my little “community!”
Blessings, Jeanne
