Two reasons why I LOVE being a MOM!

I’m going to take a break from my sewing for a few days because Mother’s Day only comes once a year and I wanted to devote a post or two to it… I’ve been blessed to be a mom to two children… a boy first, Kristoffer, who is 28 now, and Rebecca, who is 25. They are both red heads and my mom claims to have blessed them with those genes… and they have been my two little joys to raise…

I got out my pictures tonight and decided to pick out a few of my favorites and share with you. I promise this won’t be like looking at your relatives trip to Hawaii… 523 pictures of every place they went to. I think I only picked out a dozen pictures… They are of the kids when they were smaller… I chose to just use the younger pictures of them this time…

I hope you’ll enjoy these… my pictures aren’t the best… I used my photographs and took pictures of them with my camera.

This was my 3rd day of being a mom in this picture… We went to my mom’s house straight from the hospital and my brother had a little photo session with Kristoffer…

He grew like a weed and I made him a zillion little short and hat sets like he’s wearing here…

CIMG0726

I don’t know who had the brainy idea to get him cowboy boots for his first birthday but it was a riot putting them on him and trying to see him walk. We laughed our heads off.

CIMG0730

This was the day I became a mom for the second time… I was all dressed up and ready to go to the hospital to have a C-section and welcome Rebecca.

CIMG0718

She was a little red headed sweetheart who didn’t talk much till she was almost 3… her brother did all the talking for her…

When Kristoffer was in K-4, he was the only one who knew about the toy sewing machine… he took over and showed them how it worked…

CIMG0723

Growing up, he got those boots mastered…

CIMG0732

… but he could “clean up” real good… and was a ring bearer in a friends wedding…and Rebecca became my little sweetie…

CIMG0748

We were at a family reunion one time and the kids had played hard ALL day long and were as filthy and tired as they’ve ever been. They were so disappointed when it was time for us to go home…

…and one last picture… of them loving on each other… well, Rebecca loving on Kristoffer anyway…

I’m a very blessed mom to my very special kids and thank the Lord every day for them… LOVE YOU BOTH!

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Someone should make dolls that look like that. Did Rebecca get her curls from you? What super pictures. I’m so glad you shared them with us. I hope your Mother’s Day weekend is wonderful, with lots more pictures to share with us.

    1. HI Marilyn,
I do have naturally curly hair so she probably got it from me… although my mom would probably claim that came from her too…
I hope you have a wonderful weekend too, Marilyn!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. What adorable pictures, Jeanne! I think you are like a lot of us, we like to look back at our kids to when they were small. It was so much fun to see them grow up, and exhausting too, and all the funny, touching moments along the way. You have such darling children, love their red hair!

Rebecca looks just like an American Girl doll! Kristoffer had the cutest little turned up nose in that first picture! I bet he gets a kick out of that “boot” picture!

Your children look like they had a wonderful, happy, healthy childhood, and they owe a lot of it to you—-their mother! Have a wonderful day with your children!

    1. Thank you Linda,
There IS something special about looking back at pictures when the kids were little… pretty nostalgic for me….
I’m glad you enjoyed this trip down “my” memory lane…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. That was a nice ‘vacation’ from the stressors of my life! I really enjoyed seeing such happy kids – and parents. Watching our children grow and learn is such an adventure! I hope your Mothers Day is especially blessed this year – everyone! 🙂

    1. HI Mary,
Thanks for the nice “compliments” on my kids… sounds kind of funny…
I will be blessed to share Mother’s Day with both of my kids, my mom and my younger sister surprised us and is driving in to be with us…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. What sweet little ones you had! I’ll say had, because I know how fast the little ones grow up into teenagers! Looks like chickens have been around in your life for quite a while! Love seeing Kristoffer grow into his boots. 🙂 Rebecca is a pretty little girl with her red curls. I have a redhead too, only more auburn, and her hair is still her crowing glory right down to her bottom (at age 38).

Thanks for taking us down memory lane with you and your two pride and joys!

    1. HI Karen,
Yes, my little ones are all grown up now and not so many pictures of the grown up versions… too bad…
      Yes, we’ve had chickens since….forever I guess.
Rebecca’s hair is down her back too…about to the middle of her back and still just as red as when she was little…
      I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. These are beautiful photos of your children, Jeanne. I trust that your Mother’s Day will be filled with a chance for your children to show their mother the fruit of all you’ve sown (sewn!) into them. May you have a lovely day.

    Take care.

    1. HI Becky,
My two kids will be able to share the day with me….and I’m very blessed for that! I still have my mom around so she’ll be a part of my day as well…
I hope your day is wonderful too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. What lovely pictures of two darling little children. And you, Jeanne, you are such a beautiful mom. You have an angelic face. I hope you enjoy your Mother’s Day resting and enjoying your self and the family.
When I see pictures of my children as little ones, I wish so much to just be able to hold them as I did when they were little. My children were such a joy and I must brag, they were pretty well behaved. I loved the smell of their hair next to my face when I held them and I loved their little hands reaching to me. I don’t care how old they are or how old I am, I am still their protector. They are my greatest blessing.
Happy Mother’s Day to all of you!

    1. Thank you Paula,
I enjoyed looking through all my pictures last night and finding just the right ones to make a nice post. There were 2 more I wanted…one of Rebecca holding her chicken and one of her in one of those “colored balls” houses… she was all sweaty but having a blast. I might see if Rebecca has those pics and add them later…
I think your kids are always little in your eyes… mine will forever be to me…
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you Christine,
I have to agree with you on this one!

I appreciate your kind words…even if it was 20 some years ago… :o)
      Blessings to you,

  7. Hi Jeanne,
Happy almost Mothers Day! Love the photos of you and your babies. It’s so much fun looking back and a little sad at the same time. They grow up so quickly don’t they? I’m glad you’ve decided to take a little break. Enjoy your Sunday. And happy mama’s day to all the moms reading this.
    Kind Regards, Ingrid

    1. Hi Ingrid,
