I can hardly believe I got Trixie’s dress set done in 2 days… what? No 5 or 6 posts about it? Nope, it’s already listed on Ebay and you can see it by clicking the picture at the right side bar or by clicking HERE. She looks SO pretty in this royal blue color and she’s settling in quite nicely with the other girls. She and Patsy have been gabbing all day long, talking about everything under the sun.
I made her the cutest slip and she almost didn’t want to put the dress on top of it… but she finally relented.
Her dressy thigh highs were a necessary piece to complete this set. (Sorry about the “no-undies” thing…)
I thought about a hat, but decided on just the headband with a bow…
I let her choose whatever she wanted to go with her dress and she picked a sweet little red bear.
Okay, now onto my Mother’s Day gifts from my kids.
Last year Kristoffer did a watercolor painting for me of a hummingbird.
He decided to do a butterfly for me this year. He said a Pileated woodpecker is next…
I’ll have to start a “Kristoffer Wall…” Right now it’s up on the mantle of the fireplace, next to the hummingbird. Did I tell you I LOVE handmade gifts? Thank you Kristoffer!
Rebecca went through all my pictures and put together the most wonderful photo album for me. She found the album in a sort of kit form at Hobby Lobby, but she added all kinds of stickers and felt pieces and ribbons and appliques and bows and such. Guess where she got most of her “embellishments” from… you guessed it… my sewing room! It was fun to see how she used them. She definitely has the crafty gene that I was blessed with. I just love this album! I didn’t take a picture of every page…but just a few to show you what it was like inside.
She tried to make it chronological…
Yes, that’s a little baby chick on Rebecca’s high chair tray… don’t tell the Health Department…
Remember I said there were a few pictures I was looking for the other night when I did the post on my kids? Well, Rebecca HAD the picture of her and the chicken I was looking for…one of my favorites…
Lots of dresses sewn by me in this album… for Rebecca AND me…
Okay…that’s surely enough pictures to hold you over for today… thanks for letting me share with you…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh my! Isn’t little Trixie the cutest thing!! I love the dress and the hairband with the big bow. Perfect! I see your replaced her broken shoe with some pretty little red ones!
I must say you do have talented children!! I love the hummingbird painting, and the butterfly is just beautiful! I love the way Kristoffer paints! Rebecca’s surprise is just wonderful! What a sweet book of memories she created! My mother made me a memory book of photos when I graduated high school. I would love to get a special scrapbook and transfer the photos because they’re falling off their “stick on” album pages (time loosens the stickiness). I’ve never done scrapbooking, though, so it would be a big project.
You are very lucky to have such a wonderful loving and giving family! Actually, blessed is a better word than lucky! Thanks for sharing!
HI Karen,
Yes, I have a few pairs of shoes left from when I had my Bitty Bethany.. fortunately they had the same size foot!
Rebecca had never done any scrapbooking either, so this was new to her. Her dad asked her how long it took her to make the book and she said, probably about 10 hours! She said she did it at night, before she went to bed… and it was very relaxing…
I’m thrilled with both of my gifts…and yes, I’d say I’m blessed!
Blessings to you,
Jeanne
Your doll’s dress (and her) are just adorable. You have another great creation there, Jeanne.
And how nice to see photos of your children’s gifts to you. Their thoughtfulness in their gifts and the gift of their time in preparing those gifts speaks volumes. It’s obvious that you’ve nurtured them well. Thank you for sharing those things with us.
Take care.
Thanks so much Becky,
I do like this new little Trixie girl… she’s going to fit right in with all my other child dolls!
I appreciate your kind comments about my kids… that means so much!
Blessings, Jeanne
Trixie’s dress is just adorable, Jeanne! The lace on the bodice really dresses it up, and the big bow is just the perfect touch. You sure do know how to make a doll dress——and then some!
Oh my, Kristoffer’s paintings are just wonderful! As a former art teacher, I am wondering why he didn’t go into the art field. At least he is getting some recognition through you showing his drawings and paintings! He is very talented and I love the delicate touch he gives his paintings.
Rebecca’s scrapbook is just a wonderful testament to you for being such a wonderful, caring mother! She did a great job and I know scrapbooking is very tedious—-I have made one for each of my grandchildren, and yes, they are still ongoing! It takes DAYS sometimes to get just one page right!
Both of your children know the way to their mother’s heart, HOMEMADE, and when it is adult children, that makes it very special! You have taught them well and now you are reaping the benefits!
Thank you Linda,
It was having a new girl in the house to sew for… although my other girls were just a little bit jealous!
I think Kristoffer loves to the paintings… Rebecca asked him if he could do a portrait of a friend of hers who is getting married. She wants to give the picture of them as a wedding present. I can’t wait to see how Kristoffer does it.
I think Rebecca was quite proud of herself for making this. She did put a lot of thought into it and I scrutinized over every page looking at every single detail and embellishment with her beside me. I think she was very pleased… as was I!
Yes, homemade is a common thing in our house and I LOVE it when that happens. These are 2 gifts to be treasured, for sure!
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Everything about Trixie’s outfit is perfect and so adorable. I love the picture of her standing in front of the shelves choosing a stuffed animal. Jeanne, that is so cute and so clever!!
I absolutely love Kristoffer’s paintings. The hummingbird and butterfly are just beautiful. What talent. And Rebecca’s wonderful photo book is fabulous. Both Kristoffer and Rebecca were about as cute as can be in their childhood pictures. Rebecca’s hair when she was little, reminds me of my Adrian when he was little. His hair was beyond baby soft and
stood out in curls. Anyway, you all make a very handsome family. Thank you for sharing.
For me, beyond some lovely personal gifts, my family took me out for dinner to The Cheesecake Factory! ( We only had to wait 2 hours- so we shopped around in the mall!!!)
HI Paula,
It really is fun to have a doll that you can pose. They almost become lifelike!
It’s funny you mention The Cheesecake Factory… Kristoffer was just telling us about the taco’s he had there. He said they were the best he’d ever had!
Oh, shopping for 2 hours sounds fun… maybe not for your hubby but for you… fantastic!
I’m glad you had a good time.
blessings, Jeanne
Love Trixie’s outfit and her special slip. So cute. Rebecca’s photo album is a work of art as is the lovely painting by Kristo. I don’t know how you managed to look so slim in those flowered dresses. I remember loving the flowers too, but I never managed to look as wonderful as you.
Thank you Joy,
I like Trixie’s slip too! It was fun to make.
Both of my kids gifts are real treasures this year. I was very blessed from my kids.
As far as the flowered dresses go, my hubby always loved the floral fabrics and called my style “country romantic.” I do love pretty floral print fabrics… you don’t see women wearing them much now, but I still love them. Gunne Sax was my favorite brand. In fact I used a Gunne Sax pattern for my wedding dress… You are WAY too kind on your compliments about me being slim…
Blessings, Jeanne
I always look for Gunne Sax at my favorite thrift store. They are quite pricey on the E place. I have a couple of blouses. Waiting for the style to come back 🙂
Rebecca has made you a wonderful scrapbook. I hope she’ll do another for Father’s Day. You are a really splendidly photogenic family and it’s so much fun to watch what you can do — you all are as talented as you are good-looking.
The new dress is a winner. I hadn’t guessed that you’d use red with the blue, but it really works. I agree with Paula that Trixie is especially cute standing in front of the shelves of toys — I love the red buttons on the back of the dress. Your newest acquisition seems to be inspiring.
HI Marilyn,
Rebecca has already been thinking of what to do for Father’s Day. I don’t think she wants to make her dad a photo album, but she’s considering a collage/poster kind of a thing. He wouldn’t sit down and look through an album, but he would look at a poster…
The red surprised me too, but then when I decided to make her a “patriotic” slip, I HAD to use the red. There will be others to make for her and I’m already thinking of what will be next. I really do like her bendable arms!
Thanks so much Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,
I love Trixie, and her new dress. I agree, it’s a very good color on her. I also wanted a Trixie doll with her little afro. I waited and waited and waited some more. I never once saw one come up for sale on eBay in the two months I was looking. Finally I resided to the fact that if I wanted Trixie I would have to settle for one without her little fro. I bought her a while ago, she wears longer hair with curls and has on a lime green ballet style dress. She is sooo sweet, I love the bendy arms and wrists too. I keep telling myself I need to get busy sewing. My “girls” are in need of a change of clothes for the spring/summer season. Maybe today will be the day! lol maybe (Ingrid giggles as she dusts off her chair with her fanny again)
What talented children you have Jeanne! I second Marilyns comment, you are very much the photogenic family. And yes Jeanne you are blessed.
Have a great day/afternoon. Ingrid
Thank you Ingrid,
I’m thinking the blue is just about the prettiest color Trixie could have picked as her new debut dress!
Oh, you got the lovely Pistachio Trixie and she is a little cutie too. I almost got her… They really sweet little dolls aren’t they? I think we’re going to have lots of fun with her!
Thanks for your sweet words about my kids and my family. Yes, I truly am blessed!
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,
I’ve been out and busy all day and now it’s time to start dinner. I just wanted to say Trixie’s dress is so cute and I love her little slip. Kristoffer’s hummingbird is fantastic. I love hummingbirds along with basically every other animal. Rebecca’s scrapbook is a real treasure. my daughter and I made one embellished like that for all her violin recitals over the years. It’s fun to see the pictures as the violin size increased and to recall the piece she played each year from 4 1/2 to 16. Now playing is just for
enjoyment. Love the picture with Rebecca and the little chick on her high chair. That would have been a delight to my daughter as well. She couldn’t ever get enough of the baby animals at the fair each year.
HI Laura,
Thanks so much for taking time to let me know your thoughts about Trixie’s new dress and about what my kids got me for Mother’s day. I was surprised by what they each did…
After Rebecca and I talked about all the pictures I had, we decided we are going to make it a project soon to get the pictures all in order and toss out all the ones that are meaningless…
That’ll be fun to do together…
Blessings, Jeanne
When I comment late in the day, I just have to second everyone else’s comments. Love the dress, the dazzling slip, the photo album and Kristoffer’s paintings. I hope he is able to pursue a career in the art work somehow. You certainly have a most talented and loving family. Looks like you are on a roll with the dolls now.
HI Susette,
Thank you so much for your sweet compliments about my family and the sewing I’ve been doing. It does seem like I’m on a roll right now with dresses being made pretty frequently. I hope I can keep it up…
Thanks so much Susette,
Blessings, Jeanne
