It’s been a few years since I’ve done a pair of sister dresses and Eden and Lily talked me into it when I brought this red and white and blue fabric home from Joann’s about a month ago. (This was clearly before I began the purging process…) :o)
The fabric is absolutely wonderful to touch… seriously, I’m not a big pusher of fabrics for the most part, but this one is very lightweight, the coolest to the touch, softest, smoothest feeling fabric I’ve felt in a really long time… AND it’s 54″ wide so you get that nice wide width, allowing you to make more dresses for your money!! Really, it’s a nice fabric and I’m looking forward to sewing with it….
so are Eden and Lily… in fact, they’ve hopped down from the dolly shelf and are just waiting for me to get started on their dresses!
Eden picked the red and Lily picked the blue… good choices girls! If you’re looking for a pair of Fourth of July dresses for your girls, start saving your pennies now… I’ll get them listed as soon as I can.
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
I’m used to Eden and have enjoyed seeing her model. Tell us more about Lily, when you got her and why she had a special appeal for you. This fabric does look like fun and I’m going to enjoy seeing what you do with it. The fabric looks pretty modern — not your usual choice — which makes guessing what will happen as you create these outfits challenging. I hope you have lots of sewing time tomorrow.
Hi Marilyn,
Sorry I’m late… I got obsessed over Lily, a #27 doll a few years ago. I loved her layered blonde hair and her big blue eyes. I found Lily on eBay with a rats nest for her hair but took a chance on her. I washed and conditioned her hair and it turned out very pretty.
No sewing time today but I think I have a pretty good idea what I plan to do with their dresses…
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
How funny. I picked up some of the blue the other day. I don’t remember seeing it in red. I just had to go and measure because I had no idea it was 54″. I don’t believe that it was any more expensive than the other 4th sale fabric they had. Can’t wait to see the sister dresses.
Hi Joy,
Don’t you think this fabric feels wonderful to the touch? You’ll have to show me what you do with yours!
Blessings, Jeanne
These girls are going to be very cheery indeed…can’t wait to see your creations, Jeanne.
Take care.
Hi Becky,
Yes this fabric is most definitely cherry! I can’t wait to see the girls together either…
Thanks so much.
Blessings, Jeanne
What interesting and fun material. I can’t wait to see what you do with it. My goodness Jeanne but you truly are talented considering the amount of things you’ve done and are still doing.
In fact, many of your readers are talented as well. They are a great group of women! * Charlotte – what a wonderful and touching thing your guild does- the beareavent gowns.
*Happy Birthday to Laura!
Hi Paula,
Thank you so much Paula, for your kind comments…and yes, I’m sure I have the greatest ladies who read my blog!!!
Blessings,
Jeanne
Thank you, Paula for the birthday wishes!!
Yeah, an AG set to enjoy looking at the construction of. Oh, what a cute idea to have a sister set. I think I have only seen you use Lily as a model once or twice. Can’t wait to see what you come up with. for their patriotic outfits so they are all ready to attend the 4th of July parade.
I think red, white and blue outfits are so sweet on little girls and dolls all through the summer months.
Sorry Laura, my hubby is making me turn out the lights….I’ll explain later…
Blessings, Jeanne
I don’t think I’ve seen Lily before. A pair of sister outfits will be really cute.
Jeanne, we are in Branson, just decided to go at the last minute, since my foot is doing so much better. This will be short, I’m tired from walking!
Love the idea of sister dresses too! But where did Lily come from?? I don’t believe I have seen her before.
And a belated Happy Birthday to Laura!
Hi Jeanne,
I so enjoyed reading your post on how you get to the end price on you lovely creations. Reading your post on all your talents was fun. I knew you were a talented lady but I had no idea you were so versed. You are a regular “Renaissance woman” !
When my children were very young I loved wreath making, sewing, wood working, painting … I just loved making “stuff” it was fun and cathartic! With some encouragement from friends and family I started a home based business and ended up doing some very nice juried craft shows. I sold my ooak things for many years. Like you I also had my things in a few shops. Word of mouth was my friend. I also had similar experiences getting my money from two of those shops. I removed all my things from said shops for that very reason. Many years had passed, my kids were older so it was around that time I decided to punch a time clock instead, there is much to be said for a guaranteed weekly pay check! LOL Reading your blog takes me back to those years when I enjoyed creating thank you for the walk down memory lane … you made me smile and I do believe my creative juices are “a stirrin” !
Thanks again for all your awesome blogs, everything you share is such fun to read PS I love the sister dress idea and the fabric is so cute!
