I know Easter was yesterday and now it’s time to move onto the next holiday, but before you take your dolls out of their “Easter Finery” I thought maybe you’d like to send me some pictures of your girls all dressed up. If you put them together in little vignettes, we’d all love to see them. Linda sent me a few pictures and that gave me the idea to showcase some others. How about I leave it open till maybe Thursday and then Friday’s post I’ll try to get them all featured. I’ll go ahead and whet your appetite for some cuteness by showing you the ones Linda sent me, but I’ll probably include hers again when I do the actual post on “Other Dolly Easter Dresses!”
Im really hoping my pictures are showing the right way. I had a dickens of a time with Ivy and Cecile’s pictures.. they were showing up sideways when I was trying to get this post ready. I’m not exactly sure what causes it, and I fix them so they are right side up and then when they are published, they go wonky on me again. I guess if they show up sideways on your screen, turn your head sideways! :o)
I had to stop and take a look at Cecile’s Coat…it’s very sweet, isn’t it?
Ivy is certainly ready for Easter!
And dear sweet Felicity… I spy a “Rebecca necklace” on her, don’t you?
You may remember I mentioned a 1950’s dress was coming up next. For those of you with new Maryellen dolls, you’ll be thrilled! I searched and searched for something different and not seen everywhere and came up with this pattern. I’m going to try and copy it…only I think I’ll make it a bit fuller in the skirt… why have skimpy when you can have full!
(This pattern is for sale on Ebay by seller, vintage4me2)
I haven’t had a chance to look at what fabric I might use for it, but I will get in there tomorrow and find something…
I’m heading to bed…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a surprise to see my dolls in your blog today, Jeanne! The pictures were fine, everything turned right side up too! By the way, Cecile’s new coat is actually Samantha’s Beforever Travel Coat, that I just bought for her from AG. She is also wearing a pair of your fingerless gloves! Also, I have used one of your crinolines underneath Ruthie’s green dress. I can’t wait to see other people’s pictures! Thank you for showcasing mine, although you really didn’t have to do that!
Looks like there will be a cute, new dress coming soon!
HI Linda,
I hope you don’t mind me showing your dolls without asking you… I wanted to surprise you!
I’m glad your pictures were okay.. on my desktop computer Cecile is right side up by Ivy is still sideways. On my ipad they are all the right way… *sigh*
I did see her gloves but didn’t want to “gloat” too much!
I hope I can get started on the 50’s dress today.
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Lovely photos…can’t wait to see how your next outfit comes out. Your blog is such fun to read….and others contributions just add the cherry to the chocolate sundae!
Take care.
HI Becky,
Thanks for the comments… I have to find just the right fabric for this to be a knock out dress! I hope you’ll add something from your Easter collection Becky.
Blessings, Jeanne
Linda’s photos are so sweet!
Love the 50’s pattern. So many ways it can be done. Wouldn’t it be cute to do two dresses. One for the older dolly and one for Patsy size?
Thank you Joy,
I know… aren’t Linda’s pictures just the sweetest? I’m sure that took a long time to get them all ready and set up. It’s like dressing 6 toddlers I bet.
It would be cute to do a big and little dress that matched…
Thanks again,
Blessings, Jeanne
Linda’s pictures are too sweet. I love all the dolls dressed up in their Easter church dress with hats and gloves… my style exactly. I see everyone received plenty of treats and new fuzzy friends. I hope Argos and Coconut got a special doggie treat as well since no chocolate for dogs.. 🙂 Felicity’s display is beautiful and Posie is perfect for it.
The new fifties dress will be fun to see. I’m always especially happy to see dresses for the PC/AG girls, and yes, full skirts are always better!!
HI Laura,
I think Linda thought of everything for her girls in her pictures…all the way down to the pets seen with her dolls.
I think Felicity looks especially pretty in that pale blue dress she’s wearing…*sigh*
(too many dolls and too little time time sew for all of them)
Now to find the right fabric to make it look like it came straight from the 50’s!
Thanks so much Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
I really enjoyed seeing Linda’s pictures of her girls. Such pretty Easter dresses and Easter baskets. Reminds me of the “old days”. Memories……
Where can I find hats like the ones these girls are wearing? I’ve looked and can’t seem to locate a good source. And I am still looking for a source for nice lace. Help, anyone!!
HI Jeannie,
I thought Linda’s pictures were too cute not to show everyone…I’m glad you liked them too.
It reminds me of the days when we spent all Easter eve working on dresses, sometimes staying up half the night getting them finished. It was almost like some ritual we had.. we must have been crazy to do it year after year after year!
I get lace from Hobby Lobby and Joann’s and then of course at thrift shops when I find it and antique shops too… sometimes I type in lace lot on Ebay and find assortments of lace.
Once I bid on a lot of lace that was from a store going out of business. I wanted it all so badly and had actually bid up to $400. It was all french cotton laces and was well worth it, but it went for around $800 so needless to say, I didn’t get it. It was a once in a lifetime lot.
Thanks Jeannie,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeannie B.,
Those Easter hats are from various places. Susan’s hat (the doll in the pink dress) came from an online place called Doll Closet, which has since closed. Molly’s hat came from a supplier on Ebay, I think it is Doll Clothes So Beautiful, and Ruthie’s straw hat came from Hobby Lobby! Of course Felicity’s hat is her own from her Summer Outfit, and Cecile’s hat came with the coat from AG. Ivy’s hat came with the dress, also from AG, but now retired. (Periwinkle Dress)
Jeanne, that pale, blue dress that Felicity is wearing, is actually Elizabeth’s Tea Dress, minus the fichu, so I could highlight the necklace.
Hi Linda,
I thought that was Elizabeth’s dress, but wasn’t sure. Felicity looks beautiful in it.
Thanks for the mention of the hat seller… Doll Clothes Sew Beautiful…
Blessings, Jeanne
Made a mistake in the spelling, it is Doll Clothes Sew Beautiful. Once you get the store, type in “straw hats” and you will see a variety of colors and styles.
Gotcha…
It is so neat to get to see Linda’s dolls. And Linda, you have dressed all the girls in such Easterly fashion. They all have wonderful Easter items too. What fun, even though time consuming, to dress all the girls.
Thank you Jeanne, for sharing Linda’s pictures. I like seeing what other women do with their dolls, or how they display them.
What a cute pattern for Mary Ellen. Can’t wait to see what material you’ll pick out.
HI Paula,
I thought everyone would enjoy seeing Linda’s dolls…I sure enjoyed looking them over to see all her little details…
I was going to show everyone a few pieces of what fabric I might pick for the dress, but just decided on my own… I hope it works for everyone…
I’m working on it tonight…
Thanks Paula,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a great display Linda made with her dolls. Beautiful! I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s pictures. The dress pattern is no longer available, but I’ve used Simplicity 1244 which might be a good start. Getting the scallops right was a challenge but a straight panel should be easier. What a great idea to have another show and tell.
HI Susette,
I like seeing what everyone has been up to too!
That’s one pattern I don’t have. I’ve tried to ease up on my pattern buying and draft things more myself…but that pattern would have worked pretty well…
I got some pictures from you Susette, but haven’t had a chance to open them up yet…
Thanks, Jeanne
I too loved Linda’s pictures, as well as Jeanne’s from yesterday. What a lot of pretty Easter clothes there are, and the new dress pattern looks completely charming. Like Jeannie B was saying, “It reminds me of the old days,” when we bought Easter hats nearly every year and new white gloves were a requirement. My mom had to get five children ready for church in freshly ironed clothes and then get ready herself before we could wrinkle them. I sometimes wonder how she lived through holidays and first days at school.
HI Marilyn,
Getting just the right dress, or better yet, MAKING the right dress for Easter was a big thing in our house… and like I told Jeannie B, we spent many an Easter Eve making our dresses well into the evening. I might have to get some of those old pictures from my moms and show you some of my Easter dresses.
Wow… 5 kids and herself to dress on Easter morning… what a job! We always had white gloves too… boy, have times changed…
Blessings, Jeanne
Loved seeing Linda’s dolls decked out in their Easter dresses and bonnets. All the pretty pastels are so welcomed after winter’s drab. Cecile’s photo did show up sideways on my laptop. It may have to do with the orientation of the camera.
You found a very cute vintage pattern for Maryellen. And I agree – she needs a really full skirt! Can’t wait to see your inspiration come to life!
HI Karen,
It was truly nice to see such pretty colored dresses, wasn’t it? I really enjoyed looking at them.
I can’t wait to get far enough along on this pattern to show you all… I think it will be pretty…
Thanks so much for your encouraging words, Karen.
Blessings, Jeanne
The Dress Pattern is such a good one!…Mary Ellen will look perfect in it.
Linda’s pictures are a hoot…Those AG Dolls look ready to walk in the Easter parade….every one of them!
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!
HI Kathie,
Linda’s dolls do look like they are ready to be in or walk down the street in an Easter parade. I can’t imagine how much work that was to dress them all… but I bet a lot!
I had a great Easter and hope everyone else did too!
Thank you Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
The construction in the dress pattern reminds me of a Rosenary Ioneker dress construction where the side panels in the bodice continue to make the under neath part of the sleeve. I think Affordabel designs has a pattern with this construction. Helps with controlling bulk under the arm. Hope to have an Easter dress photo. In Los Angeles, a chain photo studio ususally had a special offer for .Easter and the girls photos ususally were taken on .Easter. Our memories help to make hollidays sweeter.
HI Jan,
I know which pattern of Rosemary’s you are referring to and this one will be slightly different. I think I can make it pretty much like is shown in the pattern, with a fuller skirt.
I need to get working on it at a faster pace than what I am…
I don’t think we got any Easter pictures of us… oops… maybe someone got us…
Thank you Jan,
Blessings, Jeanne
What cute Easter scenes! Especially the one where all the girls are wearing their white gloves and holding their baskets–very sweet. I think you picked a good pattern for a fifties dress. I can’t wait to see what you do with it.
HI Carolyn,
Don’t white gloves just scream Easter? I used to love wearing those white gloves… I felt so grown up and special… I’m sure that’s how Linda’s dolls feel…
Okay… now back to my 50’s dress…
Blessings, Jeanne
