I’m sure everyone got up extra early this morning to see if they happened to be the winner of the doll gloves…right? Well, maybe not… now if I had a car to give away, that would mean getting up early, but gloves…not so much! Anyway, we had a lot of people enter the drawing… 22 in fact entered from comments and emails. I wrote down everyone’s name, turned the slips over and shuffled them around.
I closed my eyes and picked one slip of paper. The winner is Bonnie Sullivan and she picked the 3 pink heart buttons for her gloves.
Congratulations Bonnie… I will get those out to you right away. The rest I’ll get put in my Etsy shop as soon as I can.
I’ll be working at the Food Pantry today, tomorrow I have a dentist appointment to get my crown finished, Friday I have to take my mom to the doctor, so my sewing and listing will be hit and miss…but hang on…I won’t always be this busy…
I was at an Antique shop yesterday with my hubby and I did happen to find a couple of things… this sweet little tin picture.. I had never seen this one before. I love how she’s washed all her dolly clothes except the one little “nekkid” sweetie who is waiting patiently for her dress to be finished. I’ll find some place in my sewing room to hang it.
You should click on it and see it up close. It’s just the sweetest thing.
The second thing I found was a package of 10″ Wool Felt squares… I can add this to my stash of wool felt and use it for hats and little jackets for the dolls! It’s nice to have an assortment of new colors.
…and I found a pretty red sweater for myself, but we’ll skip that…
Rats…I am out of data again on my Satellite and apparently I’m not able to upload the pictures that I took at the antique store from my phone to my email and then get them on here. I’ve tried and tried and tried. I took the pictures of the dolly tin and the wool felt with my camera when I got home, but for now, at least, I’m not able to get the pictures from today on here. I will get my monthly allowance of data loaded in 6 more days… UGH… How can I stand it that long??? :o( Maybe I can get them to load after that) sorry…
“Someone” has been busy in my house and that someone is Rebecca. She has churned out more necklaces for the American Girl dolls. I haven’t had a moment to list them, but I thought I’d show you what’s coming… soon! She puts little paper tags on them so when I list them I don’t have to ask her how much is this one, or are there any vintage stones on this one, or what color do you call this??? They are all so beautiful and I just couldn’t wait to show you.
If you click on the necklace pictures, you can see them much better.
Well, I’m off to sew some gloves while I wait for the stroke of midnight to catch any late night entries, so I can draw out the winner! I wish everyone could win…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, another contest I lost!! Oh well, somebody is happy and you can’t win every time!
That picture of the little girl washing her doll clothes is just adorable! What struck me is how the blue dress on the little girl looks almost exactly like Samantha’s Skating Dress, which I was able to get off Ebay recently! It is a beautiful, soft blue crepe dress, and I have been searching for it for quite awhile. Most of the time it is way out of my price range, but I was able to get this one for a reasonable price—-finally!
Tell Rebecca her necklaces are beautiful! Wow! I’m trying to get my dolls Easter outfits figured out, and may need to get a necklace or two. I do have several from her and know that she does an excellent job!
HI Linda,
If you hang around long enough and keep entering, one of these days I’m bound to draw out your name! Don’t give up!
I love that little dress too and it really is close to Samantha’s skating dress. I’ve got pictures of little dresses that look like this from the 30’s too. I just couldn’t resist… it was too precious.
I hated to show the necklaces without them being in our Etsy shop, but I wanted to share them anyway.
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Linda,
I’m glad you found Samantha’s skating dress, that one is very pretty. The one dress that eluded me for awhile was Felicity Town Fair with windmill, but I finally found that. My daughter has it, but, of course, it was just another of those outfit that I had to look for because I didn’t start collecting when she did. Well, you and I do find things to collect, just not from AG. I found a pair of metal doll scissors ( For Samantha’s Valentine making, though too late for this year) and a doll sized sandlewood fan that will be coming soon. Felicity will be nice and cool in her summer gown with it.
Glad to have connected with you over on AGPT as well. We older collectors and Felicity lovers have to stick together. 🙂
Thank you Laura, for your kind words! I still don’t have that Town fair dress, but hope to some day. I kind of am looking for Samantha’s Talent Show dress at the moment. It’s not a “must have now”thing, but I do like it and want it some day!
Glad I connected with you on AGPT too! Jeanne has a way of getting people together that think alike!
Thanks for sharing your time with us, sewing or not.
The necklaces are lovely…that little tin picture is dear…and the wool squares-what a great find.
Take care.
Thank you Becky,
It wasn’t a terribly exciting post, except for maybe Bonnie, but it’s all I had to work with… so I’m glad you found it fun enough to at least comment. Thank you so much,
Blessings, Jeanne
The wool felt is aura of lovely colors! Beautiful to see. I picture hats! Wish I had a dolly hat mold. Love the dye advertisement too. There’s your new motto. “A Busy Day in Dollville!”
HI Joy,
If only I could get a little busier in my dolly room…that’d make me happy!
I’m wanting to get a doll hat mold too… one where I can use the braid and go round and round… I’m debating on one… don’t tempt me…
Thanks Joy, Have a wonderful day,
Blessings, Jeanne
That little picture is just too cute My daughter used to love to wash doll clothes and hang them on a clothesline when she was young. Then they had to be pretend ironed and hung up on hangers. Such fun memories.
I need to make it to the antique store, actually even though my home town is smaller, we love antiques and there are three on the main street through town. They always have new thing and sometime there’s something perfect for dolls. My daughter found a wooden bucket for Kirsten like the one that comes with her school bench for $2 and browsing is always fun.
Rebecca’s necklaces are beautiful. She is very talented.
HI Laura,
Wow… 3 antique stores on main street… I’d be there 3 times a week probably! They do have fun things for props.
What nice memories you have of your daughter washing her dolly clothes…It doesn’t get more precious than that!
Thank you for the compliments on Rebecca’s necklaces… yes, she is very talented! I lost one of my favorite earrings yesterday, so I’ll see if she can’t make me something to replace it…
Have a great day,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,
What an adorable picture of the little girl washing her dollies clothes. And extra felt will surely find it’s way onto your sewing table.
Rebecca’s necklaces are beautiful. What awesome beads. I have several favorites. I need to visit your store.
Have a great day. Hope the crown goes well.
HI Paula,
Thanks for your comments. I love that little picture too….it will fit perfectly in my sewing room!
I need to get Rebecca’s necklaces listed in our Etsy shop ASAP!
Have a great day Paula,
Blessings, Jeanne
I love hearing the stories about the doll finds on eBay, Laura and Linda. It’s a new experience for me and a lot of fun. Thanks for letting me know what to look for. I found the complete outfit and needlepoint frame set for Felicity for a very low bid. The picture on tin is a lovely find, Jeanne. I seem to be overwhelmed on the AGPT site with over 1,000 posts. Guess I don’t know how to use it. Rebecca’s necklaces are wonderful.
About making clothes for little children: I remembered looking up permanent press a very long time ago and because the clothes are treated with formaldehyde and baked at 300 degrees after they are totally assembled, there is no way to do it yourself. So it’s a good suggestion to wash them before wearing to get rid of as much of the residual as possible. What mother today is going to take the time to iron clothes? I bought all of my granddaughter’s clothes at T J Maxx and treated it like an Easter egg hunt, looking for the 1 in 100 that was a great brand, Savannah, etc., and just darling. I did make a fancy brocade dress for the piano recital, but it won’t get thrown in the washer. It’s not for lack of wanting to do it, it’s just “progress” that puts us out of business.
HI Susette,
I know AGPT can be overwhleming but it’s just something you have to explore. I’m sure I don’t know a fraction of what to look at. I spend most of my time clicking on “newest threads” and just seeing what everyone is talking about. The other place I go to is Home Ec to see what people are making for their dolls.
I still iron today but not as much as I used to. The fabrics have gotten “friendlier” to us. So many things today are lots easier to take care of. My older sister in PA is an iron-er! She irons her hubby’s pants and shirts and her cotton things all the time, and seems to enjoy it.
Thanks Susette,
Have a nice day, hope it’s warmer than mine… it’s 27 degrees but the wind chill factor makes it feel like it’s 18! BBRRR!
Blessings, Jeanne
I was driving along yesterday and thought the temperature gauge on my car was broken. It was hovering between 94 and 96. Then I heard Orange County, CA, set a record and was the hottest place in the country that day. No, thank you very much!
Trouble commenting today posting so this is my third attempt. The blue dress in the pictureis very similar to a LD Joyce Matthews dressed, Briony. Joyce made several in blue and I have seen photos of one in pink.
Sharon in Spain blogged on a new doll I had never seen or heard of before. A concept similar to AG. The series is called A Girl for All Time. We had many Amazon points to use so husband and I chose The Tudor Girl. I think the company missed in that a Jane Austen period doll would be very nice to have. Picture is a great find for you to have. Inspirational, don’t you think!
HI Jan,
Sorry you had trouble getting your comments made. I know exactly which dress and doll you mean by Joyce. Briony was an adorable doll and dress set. I loved her blonde wig…which is no longer available… :o(
I have seen the Girl for All Times and congratulations on getting one. I went and looked a the Tudor Girl that you purchased. What a great price!!! $70 off! Yes a Jane Austen Era doll would have been a wonderful addition to their line. I hope you get her soon and enjoy her very much!
Blessings, Jeanne
Thanks, Jeanne. There are so many dolls I would know nothing about if it weren’t for bloggers. Enablers for sure! I have often wondered how doll sewers know which doll to start sewing for as they plan for their businesses.
I first saw the Girl for All Times dolls on Etsy, where there were no dolls for sale, but there are patterns. They are 16′ tall, so they can’t share clothes with AGs, but some of the pattern makers have the same patterns in both sizes.
Not only are there no-iron fabrics, but there must now be at least 2 generations of children that don’t know what clotheslines are.
