Show and Tell Christmas Doll Dresses from Everyone…

I know some of you were expecting to see Felicity’s Christmas dress finished and on here today, but I didn’t want to take up another post to show you that all I got done on it was to get it hemmed, the snaps sewn on and the backside figured out. I’m hoping to get her petticoat finished for underneath it, her hat/bonnet made, probably a mob cap, and possibly snag a necklace from dear Rebecca for it. I’ll save all the details for a soon coming post and share it all at one time.

Meanwhile….

I asked a few posts back if you all would like to share the Christmas dresses you have made for your dolls with everyone? I have gotten quite a few responses and thought I’d show some in a couple of different posts before Christmas gets here. Anyone can show a doll dress and don’t be shy… if you made something, go ahead and share it… we are a nice group and you won’t be judged on how straight your seams are or if your plaids are matched. This is just for fun and inspiration! Have fun looking at these first pictures sent to me. (If you have any trouble sending them to me, just sent me a quick email and I’ll help you out…)

Jane was the first to send a picture… Here’s Felicity modeling a new Christmas dress…
(On my computer, Janes doll dress is right side up but on my iPad it is sideways. Sorry Jane…I’m not sure how to fix that…)

This was the first “batch” of dresses I received pictures of, but if you have been working on something or even if you have dresses that you didn’t make but want to share them in their “Christmas finery,” please go ahead and send them to me… If you have any trouble with sending them, my email address is jeannewiedlocher@gmail.com

See you tomorrow,

    1. Thanks for your comments Pom,
It was fun seeing everyone’s creations, wasn’t it? I got a few more ladies who emailed me this morning and said they’d like to share their things too… so hang on, and you’ll see some more sometime soon.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  1. Thanks, Jeanne, for sharing my Christmas dresses. I made them over several years, not all at once- : ) . Some were made for sell on eBay, others went to my granddaughters (I have 5 and all have American Girl dolls.) My goal this Christmas is to make as many Disney Princess doll dresses as I can for my 2 youngest granddaughters. I just finished the one for Tiana and that was a real challenge!
I love you blog and read it first thing every morning. I love your dresses. In fact, you were my inspiration to get started on something I found that I love to do.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. And Merry Christmas to all who read this blog. May we find peace in the New Year.

    1. Hi Barbara,
I’m glad to have been the one that inspired you back to sewing again… Just think of all the dresses your granddaughters would have missed if you hadn’t made them those pretty dresses!
Thanks for your kind words about my blog being something you love to read each day… That’s very kind of you to mention…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. My goodness, Jeanne, you have some talented readers! I wish I could be able to take the time to sew more, but the farther away you get from it, the harder it is to get back! Don’t ever get away from it, you do such lovely work, as do some of your readers!

    1. HI Linda,
Well, as long as I have breath and 2 hands that work (and at least one foot that works) I’ll keep sewing… Actually at one time I thought about quitting and was going to just sew up what fabrics I had and not buy anything new. But I found myself having to buy a little of this to finish this thing and a little of that to finish that…and before I knew it, there was no way I could stop… I had accumulated too much stuff again… Oh well, guess I’m just meant to sew… I do love making the doll clothes…it’s been my favorite part of my sewing life!
Thanks Linda, You’re stuck with me a little bit longer…
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Hi Jeanne, … and Jane, Joy, Susette, and Barbara,
It’s so much fun to see what your readers make, Jeanne, great idea you had. For some reason Joy’s photo is all black on my screen; I dragged in onto my desktop and saw sweet Sophie in her cute Santa dress. Wow, Barbara, you have been busy, but I guess you need to be with 5 granddaughters, lucky you. Susette, I love your classic AG dresses, so pretty. Jane, you made the perfect dress for caroling, wearing in the church choir, or a school Christmas concert. Thanks for sharing your wonderful creations with us, ladies. Have a great weekend everyone.

    1. Thanks Cindy,
You should do the same thing on your blog… have ladies post pictures of their “knitted” Christmas things… :o)
It was fun for me to see what everyone else has been working on. But now I must get back in my sewing room, myself and see if I can get Felicity’s dress finished…
      Thanks for your comments Cindy,
Always a blessing to hear from you,
      ~ Jeanne

  4. Absolutely loved seeing everyone’s dresses! So fun to see all the variety. Great idea Jeanne.
Strange about the photos too. When I first viewed on my husband’s computer Jane’s dress was right side up. On my computer sideways. Can see my photo ok on both. Why? Don’t know.
Sounds like you have done a lot on the dress Jeanne. I really need to get movin on something for the 10ers. So far zero for them.

    1. HI Joy,
Sometimes sewing fits into your schedule and sometimes it doesn’t. Maybe if you don’t get anything made this year, next year you might!
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing all the creations from a few of my readers! It’s always fun to see what is being made by everyone…
      Thanks again Joy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. It’s sure fun to see the dresses others are making, all treasures. Thanks, Cindy, for the lovely compliment. It means a lot coming from such a talented artist. I love your Blog with the beautiful miniature knitted doll clothes and your pictures of snow and your big yard.

Finding Jeanne’s Blog is what got me sewing again after an over-40-year hiatus and my granddaughter getting an American Girl doll! I’ll send a picture of the Christmas dress Riya designed for me to sew for her doll before sending it to her so the doll can wear it to her piano recital. It’s nice to have a “new” hobby!

Love reading and learning from your Blog every morning, Jeanne, and checking back for comments. I learn a lot from your readers, too. Thanks everyone.

    1. HI Susette,
Thank you for all your kind compliments on my blog…I am so thrilled that you enjoy it so much! It makes me try harder each day to post something interesting and fun to read.

It is fun to see all the things others are making… lots of sewing machines churning out those Christmas dresses, aren’t there?
      Thanks so much Susette,
      Blessings, Jeanne
