I was going to do another post today, but my day was filled with too many interruptions, and I wasn’t able to get it ready, so I turned to plan B… You should come back tomorrow. I think my title might be something like “From Candy to Chalkboards…” :o)
Today my pictures are like little thumbnail shots on my iPad…I will have to find someone who can help me figure this picture mystery out…
Saturday morning my daughter, Rebecca, woke up and said, “Let’s get some new Skinny Scarves made for our Etsy shop.” So…we did! What’s a Skinny Scarf, you ask? It’s a fun and pretty scarf made from 40-60 strands or sometimes more, of novelty yarns, various strands of fibers, threads, and sometimes ribbon or vintage baby rick rack. Many of our Skinny Scarves are pre-tied with a front knot and accented with a beautiful cluster of glass beads handcrafted by my daugher. You get your wonderful “not so bulky” scarf with your jewelry added on the scarf. They are very fun to wear and are really, really warm around your neck. We only use soft and cozy yarns so they don’t itch and bug you.
We worked almost all day in my sewing room… she put the strands together, I tied them, she handcrafted all the glass “bling” for them, I sewed the bling on, she thought of the colors, I took the pictures, listed them and now it’s up to everyone out there looking for a last minute Christmas gift to buy them… spread the word… will you?
I covered my mannequin with some stretch lace and I think she looks so much prettier than plastic! It shows off the colors of the yarn better too. Many of my yarns were sent to me from Maureen… and I wanted to publically thank her… we have SO many colors to pick from and it’s fun to dump all the blues out on the table or all the reds and pick out the ones you want to use. Thank you so much!
We also added a couple of children’s Skinny Scarves… why should they be left out of all the fun. They are made with soft and cuddly yarns and so much fun to wear.
We have 10 new ones listed in our Etsy shop. I’ll put a link to it below or your can just click on the little orange Etsy icon at the right side bar. Here are all the newest ones with some showing them on the mannequin, some showing the bling and some showing the colors used…
If you want to check these Skinny Scarves out, visit out Etsy shop HERE.
I’ll see you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
For those of us like me who thought you probably needed a day off to nurse your aching arms and probably an aching ankle, your last post yesterday was a pleasant surprise. You got so much done. Everready batteries will want to use you for a commercial.
I mailed packages yesterday. In spite of the Christmas mail, the line moved fairly quickly, and in spite of the fact that I was mailing 7 boxes, including one to Susette, no one gave me a single dirty look. Christmas is alive and well at the post office, as well as on your blog.
Are you still thinking of a Kirsten dress and a very short auction, or are you going to wait until Feb. 2, when we’ll be halfway through winter and moving toward spring and a bright, happy dress would be in order again?
HI Marilyn,
I’m running late again, but I will get these 6 comments answered…
No rest for me…not now…maybe Friday! Nope…I gotta start my Christmas shopping… :o)
I can remember staying up in my bedroom on Christmas Eve making my mom some counted cross stitch picture… I guess I’m still at my old ways… :o(
No Kirsten dress this year…I’m so sad, but next year she’ll get one…
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
I’m thinking projects like these are ‘good for the soul’…. just imagining all the colors, textures, and thinking about how to combine them. Very *pretty*! do you make ‘doll sized’ ones? I’m not much of a scarf wearer…..
HI Mary,
Thanks so much for your compliments on our Skinny Scarves… We have fun working together with each other in my sewing room… and yes, we do make scarves for the American Girl dolls… but I’ve sold out of a lot of them… I’ll try to get some in there…
Thank you,
Blessings, Jeanne
If I were lucky enough to have a mannequin, I would definitely look at the lace covering. Looks lovely.
Can’t wait for Candy to Chalkboards?? Mystery…
HI Joy,
I like the looks of the lace on my mannequin too… Thanks,
Actually I changed the title to Chalkboards to Chocolates… You’ll see tomorrow!
Blessings, Jeanne
So pretty Jeanne! I would love one of those scarves, and if I can ever make up my mind of what color, I will certainly get one! I’m liking blue and green a lot!
It’ s nice to have more than one kind of thing to make, and these lovely scarves are a fun project for you and Rebecca. Do you have one for yourself, or is it like the case of the shoemaker’s children having no shoes? LOL
Hi Linda,
Thank you for the compliments on the scarves… I do have some for myself…a turquoise and lime green one and a green one… Sometimes I put them on in the house when it’s chilly. It’s unreal how they can warm you up!
I’ll try and get some more made… soon…
Blessings, Jeanne
I’m just getting to your posts. The scarves are beautiful Jeanne and Rebecca- the colors and the bling!!
I’m laughing at Linda’s expression of “the case of the shoemaker’s children having no shoes” I’ve never heard that before but it understand it. BTW, Linda, I thought your girls were so cute in their church aprons. So Christmacy.
Hope you can rest some Jeanne. You deserve it!
Hi Paula,
I’m even later than you at getting to my comments… but I did it. Thanks for liking the scarves… They really are fun to wear and “get compliments on!”
I’ll rest on Friday… then it will all be done… well, the parties at least…
Blessings, Jeanne
You and Rebecca certainly had a productive day getting all those pretty scarves made. I hope you do well with them on Etsy. I agree that the mannequin looks better with her lace cover. Good idea! I’ve been wrapping gifts–I have made quite a mess, and I’ not even finished yet. I sat down on the couch to take a break, and I may be here a while. There’s always tomorrow…..
HI Carolyn,
Thanks for taking a peek at our scarves in our Etsy shop…
I may be joining you on the couch as soon as I can… :o)
Take care,
Blessings, Jeanne
