This is a continuation of the previous 2 posts… I have been showing you all the dresses I made in 2015… This whole post today will feature nothing but the Christmas dresses… I hope you enjoy seeing them all again… If you missed Part 1, you can see it HERE… If you missed Part 2, you can see that one HERE.
Patsy started the Christmas dresses in “Snow Princess.”
Then it was Molly’s turn in “Merry Christmas Molly”
Nyssa got a chance to model something…finally… “Frosted Silver Reverie…” I may never forget this dress… :o/
Eden did a great job of modeling for the 50’s again in “Holiday Sparkle.”
Ten Ping did a great job and looked spectacular in her black and hot pink dress set…
Lian was finishing up the year with one last dress for the Effner girls… this was called “Christmas Elegance” and broke a record with watchers for my listings on Ebay… thanks everyone..
I’m almost out of time to make any more Christmas dresses, but squeaked this “Colonial Christmas Charm” in just in the nick of time…
…and my very last dress of 2015, was this Civil War dress…shown on Rebecca again…(crooked sash point and all…I wish I had retaken my pictures of it…)
WHEW!!! That’s a LOT of dresses!!! I think I counted right and it’s 42 doll dresses…not as many doll dresses as I’ve done in previous years, but enough… because I also made 3 prototype “real girl” Easter dresses, 2 flower girl dresses, twirly slips, doll slips, skinny scarves, pantalettes, tiny doll shoes, and a few other things…
I hope you’ve enjoyed these last few days of looking back at 2015! I won’t even ask you if you had a favorite…but if you did…I’d love to know which one it was. :o)
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
If I had a favorite, which would it be. I’ll choose, and as soon as I send this, I’ll think I should have added one or another. Lian’s Christmas Elegance had the most watchers for a reason. The beautiful lavender Civil War one was a favorite of mine. The red Regency one was another. And of course the ones living at my house are at the top of my list.
OK — off for cataract surgery. I’m usually not hungry in the mornings. Too bad for me today.
Hi Marilyn,
Thanks so much for being such a faithful reader, commenter, (sp?) and friend… I appreciate and value everything you say…
I’m glad you’d have a hard time choosing a favorite dress…that means I did something right!
I pray your cataract surgery goes well and you’ll be seeing like a 16 year old soon!!!
Blessings, Jeanne
The 16 year old I was was very nearsighted. I’ve chosen nearsighted lenses again — it’s what I’m used to. Now I have a patch over my eye but if I’m lucky it will come off today and I can put on my glasses and see better. I’ll then have one good eye and one with a cataract — the second eye gets surgery next week. I nearly spoiled the whole thing by eating some really good candied pecans a friend sent me while I was reading your post this morning. I remembered in time and my reward is that I get to eat some now.
I’ve been trying to limit my favorites to a reasonable number but I really do have to add Rebecca’s red Civil War dress and cap. I think I’m going to go put on your Rebecca’s earrings that I won earlier to cheer me up. My eye is a bit scratchy and the earring will cheer me up.
HI Marilyn,
I’m nearsighted myself and have worn contacts since I was 16. When you get all finished next week, you’ll be a whole new Marilyn.
I’ve heard that taking it easy is the best thing you can do… I hope you do!
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,
All of your dresses are beautiful. Thank you for taking time to post them all again for us….a real treat.
If I had to choose a favorite, I’d choose favorites…mine all happen to be the ones that you made for the historical American Girl dolls…top of the list is Kirsten’s dirndl…and then really liked the last one you did for Felicity…as well as the earlier one for her. Your use of colors and textures are a delight to behold.
Merry Christmas!
Hi Becky,
I’m really sad that I didn’t get to Kirsten’s Christmas dress this year. I think it was going to be so pretty!
Thanks so much for your kind compliments on my dresses. I really enjoy sewing them and then seeing them all together was a treat for me too!
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,
It was wonderful getting to see all of your the 2015 dresses. They are all so beautiful. Of course, I love the period dresses but I have to say Lian’s, Christmas Elegance, is one of my favorites as well as Eden in Teacher’s Pet. I love those two as well as the ones I received.
I hope you have a wonderful day. Hope you can sit a bit and enjoy a Christmas movie with a cup of hot chocolate!
” Have your self a merry little Christmas, let your heart be light…”
HI Paula,
Thank you for your kind words about all the dresses I made this past year. I can’t believe it’s almost time to start a new year… who will be first and what will I make her???
I have lots to do today and tomorrow… I did watch I’ts a Wonderful Life the other night…that will have to count as my movie…
I hope you have a Merry Christmas too! Thanks for all your purchases this year…
Blessings, Jeanne
Thanks for reposting all of your 2015 creations Jeanne, even those for the real dolls! 😉 It was so nice to see them all again and all in one place!
Thanks too for sharing about the 350 project, what a wonderful way to celebrate the season!
A very Merry Christmas and a fantastic 2016 to you and your family!
Thank you so much for your compliments Connie.
I appreciate them and hope YOU have a wonderful and Merry Christmas with your family as well…
See you next year…
Blessings, Jeanne
I’ve enjoyed seeing all your 2015 creations, Jeanne, but I didn’t count them. Please tell us how many there are.
HI Jevne,
There were 42 doll dresses made, plus a few in there for friends… so maybe 45 total doll dresses… One year I did 127 dresses…how I did that, I don’t know, but I obviously was sewing a lot more than I am now…
Merry Christmas Jevne,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, I joined your blog about mid-year and it’s truly a daily pleasure! My favorite dress is probably Ten Ping’s Razzle Dazzle. So creative! I loved your sharing the journey to make Ten Ping shoes. And it’s been, believe it or not, very encouraging to hear about the “challenges” you’ve encountered and overcome with some of your creations. I’m a novice at sewing so almost every outfit I attempt presents a new challenge – or ten! LOL It truly helps to know that even those with years of experience run into “issues” now and then. Thanks for the inspiration and dolly eye-candy!
HI Cheryl,
I’m so glad you became a part of my blog family… It’s fun for me to see which dresses everyone picks as their favorites… for you, it was Razzle Dazzle…thanks!
Yes, it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been sewing, there are still days when you rip out
sleeves, collars, and much more… I’m happy to “keep it real” and still inspire everyone to sew…
Blessings and Merry Christmas to you,
~ Jeanne
Lians dress is my favorite.
Hi Jan,
I almost saved the “best” for last, didn’t I? I liked her dress too!
Thanks Jan,
Blessings, Jeanne
The details of Kirsten’s dress with the handkerchief apron are wonderful. “Christmas Elegance” is my favorite because it kind of takes after a dress for my granddaughter, and Ten Ping’s outfit comes in third for demonstrating the variety of clothes she can wear, but they are all wonderful.
I think what got me sewing again after 40 years were the stories you told about rip, rip, sew, sew, fix it, design it a little differently than the pattern directions. So I started thinking, “I can do that myself” after buying clothes for the dolls on eBay. Thanks for a wonderful new hobby. I’ve been inspired by a lot of other ideas from the ladies who contribute to your Blog. Thanks, everyone.
Now I’ve going to relax myself and watch “A Christmas Story,” and be reminded of how my own family celebrated Christmas during that era, the “discussions” of how much sage to put in the dressing, that wonderful stove, and lots of other details. Then back to the work of Christmas.
Thanks so much for your wonderful comments, Susette! I’m so thrilled that I inspired you enough to pick up an old hobby again and sew for your dolls. The more you sew, the better you’ll get… practice, practice, practice!!!
I’m sorting out my clothes today…a big undertaking but something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time…
I just checked the tracking number and Rahki’s scarf made it to NJ today…
I think Suemae’s will get there tomorrow. It says tomorrow…
Thanks so very much,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,
My other favorites are “Let there be Lavender”, “Colonial Charm” and the last Civil War dress of the year. I’ve enjoyed seeing all your creations for the year, but like the American Girl dresses best since those are the dolls I have in common with you.
It has been so enjoyable to get to know you and chat with you during the past year.
I am looking forward to seeing all your creations next year as well. You have been an inspiration that all of us can create fun things for our dolls and I’ve so enjoyed the little tutorials that you have shared. Thank you so much.
I wish you and your family and very Merry and blessed Christmas.
Laura
Thank you so much Laura,
I could echo back to you how much I have appreciated all your sweet comments and thoughts on the dolls, lots of ideas you’ve given me to share with everyone, and information I didn’t know about… Thanks so much!
I wonder who will be added to my doll collection next, or possibly who will be leaving next… if someone comes in, someone needs to go out… :o(
I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas too!
Blessings, Jeanne
Just finished the chocolate swirl cheesecake and raspberry sauce. Cooling now, so I get a break. Love Lian’s Christmas dress. Everything about it is impressive.
Can’t wait to see what wonders you produce in the new year.
Thank you Joy,
You have been so kind with your compliments this year and I truly do appreciate them… I hope your Christmas is a blessed one!
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, again, I am late, but have been so busy! I guess busy is good, but I miss taking time to read your blog at a more leisurely pace, and sip my coffee while waking myself up! It’s so good to wake up in dolly land with Jeanne!!
You have made so many lovely outfits, that I can’t imagine picking just one, but Lian’s Christmas dress was just the most perfect outfit I can imagine. So very elegant, not too sparkly or cheesy looking, just a wonderful match of fabrics, colors and design and perfect fit. It was a wonderful way to end the year with so many pretty dresses.
I truly appreciate your inspiration and expertise that you show in your blog. You even got me back to sewing a teensy bit for Felicity, and I am going to get that dress finished after the holidays for sure—–or else!
.
Thank you Linda, for always being one of my early morning readers and getting things started in my comments… It’s nice for me…and hopefully for you too…
Yes, it’s that busy time of year, for everyone I think.
I think Lian’s might be one of my top 5 of this year too…it just all came together so sweetly and looked so adorable on her.
I hope I can continue with the inspiration and creativity next year… Thanks so much for being a part of everything this year…
Blessings, Jeanne
Happy Boxing Day Jeanne!
Time to stop and read a little…
What lovely posts, thank you!
Love seeing all the dresses.
Christmas dress favorites-definitely Lian’s! And I love Nyssa’s, so classy, and Patsy’s pretty blue “Snow Princess” dress.
Have a lovely relaxing day…
Jano
