Before I start today’s post I had the most precious picture to share with you… Last week I had a drawing for a lacy slip and Jan actually won it, but she wanted to give it to Cindy, who had a granddaughter with an American Girl doll. Well, Cindy sent me the sweetest picture of Alise and her “twin” American Girl doll, with red hair and freckles…isn’t this an adorable picture? I sure hope the picture comes out upright…

I seriously don’t know how we can be 11 days from the end of the year, but that’s what the calendar says, so it must be right…It’s been a very busy year for me and I’ll find out at the end of this post just how many dresses I managed to get made this year… well, maybe not ONE post, hopefully 2 or more… I hope I’ve been THAT busy…
It’s always a little bit sad to close out the year, knowing that some of my dolls didn’t get a new Christmas dress, but I tried. I think if I hadn’t hurt my foot and was out of commission for those few weeks, I could have made it through my list… Oh well, I’ll try again next year…
Someone mentioned in a comment that it would be fun to see all the things I made this past year in one post…and I wrote that idea down and have been working on gathering all the pictures for it. So…here goes… from the beginning of the year till the last one I just mailed off a few days ago… A year in the life of Jeanne Marie…
[Until I get the issues resolved with my pictures being sometimes sideways and upside down, I’m letting you know they may be cockeyed on whatever device you view my blog on… sometimes the pics are fine and other times they aren’t…arrrggg!]
Up first in 2015 was Molly in her “Vision of Valentine” dress…
Patsy Tonner was next in her “Precious in Pink” dress…I don’t think she’s ever looked sweeter…
Julie, from the 70’s came to live at my house and this was her debut dress…
Elizabeth got the Regency period off to a great start in this coral colored gown…
Rebecca starts off the Spring with “Spring Splendor.”
In between making doll dresses, I made 2 prototype dresses for 2 little flower girls… this was Hannah’s dress…for Easter.
This was Nora’s prototype dress for the wedding, which she wore for Easter too…
Here are both girls in their dresses…oops…I forgot, Nora’s first dress was too big so I made her another one…
Next came Patsy Tonner and Elin modeling their Easter dress…
Next were my 3 Dianna Effner Little Darlings in their green, blue and pink Easter dresses…
Janie and Lian both wanted to show off how cute their “Here a Chick, There a Chick” Easter dress set was…
Isabelle got her chance to model a dress all by herself… Here she is in “Hip Hoppity Happy Easter”…
Next up in 2015 was Kirsten in “Swedish Dreams”….
Molly got to model the next dress… “Happy Birthday Molly!”
One of my favorites of the year was Julie’s “Springtime Sweetness”…a dress just like I used to have in the 70’s. I drafted this pattern and loved how it turned out…
Then tiny little 8″ Ten Ping came to live at my house and I made her debut dress out of the same fabric that I’ve made my other Asian dolls debut dresses out of…
Lian got things hopping with her very sweet “Ebony and Pink” dress set….one of my favorites this year…
Ten Ping got another chance to model when she wore her “Asian Allure” set…
I’ll have to spread out my dresses as I have too many to load into one post… so I hope you’ll come back tomorrow to see if you see your favorite dress of the year!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
That’s very impressive. I’m glad I don’t have to choose a favorite. I do think the picture of Ten Ping sitting in your hand is special. Maybe you could let her model something and sit in your hand for one of the photos.
How many months did you cover in this first section?
Red haired girls keep showing up — at the post office, in the grocery store, on your blog. My red haired nephew and his red haired wife are expecting a baby girl in spring. We have hopes … but she could be blond like her grandmother or dark haired like her grandfather — whatever color hair she has, they can’t lose. Alise looks like a sweetheart, and her name is as pretty as she is.
Hi Marilyn,I think these dresses went to mid Spring. We are on our way back from taking Sara and her family to the St. Louis airport. Someone sent them tickets to visit friends in NJ.
I always liked that picture of Ten Ping in my hand too.
On my phone and desktop Alise is right side up but on my iPad she is sideways…yes, she is adorable!
Blessings, Jeanne
I hadn’t seen other girls with the matching dolls except my own granddaughter before. Both so pretty and an amazing match for her beautiful red hair! The picture is sideways, but lovely. All the rest are fine. I really think it’s all those different cameras and computers. Just so your own come out right.
I liked seeing the pictures of your cute little bridesmaid nieces, and the dresses you made were an inspiration for me to sew for my granddaughter. Wow! So many dresses and more to come. Love your choice of fabrics for the Ten Ping dresses and really all of them. Artistry in miniature. “Asian Allure” shoes are adorable matches for the fabric. Where do you find the felt cutout flowers, or do you have special equipment (or a laser, ha, ha) to make them yourself?
The scarves I ordered for my daughters-in-law are amazing. Being able to ask them what colors they like best make them especially personal gifts. I know they will love them and I can’t remember being so happy with the choice of a gift for someone. Maybe you’ll show pictures of them as part of your year-end roundup. Thanks again to you and Rebecca.
Hi Susette, thanks for all the compliments you gave me on my dresses…when I was looking through all my pictures and getting this years in order, I had to stop for a moment and just consider how many dresses I have made…doll and little girl combined end I’m guessing around 3000 or so!
If you look on Etsy you can find die-cut felt flowers.
I was stunned by how pretty Suemae’s dark blue, light blue and lavender one turned out. Both hers and Rahki’s ate supposed to arrive by Thursday…I hold they do.
I boxed up Sara’s necklace and gave it to her to take on her trip and open on Christmas morning..
Thank you Susette, blessings, Jeanne
I’m glad I asked to see all the dresses. Cindy’s granddaughter looks lovely with her matching doll.. That picture is sideways, but all the rest are upright. It seems to be the ones that aren’t yours to begin with that are the problem
You HAVE had a busy year sewing and I think it was also a year of new dolls- Julie and Ten-Ping so far!! I agree that AG needs to make more red haired dolls, they are lovely. * looks lovingly at Felicity*. I always like that my dark hair had reddish highlights when I got some sun. I wish AG would make another red haired historical doll without bangs. ME was cute, but I didn’t care for her bangs.
My favorite dresses of this batch are the Spring Splendor and Kirsten’s. Swedish Dreams.
Hi Laura, I thought it was you or Carolyn but didn’t have time to go back to see. It made for a nice post, or I should say Posts!
Actually my new dolls were Julie, Ten Ping, Josefina and Felicity.
I was very close to getting the red haired #61 doll but then I found my Felicity… I didn’t care for Maryellens bangs either
..but I love looking at the red heads…
Thanks Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
No favorite here. All pretty amazing work.
Our oldest daughter is a red head. 2nd daughter light brown. Found out after having DNA done that both my husband and I are carriers of the red head gene. Those red heads only pop up occasionally though. No red head grand kiddies yet anyway.
Hi Joy,
I know all about that red head gene…both my sisters and brother, all my nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles all have dark hair and I ended up with two kids with red hair….my mom takes all the credit!
Thanks Joy, blessings, Jeanne
Alise looks wonderful with her doll! Loved seeing her with the slip. Flower girl dresses are a favorite and for a doll theSwedish outfit.
Thank you Jan…
It was nice of Cindy to send me Alise’s picture of her doll…and that smile!
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, I am so tired, after a day of cookie baking and unexpected visitors! I just had to comment on the sweet picture of Alise and her doll with the new slip. She is a doll herself, and looks so happy to have that slip made by Jeanne Marie!
I loved seeing all those beautiful dresses again, and can’t begin to pick one favorite. They all are number one with me!
Thanks Linda.
I am pretty pooped myself…we are on our way home from St Louis after dropping off Sara and her family at the airport. They are heading to New Jersey. We went to Savers Zthrify store and then ate at and walked around the mall. After we left them George went to Harbor Freight and I got to go to JoAnn’s, Jackman’s, and Hancock’s. I just got a few boring staples…
I am baking tomorrow with Rebecca and have another foot appointment….
I need to get on the stick with my Christmas plans!!!
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, jeanne
