I got the cutest card in the mail from Regina, one of my subscribers, and just had to show you…
I actually got a new “shoe” today… Wish it was red like Regina’s shoe… *sigh*
The doctor believes the side of my foot has a stress fracture so she prescribed this “shoe cast” as it’s called. I’m not sure it’s going to do any good. My foot just sort of flops around in it, slips up on the heel, and there’s no support. The only thing is does is keep my foot from bending in the middle where my arch is…it keeps my foot flat. *sigh* again…
The only thing I really got accomplished was a start on Molly’s dress… we’ve had one fitting and so far so good, but not a very big start…
My hubby did pick up a size 0 paint brush for me, so I’m hoping to get Kit’s lips painted this weekend…
It was sort of a slow day for me today… I hope your’s was better!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh Jeanne, what a darling shoe—-the first one, that is! Oh, I know those black “clunkers” are not easy to wear! When I had my tendon torn on my foot, I had to wear one of those big ones that go half way up your leg, and had me walking like Frankenstein did!!! Couldn’t bend even my ankle, just ugh! Sometimes I just took the doggone thing off for a bit, but I will say it helped a lot! Just carry on, dear Jeanne!
Well Molly will look very cute with that jumper! My daughter’s jumper had long puffed sleeves though, but yours are just as cute! Some cute red bows on her braids will look good too!
HI Linda,
Isn’t that red heel the sweetest looking thing? The trim going around the edge of it is called Rococo trim. Its so adorable!
I think I almost need the boot type for where my foot hurts. Even when I have the shoe cast on, sometimes I twist my leg and it goes right to where the side of my foot hurts… They are kind of a pain to walk in…aren’t they?
I thought about long sleeves but decided on the short… We’ll have to see how Molly wants to wear her hair for Christmas… :o)
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
The card is just perfect! ,Your med shoe has a long way to go to make it as stylish as the shoe on the card, but if it helps you than it will be good. Your ankle still is swollen! Body betrayal is not fun.
HI Jan,
Yes, Regina’s card was so sweet… I loved it the moment I opened it up and saw the picture. Maybe I could add some “embellishements” to my boot…it could sure use something!
Thanks for your sweet note, Jan,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hello Jeanne,
So sorry to hear that your foot is worse than first diagnosed, not fun at all. Are you able to walk on it at all? For not feeling well you have gotten quite a bit accomplished this week. Patsy’s “Snow Princess” ensemble is wonderful. She DOES look pretty in light blue and perfectly sweet with her silver “Reuben” puppy. You made a good start on Molly’s dress too. Not bad for having a bum foot I’d say.
I would love to see your steps at painting Kit’s lips and the materials you use. My Lisbet needs new lips, but I can’t remove the acrylic paint from the crevices, and it is too dark. That was my one try at painting a face, and I flubbed it by using too dark a color and not thinning it enough.
Sending you more “heeling” thoughts, Jeanne!
HI Cindy,
Yes, I can walk on the inside part of my right foot, but it’s not very comfortable and it throws my whole body off kilter when I do. So I”m trying to be good and use the boot they gave me…but then I have to wear a higher shoe on my left foot to keep me evenly balanced…
Thanks for your kind words on my doll dresses. I’m hoping to get more done on Molly’s dress today.
Maybe I’ll take some pictures of painting Kit’s lips… I hope I can do this… did you try the Winsor and Newton paint remover stuff? I haven’t opened my bottle yet, but I heard it’s really good stuff for getting all the paint off. I’ll let you know…
Thanks for commenting today, Cindy,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne,
1st: The boot as I all it. I have a boot that I have wore twice for stress fracture in my right foot. Had to wear it to work dressed in a skirt suit and a matching low heel shoe. My boot is taller and wraps a bit above the ankle. For me the boot really worked well for the six weeks I had to wear it each time. I have even put it on loan to others as they are darned expensive to buy. Insurance covered mine. If the one you have is not right I would suggest you look into the boot that is higher. Also, had to wear a sock with it. Oh, it looks so fashionable with my suits!!
2nd: That card is totally awesome. Such talent for the person who made it. Regina was so kind to send that card to you. I can tell that it really did cheer you to receive it.
3rd: Molly’s bodice is looking very nice. I do love that eyelet you have for the blouse so with the black velvety fabric it will quite Christmas-y. {not sure I spelled that correctly}
Lastly, I continue to send my prayers for you as you heal. I pray for patience and that you do not overdo and re-injure yourself.
{I could send you my boot if you desire} !!
HI Jeannie,
I’m glad to hear that both you and Linda had successful results with the higher boot…and that both your injuries healed in time. I have a friend who had a very severely sprained ankle and I think she had the higher boot. I might have her bring it to church tomorrow and see if I can wear it and see if it is better at immobilizing my foot. That’s what hurts, is when I do something, and my foot isn’t supported and it’s like a bolt of lighting going into that one spot…OUCH!
Yes, the card was wonderful to open up and I really enjoyed it.
I’m hoping to get Molly’s dress worked on more today and I’ve asked Rebecca is she might be able to get to my Regency necklace today too! I hope so…
Thanks for your thoughts Jeannie,
Blessings to you, Jeanne
Jeanne, I am happy that you liked the card I sent you. I love the shoe with all the trims and it was just perfect for you and your injured foot. Sorry that you have to wear that boot, but hope it helps you heal quicker. Molly’s dress is going to be so pretty!
HI Regina,
I really did enjoy the card and I have it sitting up in my sewing room. That was very kind of you to send it and I just love the cute picture!
My “boot” isn’t nearly as cute as that red shoe…by a long shot!!!
Thanks again, Have a great Weekend!
Blessings, Jeanne
Love the card from Regina!
If it were me, I would be emailing my doctor explaining that the mid evil torture device isn’t working. I’m sure there are others of different design that might work better for you. Almost sounds like it is too wide. Shouldn’t slip on your heel. Thicker socks? As per Dr. Joy. Ha. Oh, just a thought, but maybe you can drive with the shoe since it keeps your foot protected?? Uh, maybe not.
Molly’s dress is looking very cute.
Keep up your spirits. Read a good book
HI Joy,
I do have a dr. appointment on Monday, so I’ll see… I really doesn’t seem like what’s needed for where my foot hurts…
I wish I could drive now, but so far, it’s too sore… I think I could drive, but if I had to slam on my brakes, I think I would scream!
I’m going to work some more on Molly’s dress… hopefully get some more done on it…
Thanks Dr. Joy!
Blessings, Jeanne
Hummm…if the boot isn’t a good fit then maybe wrap it with an ace bandage first…cause if it isn’t a good fit then it may not be helping it stay in place…the one that comes over the ankle ( like Jeannie’s) might be better
The blouse is perfect and it will be a darling combo with the skirt, Don’t let not accomplishing your usual amount of work get you down. ((HUGS))
Tomorrow is my Granddaughter Elizabeth’s 9 th Birthday and my hubby made her a set of beds like the new AG bookcase headboard with trundle…she printed him off a picture of what she wanted. LOL She has Kiley…one that has her coloring and she’s getting another one tomorrow..so good thing this bed will sleep 2 with the trundle!
PS I saw lots of AG items at Costco yesterday…even a doll for 99.00..they all appeared to be blonde but I didn’t look behind the first row…and Bitty Baby with a few accessories for 79.00
Hi Kathie,
I thought about doing an ace bandage wrap first but didn’t do it. Maybe I’ll try it and see if it holds my foot in place more.
I actually have been a little bit depressed Kathie. I just can’t seem to get anything done… I am stuck at home because I can’t drive, I wish I could use this time to clean my house really well, but I can’t be up on my feet so much for that, I want to sew, but I can only do it for limited time or my foot swells, my hubby doesn’t want me to walk Reuben, because he jerks at his leash, and if he got loose somehow, there is no way I could chase him, I don’t want to cook anymore…(I’ve gained 3 pounds since I hurt my foot… too sedentary!) :o(((
I just seem kind of lost right now… sorry to dump… just hadn’t said that to anyone yet!
I bet your Elizabeth will be thrilled with her new beds from Grandpa! What a fun 9th birthday she’s going to have.
I’ve never been to a Costco store before, but I’ve heard they are wonderful. We have Sam’s Club around here. Were the blond dolls like the Truly Me dolls?
Thanks for your thoughts Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
This is the first time in over a week that going to the website took me straight to the blog. I’ve been getting a blank screen in the pale yellow background color. If I scroll to the bottom I begin to pick up something — usually the current auction — and if I move back toward the top, I begin to pick up the last few blogs, though yesterday I got one from July instead of the current one and one about repairing a chair, and while that was interesting, what I wanted to know is how your foot is. I’ll let you know what happens when I try tomorrow. I keep wondering if the people who unsubscribed were having the same problems I was.
You said walking was hard, but can you walk? That would be wonderful. Would thicker socks help? I was hoping for a lot of support but I suppose a foot that changes size with swelling has to be considered, but I wanted this to be supportive, comfortable, and comforting. The most comforting thing about it is that Linda says hers helped a lot.
Now to Molly’s outfit. I think that’s my favorite white blouse fabric, and I must say that I really like the lace you’ve chosen. I like the black velvet top, and I think this outfit is going to really suit Molly’s style. I think we all love that plaid.
Are you going to be able to take that blog class?
Continue to “heel” fast, and congratulations on all the progress.
HI Marilyn,
I don’t have a clue what could be causing the “blog” problems for you. It seems really strange to me for you to see old posts and then have part of it there but not all… hmmm…
I “can” walk on it, but not my regular walk…sort of a hobble… or a limp I guess. I thought the boot was going to be a comfort too, on my foot, but it’s not the case…it actually makes it ache!
I wish I had bought more of that white eyelet too…it’s wonderful with all the textures it has in the design…I’m hoping to get it worked on today..as well as Kit’s lips…
The blog class is supposed to meet up this Wednesday. She said I didn’t miss too much the first night, when I hurt my foot. She said I could easily catch up with the rest of the ladies. I’m looking forward to it and hope this time I can make it…
Well, I better get hopping on Molly’s dress and Kit’s lips… don’t know which I’ll start on first…
Thanks, Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Why didn’t I think of an Ace bandage — not a sticky one, but one of the sort they may still have — cloth and elastic and something that feels soft. Years ago I broke my arm and pushed the shoulder bone out of the socket, so I couldn’t wear a cast — way too heavy — but the bones needed to be stabilized. I was told not to use an Ace bandage because it would cut off the circulation, but the grinding bones were nasty and I couldn’t see how unstabilized bones could mend, so I had my mother wrap my upper arm fairly loosely, loose enough for circulation, tight enough for stability, and it worked fine. You have a very sensible husband who is good at fixing things and I’m sure he could wrap it mid-foot to ankle and it might very well fit into the too loose boot with a nice soft sock over it for warmth.
That was my right arm. I kept trying to embroider anyway. My aunt came and said, “Is that your fancywork?” I loved it. I still call it embroidery, but to myself, I think, “fancywork.”
HI Marilyn,
I did try the ace bandage and it did seem to help support my foot more. I do think I need the boot type to keep my foot from moving around.
I guess even with your arm all bandaged up, nothing was going to stop you from doing what you enjoyed doing… I’m trying to keep that attitude.
A dear friend brought me some yellow daisies today and down in the bottom of the bag was chocolates, apple cider tea, a single cupcake with sprinkles, some gum and a sweet card! It was a pick me up!!!
Thanks for your thoughts Marilyn…
Blessings, Jeanne
