You chose Brown for Ten Ping’s dress, so here it is… “almost” finished…

When I showed you the choices of fabric for Ten Ping in a post a few days ago (HERE) I almost regretted not putting a bright one in the mix, because I got to thinking that Ten Ping was probably a “winter” skin tone and she’d look best in the jewel tone colors… hot pink, royal blue, purples, deep green, etc…But given the choices, the majority of you chose the small brown print and even though I picked it from my fabric shelf first, I wasn’t sure she’d look great in it… WRONG! She looks adorable and I couldn’t wait to show you. I’m not completely finished with it, but I have enough done that I wanted to share it with you. The next time you see it, it will be all done and hopefully listed on Ebay for some little Ten Ping out there to own for herself!

See if you don’t agree that she looks very pretty in this brown print. I just remembered “winter” skin tones CAN wear chocolate brown… so maybe that’s why Ten Ping looks so adorable…

These are some of the tiniest little thigh highs you’ve probably ever seen…

I made her hat out of the same Ultrasuede as her tiny Mary Janes…

I didn’t forget about your questions… a few of them were “worthy” of writing a post so I’ve got them printed off and am working on them and will get those answered ASAP!

Thanks everyone, and enjoy your weekend!

If you’d like your very own 8″ Ten Ping, or her friend Gigi, why don’t you hop over to Lone Star Dolls in Texas (HERE) and look around. Dale will be glad to help you out if you decide you want a doll. Ten Ping is made by Ruby Red Galleria.

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

The chocolate color was a great choice. The red hat and shoes accessorize it perfectly. I went back and reviewed all 4 fabrics and decided that Ten-Ping needs dresses from all 4 and 3 more pairs of red shoes. Maybe you could embroider some. It would be very traditional. I love thinking of ways to add work to your life.

I would not have guessed that a market basket would the the perfect thing for Josefina’s new dress. It gives it the extra zing I would have sworn it didn’t need. I also really like the hair concho. The brown shoe ties were another excellent choice — they nearly disappear in the full length photo, but I think the use of a different color adds a subtle but almost needed touch. Josefina didn’t live in a world of endless choices — this would have been something that would work that turned out to work better than expected. Like the market basket, it gives the set a real-world touch.

I got to go to the mountains today — wonderful weather and wonderful scenery. Then I got home and found that you’d had wonderful ideas. That a nice day.

    1. hi Marilyn,
Yes, I’d say you’re pretty good at planning things out for me to do, but I do like the idea of embroidering little flowers on the shoes. maybe not this time but at least in the future.
Maybe those fabrics will be in Ten Ping’s future….who knows…
I’m glad you think Josefina’s dress set was the right combination of color and accessories… I liked the basket as soon as I saw it.
I hope you had a nice visit to the mountains. It sounds like a lovely place to visit.

I agree that Ten Ping might not normally look at her very best in brown however, the deep tone of this brown coupled with the rosy red hat & shoes adds that pop of color she needs. She is indeed a “winter” and will look stunning in all the colors of that season. Yet back in the days of “Color Me Perfect” we always said that children can easily wear all colors. I would love to see her in evergreen and berry red. Hhmmmm……… Christmas !!!!

    1. Hi Jeannie,
I am very happy at how she looks in this brown dress. I thought it might be too drab for her, but I really think it looks very rich on her.
I think you’re right about children wearing most any color. I’ll have to look through my tiniest Christmas prints and save one or two for her…
      Thanks Jeannie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Love the dress, and the thigh highs really give it a finished look. I was thinking socks, but I like the look of tights better. I can just hear her saying, when are you going to let me keep a dress?

    1. Thank you Joy,
Ten Ping’s already been telling me she wants to keep this dress… eep!
Somehow I’ll have to break it to her that she can’t…
Thanks for your compliments on the set…

    1. Thank you Regina,
I appreciate your comment on Ten Ping’s dress… I just finished it so now to get it listed on Ebay…

  4. The dress is really cute, and the tights with those little red shoes are the perfect touch! Brown tones can be tricky because they can have warm or cool undertones, but the “cool” browns work well with winter skin tones. It does look nice on Ten Ping, so she just may be a “winter”.

    1. Thank you Carolyn,
I appreciate your kind comments and whether she’s a winter or not, I think she looks pretty cute in this color brown! I’m a winter myself, so I know about those brown undertones too!
      Thanks for your compliments!

  5. Goodness, Jeanne, I have been gone all day and now the Cards-Cubs game is about to start! I thought I wrote this morning, but apparently I didn’t! I love Ten Ping’s outfit! The little hat really jazzes it up, and the shoes are first class! I also love the lace stockings you put on her. Good job on this one, although you hardly need to hear that!!

    1. Thanks Linda,
I saw the game was tonight, but it must be on cable, and not on regular TV… :o(
Send me an update every so often through my email account if it’s ever a lull in the game. I’ll check my phone and see what’s happening.
Thanks for your sweet compliments on Ten Ping’s dress set. I really like this one too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

I just Love that little dress!! And I’m not even a “brown person”! It turned out so beautifully!

Did you make her little thigh-high lace stockings? They had such a nice touch.

    Charlotte
