I am out of town for a first time ever “girls week” with my sisters and mom and will be back next week. We decided it was high time we had a week filled with nothing but “girly stuff” to do. I’m not sure what’s on the agenda but I’m sure we’ll have a blast no matter what it is.
I’ve been doing double duty getting my posts all written and scheduled while I’m gone, so just because I’m out of town, don’t think you need to stay away. I’ve got plenty of good things to share with you! I’ll be checking in each day too, and hope to answer your comments.
Before I show you this recipe, I have to show you this adorable picture. If you’ve read my blog for any length of time, you know about Sara, my little Columbian friend who is “seamstress/knitter extraordinaire!” Well, one of my subscribers, Kathleen, sent me some glasses for Sara’s new American Girl doll that Magalie gave her. Sara’s mom just sent me a picture of them together… what a set of cuties, don’t you think?
First up, is a very fun recipe! I laugh every time I see my pictures. It’s super simple and would be a great activity to do with your kids or grand kids. There are only 3 things you need…maybe 4 if you want. I didn’t take any pictures along the way as I had peanut butter all over my fingers… but it’s pretty easy to see what to do.
(I got this idea from my Kroger flyer and hadn’t looked on Pinterest to see if they were on there too. Yep, they are all over Pinterest. My hubby thought I better acknowledge Kroger as my source!)
Here’s what we’re making… “TEETH” or maybe “Vampire TEETH” if you like.
It’s so simple…
Take a red apple… I used Honey Crisp apples… because of their pretty red color…and great taste! Cut them in wedges and dip in Lemon Juice if you are needing to keep them for any length of time. We ate ours right away, so I didn’t use the lemon juice… It keeps the apples from turning
brownish.
I dried my apple wedges on a paper towel so the peanut butter would stick better.
Use a creamy PEANUT BUTTER and spread a layer of it on one side of your wedges.
Then add a row of miniature marshmallows across the bottom wedge so it looks like a row of teeth. Add the top apple slice with the peanut butter on it on the top of your marshmallows. It looks just like a set of lips and teeth!
Reuben was pretty curious at this plate of “teeth” but then again, he’s pretty curious at just about anything.
You can add sliced almonds if you wanted to make Vampire Teeth, and Rebecca found a piece of dried pineapple in some trail mix for a “rotten” looking tooth. We tried to think of something edible that was gold for a gold tooth, but came up empty handed with the gold idea. I said maybe a raisin or a chocolate dipped marshmallow for a “missing” tooth.
Anyway, this is just simple and really fun to make and I will guarantee you’ll be laughing the whole time you’re making them…
This is one recipe that really puts a smile on your face!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, that is just the BEST fun thing to do with my grandchildren!! At least it is NOT something that is chocolate, and only heaven knows they will get enough of that for Halloween! I’m going to take that idea out to Denver when we are there for Halloween to visit our son and his family—-3 little boys! What fun that will be for the ones here in town too, when they visit to get their Halloween treats!
Thank you so much, and you have a great girlie time with your sisters and mom!
Jeanne, I forgot to add that Sara and her doll look perfectly adorable together! Why, they look like sisters! What name did she give the doll?
And that Rueben is just the cutest little puppy, so full of life and mischief!! I bet he keeps the two of you young—-then again maybe not!!! :-/
As I recall, Jeanne said that Sara named her doll Maggie, after Magalie, who gave te doll to her. I can’t remember if she chose a middle name–might have been Jeanne.
Good thing I have all the ingredients in my pantry. Looks like we have something fun to try!! I’m already up and can’t wait for you to get here! Love you and see you soon!!!
I hope that you have a wonderful time with your mom and sisters.
Love the picture with Reuben and the teeth. You do know that dogs love peanut butter!!?
Our sweet Collie Mix loved apples as well. If you held a slice in your mouth she would come up and take it oh so gently with just a brush against your cheek.
Hi Jeanne,
I love the photo of Sara and her AG in matching glasses, so sweet. It is wonderful seeing a little girl who loves her doll so much. It brings back so many happy memories; I LOVED my dolls too (… and still do, for that matter 🙂 ).
Did you give Reuben one? He looks very hungry! Ha ha! I think I saw these on Pinterest too, but you are being even more creative with them. Cute!
Have a great visit!
Those apple teeth are hysterical! Definitely put a smile on Rueben’s face. Oh, just one please!!
What a keeper picture of Sara & dolly friend. She can look back at that one when she has kids of her own and share.
Sara and her AG look super sweet! Love the matching glasses. The “Smiles” just the perfect snack…the G-kids will love it!
Have a great week…can’t wait to see what all you do together.
