Last night I left you with a few pictures of fabric draped on Josefina and you’ve had all day to wonder what her dress might look like…
Well, this is what I started with… so let’s see what I came up with from these pieces…
I wanted to do a peasant type dress only make it a little more fitted and with a big ruffle at the neck. So far I’ve finished the ruffle and I found a vintage lace trim in my stash that I added. The waist is going to have a band so it will be a little more form fitting on Josefina. The skirt will be slightly gathered with a bit of a flare and I’ll probably add more lace trim to it…
There’s a little bit of a puffed sleeve under the ruffle.
I don’t know of anything on my schedule for Monday, so I’m hoping to get this finished up… the hardest part is already done.
Amma’s phone took better pictures of the Sari, so I’m waiting on her pictures to show you…
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
That is just so pretty on Josefina, Jeanne! I love the ruffle around the neckline, just like so many of the outfits were when I was small! I like the way the puffed sleeves pouf up the ruffle. It also looks very Mexican, which Josefina is!
At first, I couldn’t figure out what those little yellow dots were around the waistline, but then figured it out—pins! Can’t wait to see it finished!
HI Linda,
Thanks for the compliments on Josefina’s dress. She does look very pretty in this color.
I have the skirt on now, so those “little yellows dots” are all gone! :o)
Did you get Felicity’s dress finished?
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, don’t laugh, but no, it is NOT finished yet! The petticoat is finished and all I really have to do is the hand sewing all around the edges of the dress, but I am changing a few things, plus I have had too many other things going on, and don’t really have a permanent place to sew, so everything has to be taken out, and my kitchen table is used for sewing, which is kind of inconvenient for me to sew for any length of time. I’m sure if I had a sewing room, it could probably be done by now!
I’ve always loved Josefina’s style, so seeing your creations on her is an extra treat, Jeanne. So far, so beautiful!
Looking forward to the finished ensemble. Hope you can get lots accomplished today!
Have a great Monday.
Thanks Cindy,
Well, it’s 2:45 and so far I haven’t made it into my sewing room yet! I had one birthday present to deliver, one to make and then I had to do an “activity” for a future blog post that I needed to schedule… but hopefully soon I’ll be in my room working on Josefina’s dress again.
I’m hoping you’re getting lots accomplished too!
Blessings, Jeanne
What a pretty color on Josefina, Jeanne, and a perfect match for her shoes. I really like the ruffle at the neck.
HI Jevne,
Thanks for your kind words about Josefina’s dress set. I do like her new moccasins with this dress fabric too!
Blessings, Jeanne
Lately whenever I post a comment I have to fill in my name and email address. Below that it asks for website, but if I type that in I get a message that I didn’t leave a comment. This is one of the messages I got this morning, perhaps on my second or third try.
The url is ok https://www.idreamofjeannemarie.com/wp-comments-post.php the header says “WordPress>Error” instead of “GJosefina’s dress is looking:
Then I get a blank page except for this message.
ERROR: please fill the required fields (name, email).
I think I used to just leave a comment, not have to fill in my name, etc. Maybe I’ve been dropped from the list? Does anyone else have this problem? Is it just that I’ve forgotten how to do this???? I am getting older and more forgetful. : -)
Jevne
Jevne, I’m not Jeanne, but I want to say that usually I do need to type in my name and email address because the spaces are blank, but NEVER give any website information, whatever that is for. Sometimes my name and email address are already there, and I can just go one and type my message, sometimes it isn’t. Maybe Jeanne isn’t aware of your problem.
Linda
HI Linda,
I didn’t know everyone had to type in their name and email address each time they left a comment. I know I’ve left some comments on other blogs and have to type in my info again, but I thought that was because I’m not a subscriber to their blog… hmmm… I’ll have to investigate this…
Thanks for letting me know…
Blessings, Jeanne
HI Jevne,
I double checked to see if you had been accidentally dropped from my mailing list but you are still there… just as when you signed up in August of 2014. I’m not sure why you have to type in things again… but I think when I visit other blogs I have to sign in too, so maybe everyone has to do that.
Maybe Cindy Rice knows… she’s good at this kind of stuff…
I’ll let you know if I find out anything too…
Blessings, Jeanne
I love the beauty of the simplicity of Josefina’s dresses. Just love this.
A question for you that I’ve been wondering about. Is your name pronounced JEAN or
JEAN-NEE?
HI Anna,
Thanks for your kind compliments on Josefina’s dress. I think she looks so pretty in this fabric.
My name is pronounced like Jean -knee. So now you know!
Thanks Anna,
Blessings, Jeanne
I love Josefina and the dress looks adorable on her. Those red moccasins are great too!
Thank you Carolyn,
I’ve got some tan Ultrasuede, so I’ll be able to replace Josefina’s brownish moccasins with a new pair one of these days.
Thanks so much for your comments….
Blessings, Jeanne
Can’t go wrong with red on her beautiful skin. Such a good color match for her shoes too!
I’m sure the Sari was so pretty. Looking forward to the pictures for sure!
Have a good week!
HI Kathie,
Yes, Josefina does look very pretty with this color of fabric next to her skin. I need to look back and see what else I made from this fabric… I know it was something recently, but I can’t quite think of what it was…
Yes, Amma and the other girls in their Sari’s looked beautiful… I’ll share when I get her pics.
Blessings, Jeanne
It’s hard to believe that this lovely Josefina is the one you bought. Aren’t you proud of her? Is this the strawberry-banana jello color you talked about several months ago? It’s lovely on Josefina.
I do think you are having too easy a time on the moccasins. Maybe you could bead them to add a challenge.
HI Marilyn,
It’s so funny how this Josefina is so much easier to photograph than my other one was. I hope it stays this way! Yes, I was just trying to remember what else I had made out of this “strawberry-banana jello” fabric, but I’m drawing a blank…I’ll have to go and check.
These moccasins were a breeze compared to the boots and little Ten Ping’s shoes… I could make these all day! Oh I like your idea of beading them… thanks!
Blessings, Jeanne
I was just being evil and wicked, suggesting beading to make more work for you, and you so nicely took me up on it. Evil cannot stick to truly good people. No doubt you’ll bead a beautiful pair of moccasins, and we’ll all love them.
By the way, my name and email come up automatically on your blog.
