Well, if you didn’t know it, I’m coming home today!!! I’ve been away at my sisters house for a week now as we’ve been having a “Girl’s Week” with my mom, myself and my 2 sisters. This is the first time we’ve ever done this. I left last Thursday but worked like the dickens to get extra posts written up ahead of time and scheduled so you didn’t have to drink your coffee in the mornings without me! :o) The plan was to make it appear like I was here behind my computer writing away every day just like normal. Well, let me tell you, I am just about “posted” out! (These last 9 posts were all written before Oct. 13th.)
I wanted to show you what’s up next and what will be happening from now till Christmas. I am making one last Regency dress in this blue fabric called Bluebell. I’m sure with Elizabeth’s blue eyes, she’ll talk me into letting her model it.
I had this beautiful dainty lace that I thought would mimic the design in the fabric…doesn’t it? (Oh and if you look closely, you’ll see a sweet cursive “E” in the lace design repeated over and over… definitely destined to be an Elizabeth dress!)
I promise you I won’t make an off the shoulder Regency dress!
After I make it I am going to turn my attention to Christmas dresses. I always run out of time, so I’m hoping to have enough time to get everyone a dress made…maybe even two!
I drew names to see what order the dolls will model their Christmas dresses. Here’s how they came out:
Patsy Tonner & Elin Iplehouse (They can share the same dress size)
Molly
Nyssa / Hope
Eden (She’s my 50’s girl)
Ten Ping
My Effner Little Darlings, Isabelle, Janie and Lian
Felicity
Josefina
Julie
Elizabeth (She’ll represent the Regency era)
Kirsten
Rebecca (She’ll represent the early 1900’s)
Saige
Ellowyne
My blonde #27 (She’ll be in a modern Christmas dress)
So I hope your favorite isn’t too far down on the list…
See you tomorrow, back at my desk for real!!!
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, that will be a spectacular dress for Elizabeth, Jeanne! I absolutely love that lace!! Do you have a pattern for the dress, or do you just make it up?
Glad to hear you had a wonderful time with your sisters and mom! You will remember this trip forever! I hope George and Rueben aren’t missing you TOO much, but I’m pretty sure they are!!
I see Molly is right there almost at the top of the list!
Hi Linda… I’m back home and it feels so good to see my hubby and Rebecca again… Reuben too.
I have a basic pattern for the regency dress that I tend to use over and over, but how I embellish them is always a mystery to me until I get part of the dress constructed.
We had so much fun and are already talking about the trip to Gettysburg, PA next year… So we’ll see… I’ll share more later…
Thanks for all your comments this past week Linda.
Blessings, Jeanne
So happy that you will be home soon. You might just need a rest from your vacation with all the girls!
Elizabeth will be beautiful in her “Blue Bells” regency dress. Those eyes are quite vibrant with that fabric. How could you not use Elizabeth !
Your list for Christmas is quite ambitious. A dress or two for each girl. WOW – If I get two made I will be lucky. I was happy to see Molly near the top of your list. That will be extra special fun for me.
My Christmas sewing has begun in earnest here. I was asked by the little Butterflies to make them gowns for their AG dolls. Their favorite movie is Frozen so that will be the theme. I have four dresses cut out and one is under the sewing machine now. My plan is to finish as many of the four as I can and wrap them up as a joint gift. The girls will have to share them equally. I hope that works out with little arguing. They really are pretty good with sharing. I also have some knitting of warm hats to complete for family who live in the north country. Nice tight wool hats to keep out the wind and cold of the winter.
Hi Jeannie,
What a nice week it has been with all of you ladies commenting. Thank you for yours Jeannie!
I thought of Elizabeth when I saw that fabric…and was pretty sure she’d get to model it.
Well, I am hoping it’s not just an ambitious list but a realistic one as well.
I hope you get the girls doll dresses finished…they will be thrilled. Is the older one (Bethany?) still sewing?
You know I’ll want to see them when you get them finished.
Blessings, Jeanne
Welcome home! I’m glad you had a lovely trip and I hope it becomes a tradition. I’m looking forward to hearing about your adventures.
Now you are going to be so busy sewing and we are going to have such a nice time seeing the outfits you make for our favorites.
Now pour a cup of coffee, catch your breath, and write to us.
Hi Marilyn,
Thanks for Ll your comments this week too. I read everyone’s as I walked in antique shops, in the bathrooms, during walks to the car, in the car on the way to somewhere, etc. you all kept me quite busy just reading.
I will share some things about my trip…but we are heading out tonight to celebrate Kritoffers birthday.
After I shared that I was going to try Nd make each girl. Dress, I thought, oh no, it has to be the “perfect” dress for each doll…so everyone will love it. I hope I’m successful at picking the right dress for eCh one.
Thanks for the kind words to me, Marilyn…I appreciate them.
Blessings, Jeanne
I am glad you had a wonderful time with your mom and your sisters. You will have to share all about it and if you bought anything fun dollwise or other.
Elizabeth will look lovely in her “Bluebelle” dress. She will certainly be the belle of any Christmas ball.
Wow, that’s a tall order, fifteen Christmas dresses. before Christmas. I will be so much fun for all off us the see a new creation very often and it will certainly keep you busy.
Hi Laura,
We really did have a fun time and shed tears this morning as we went our separate ways… I have a wonderful family!!!! I truly do!
I hadn’t actually counted up the doll dresses to make…yikes…should I be scared??? No, just get busy…
Thanks Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
I enjoyed and read your posts every day while you were gone, Jeanne. Thank you for taking the time to write these for us; I know it was time consuming.
I look forward to seeing your new dresses. I hope they roll out of the sewing machine at a rapid pace, so you can get lots made and we can enjoy lots of photos.
Welcome home!
Thank you Cindy,
I read your posts too…on the way to things, in bathrooms, in the car, etc… You are the one who inspired me to get started on Christmas things soon… I always love seeing YOUR Christmas creations.
Thank you for the nice welcome home, Cindy!
Blessings, Jeanne
You have a long list waiting for Christmas dresses, Jeanne, sounds like sewing 24/7!
I am so happy that you had a week with your mom and sisters. Life is about making memories and I’m sure that week will be one of your best.\
I realize that a post each and every day is a goal you set for yourself, but we would be happy each and every day that you’re at home, not that we didn’t enjoy the postings you had scheduled.
I am, and I’m certain everyone else, ESPECIALLY DH, is happy that you’re home safely.
Hi Jevne,
Thank you for your sweet comments and welcoming me home. It does feel good to be in my house and I am all inspired to do some home projects as well as “all” those dresses I have committed to. I need to do a little math Nd see how often I need to turn one out in order to get through my list….
Thanks Jevne,
Blessings, Jeanne
Your away posts have been great! Can’t wait to see the next dress. Love that blue fabric. Any neat “finds” while on your adventure?
Hi Joy,
Thank you for reading my blog each day.
Well, I was supposed to be on a spending freeze, but I had to break the rules for this out of town trip, and give in just a little bit…
Blessings, Jeanne
Did you go to the tea shop with the great desserts? Nice to be home I’m sure and starting on your Christmas sewing.
Hi jan, yes, we DID go to the Springcreek Tea Room in Ozark, MO and yes, we had dessert!!
We are celebrating my sons birthday tonight, bit tomorrow I will be in my sewing room.
Thanks so much Jan,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hope we get to see some pics of the “Girls Week” later. The list of Christmas dresses makes me think I better get busy thinking Christmas too!
I’m sure your own bed feels great…
Have fun matching up dollies…fabrics…laces and trims!
Thanks Kathie,
I don’t have very many pictures to share but I can tell about it…
Yep…it’s time for Christmas dtrssrs! Hope you get you done..
Thanks for the hankors too. That was fun to come home to.
Blessings, Jeanne
I’m so glad you got to spend “girl” time with your mom and sisters. I have always envied women with sisters as I never had one, but I do have daughters and love spending time with them. The regency dress is going to be beautiful–that’s a really nice shade of blue, and of course the lace will be gorgeous. I can’t wait to see the finished dress. I need to get started on some Christmas sewing also, bit it’s hard to get in the mood for Christmas when it’s 80 degrees outside!
Hi Carolyn,
I’m glad you have daughters since you don’t have sisters… We really did have a good time doing just about everything you could think of.
I’m getting a little anxious to get the regency dress finished so I can start on the Christmas dresses…but I’m like you….the weather is so nice out right now…it’s hard to think about Christmas dresses…
Thanks so much!
Blessings, Jeanne
