Today has been a really long day with only a few minutes til midnight, Sunday night, and I’m just now getting to my blog post for tomorrow. I know it’s Labor Day and there will be lots of picnics and get together’s and family reunions, so I won’t keep you long today. I hope you all have a safe and fun day with your loved ones. (I’m sorry but this holiday I don’t have a quiz or a questionnaire to stump you…aren’t you glad?)
My weekend started on Friday when my hubby took me away for 2 days for our 34th Anniversary. We went to a 100 mile yard sale on Friday and then on Saturday he took me shopping, I say he took me because he truly did… I got to go to 3 different fabric stores and let me tell you I had a lot of fun looking…but he was anxious, and I was anxious too, for him to make it to the Harbor Freight Tool store, so I hurried…as fast as one can in a fabric store…
I intended to show you some of my goodies I found and bought along the way, but my brother and his family came down this weekend too, so I spent the afternoon and evening with them instead of taking pictures of what I found. I’ll try to get that done for tomorrow’s post. We had a really nice visit and talked about everything under the sun.
My brother is a computer whiz and he showed me something I wanted to pass along to you. It is something so neat you could very easily use it for Christmas gifts…oh, it would be wonderful for that!
It’s an app for your iphone or ipad that you can turn any photo into a water color looking painting. For only $2.99 a picture!! I was so impressed I wanted to share it with you and give you a few examples of it. You can find the information about the app called Waterlogue, HERE.
Here is a sample of what it can do…
You may remember little Bobby T from the wedding…
[If you click on any picture, it will enlarge.]
…and here is he watercolor rendering…
This is Nora, one of the little flower girls I made dresses for…
Here is her daddy holding her…
Then my brother asked me to send him a picture of one of my doll dresses… since Isabelle’s dress was bright red plaid, I thought it might turn out nicely…
The pictures actually look better when you aren’t looking at them from 20 inches… they need to be back a bit farther to really see the watercolor effects. Anyway, I thought it was worth passing along and hope it’s something that might work for you… I’m thinking of doing one of Reuben for my hubby for Christmas!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
That is amazing, Jeanne! As a person who majored in art and took advanced watercolor courses in college, I am so impressed with the way those photos turned out! Watercolor is VERY difficult medium because of the uncertain quality of the water in the paints, and you have to really concentrate on what you are doing to get it right. I actually love watercolor and impressionist paintings over photographs. This might be something to get. Thanks for showing it to us!
HI Linda,
I know…aren’t they fun to look at? My sister is an artist too, and she said they were just the neatest things too!
I thought it was just too great to keep just to myself.
Thanks,
Blessings, Jeanne
LOVE it, Jeanne!! Thanks so much for sharing that with us. I’m going to try it out 🙂 I hope you have a nice day today. Nothing going on here…hubby is in Montana..went up that way on a run (he drives hot shots now that he’s retired from the railroad)…but is getting to spend a couple days with my elderly aunt and our granddaughter. I’m so jealous. Can’t wait to see pictures of all the things you found at the 100 mile yard sale and the fabric stores 🙂
Love and blessings!
Bobi
HI Bobi,
I’m glad you liked the watercolor app and I hope if you try it out, you like the results. I think they would make terrific gifts…
It sounds like you might be all alone, but I hope you get to do some things you can do only when you’re by yourself…
I’ll be showing my things…
Blessings, Jeanne
How cool is that!!!!! I love watercolors and there are some photos in my mind that would be great gifts!! Thank you for sharing. Excellent idea.
Can’t wait to see what goodies you found on your little trip.
Have a great day!
Blessings!
HI Paula,
I’m glad you liked the post today too! I think it’s so cool how they turn out. When my brother first sent me the picture of his littlest boy, I thought he had really painted it himself… it looks really good in small size and then far away in the bigger size.
Thanks Paula,
I hope you’re having a nice day,
Blessings, Jeanne
Thank you for this information.. George may find snow along the way. We sure need rain in N. VA. and snow would never find us this time of,year. Look forward to the photos of your finds.
Thanks Jan,
I hope it’s something you can use in the future and I hope the rain finds you soon!
Blessings, Jeanne
This Water coloring is great. It comes out so pretty. Just like an oil painting.
Great job and thanks for sharing! Sylvia
Hi Sylvia,
Isn’t this a fun thing to try out? I think I will give some as Christmas presents.
Thanks Sylvia,
Blessings, Jeanne
