I’m hoping all good things come to those who wait! Everyone has certainly been patient while I was working on Felicity’s Colonial dress. I can’t tell you the interruptions I had when trying to get it finished. BUT… it is finally finished and listed on Ebay… (HERE)
I am so thrilled with this new (used) Felicity doll. No wonky eyes and no dry, straw-like hair. It was a real treat for me to take pictures of her and not have to worry about the angle I was shooting from to make sure her eyes didn’t look weird… I think she has a very pretty face and I am glad after all that waiting and searching and combing through many many Felicity dolls on Ebay, that I picked her to come live with me.
The green and brick colored print fabric that you all voted on for her to wear for her first dress, couldn’t have been any better. It showcases her beautiful green eyes like no other fabric probably could have done.
[If you click on any picture it will enlarge.]
I’ll show you some close ups that weren’t mentioned in my listing on Ebay…
Take a good closeup look at the necklace Rebecca made for this dress. I think it’s really lovely. (It’s fun to have a live-in-doll-necklace-maker in the house!)
Here are the mother of pearl buttons on the back of the sash…I hope you can see the detail in them.
Also I was just playing around when I was dressing her and I suppose you could wear the sash backwards if you like. The buttons would be in the front this way…
Here is a really closeup shot of the straw hat…
The dress is about an inch off the floor… a little more on the sides as it flares out over her hips…
Here is a full shot of the petticoat out from under the dress…
To all of you who chose this fabric for Felicity’s dress…Thanks! She likes it, I like it, and I hope you like it too!
BONUS: Now something just for my subscribers… if one of my subscribers wins this dress, I’ll make a pair of pantalettes to go under her petticoat! How’s that?
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Congratulations! That was worth waiting for. Those are beautiful pictures of a beautiful doll in a wonderful outfit. I especially love the way the fabric in the cap echoes the flowers in the dress. Rebecca’s necklace is perfect. I am so glad you decided to make the hat — I think your choice of trim is exactly right.
I didn’t mention yesterday that I do appreciate the the detailed perfect pleater instructions. The yoke on the skirt allows the pleats to hang the way they should. Considering the bow making instructions, I’m not sure that a film would be better than the step by step instructions with some instructions on the pictures method that you used for the pleater.
Now — the new question of the hour — whose turn is it next for a new dress?
I’m off to put Felicity’s dress on my watch list so that I can enjoy it a lot during the next few days.
HI Marilyn,
I was working at the Food Pantry today so I’m just now getting to your comments…
First off… Marilyn, WHAT are you doing up at 3:25? Too excited to see Felicity’s dress??? Just kidding!
I love your comments…thank you so much!
Who’s next… Well, I HAVE to get Ten Ping’s dress on there…as soon as I get these shoes mastered…
Then I have a Julie dress… remember the pink paisley one… well, the buyer never paid and Ebay made me wait 10 days to see for sure that she wasn’t going to, before I could cancel the order. So Julie’s dress has got to be listed.
Which brings me to who’s next… well, I wanted it to be Josefina, but I found something for the Little Darlings and I have to get it ready to go with a dress… it will be a fun one!
Thanks Marilyn, I hope you got a nap today!
Blessings, Jeanne
Wow, Jeanne, that outfit is just gorgeous!! Who wouldn’t want a dress like that? I love the colors that go so well with her hair and eyes. When you look at it, it really is a simple dress, but all the things you have added make it so special looking, from the hats to the petticoat, the belt, sleeves and the beautiful necklace!
I do notice that your new Felicity photographs so much better and is more fresh and new looking. She has the prettiest face, which certainly makes a difference in your close-up shots.
Thanks for your very kind compliments Linda. Felicity is smiling now! She LOVES compliments! Yes, it’s simple but it sure did take a long time to get completed…
Yes, the difference in photographing her and my other Felicity’s is like night and day. She really does have a pretty face. I’m so happy to have her in my collection…
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
You have done a great job with this dress. It is just beautiful. Love the necklace that Rebecca made.
She is as artistic as her mom. Great combination!!!!!
Thank you Sylvia,
I’m happy that everyone likes her dress… and yes, Rebecca is quite talented… I told her she can never get married and move away!!
Blessings, Jeanne
Felicity looks gorgeous! I love your attention to detail! Now you really make me want to sew for the dolls again! Looking at the pictures and accessories reminded me of all the fun I had creating my original designs twenty years ago.
You did an exquisite job on Felicity’s first ensemble!
Come on Beth, put those quilts away for a while and get out your dollies and play with us! It’s more fun than you remember!
Thanks for your very sweet comments about Felicity’s dress.
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,
Felicity’s dress is beautiful! I love the fabric, the style, her accessories and her necklace. You made a magnificent dress. The colors are beautiful together.
Still looking for a Felicity and I’m sure someday I’ll find the right one.
I am anxious too to know who gets the next dress you make. My guess is one for Isabelle and her 2 friends?
You are an artist as well as Rebecca is one too. To put all the finishing touches on these gorgeous and darling outfits is incredible. I consider the outfits I’ve gotten from you as my most special collection. Of course, having our doll collections help!
Have a wonderful day Jeanne. Hugs!
HI Paula,
Thank you so much for your kind compliments on Felicity’s dress. I think she looks very pretty in it. I hope you find your Felicity soon. It does take time to look at each one and make sure she has all the features you want.
I think one of my Little Darlings will be next… I found a prop and I’m anxious to use it. But I have to get Ten Ping’s dress listed first… gotta get those shoes finished…
Thank you so much, Paula, the compliments to me and Rebecca. She is a big part of what makes my doll outfits look so nice. Jewelry always helps!!!
Blessings, Jeanne
Gorgeous, Jeanne, as always. That makes me want to get my white body Felicity out and fix her limbs so I can sew for her. This time period has never been my favorite, but seeing what you do with it is so inspiring. Hmmm, maybe I’ll have a change of mind!
Oh, I just looked at my Felicity and she’s not a white body — she was the first doll to come with the tan body. I remember that now. She was purchased in 1991. When I looked at your pictures on Ebay I thought about that when I saw the skin showing at the neckline.
HI Anna,
By all means, get your Felicity doll out and find some clothes to put on her! Enjoy her company and looking at her! You have a treasure there… keep her in view!
Thanks Anna,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,
Felicity looks spectacular in that dress. I was one who chose that fabric as well. I just knew it would look so pretty with her copper hair and green eyes. The straw hat with lace cap underneath is perfect. I love the details on the hat and the lace sleeve cuffs with ribbons are beautiful. As always, Rebecca’s necklace adds the final touch. She looks all ready for an autumn outing of apple picking.
I always thought the PC/AG missed not adding more greens and reds to her wardrobe. I also love Felicity in brown. I’m so glad you are pleased with her. I really must get my 1991 Felicity her autumn dress made, but like you, other responsibilities keep getting in the way. I hope that Felicity makes it onto your cutting table often. I always wondered why AG chose to retire her as her collection was elegant and the doll was just the prettiest.
HI Laura,
I do believe Felicity has earned her spot on my cutting table and I hope to sew for her as often as I can…even if the other girls do give me the “evil eye!” I love her in this fabric and I too, am glad that it was chosen as the winner!
I thought Felicity was one of the most popular dolls and I never understood retiring her either.
Blessings, Jeanne
The fabric is perfect with the red trim. Love it. I think it is a year around dress. So many holidays/seasons where it can be worn.
Thank you Joy… you’re right… it’s a pretty versatile dress… Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day, maybe even Valentine’s Day. and of course anything or anytime in the Fall. Yes, you’re right…an all year dress!
Blessings, Jeanne
I could not be so lucky to win another prize after the last one, could I? A gorgeous outfit!
HI Jan,
Well, if the bid is right, you might be the winner of this dress for your Felicity doll. Someone’s going to win it… might as well be you!
Thank you for your kind words about it.
Blessings, Jeanne
You have certainly chosen the right colors for Felicity, Jeanne. With her red hair and green eyes her outfit matches perfectly. Good job, love the snood ( ?) under her bonnet.
Hi Jevne,
Is it my imagination or have you been “missing in action” the last few days??? Just wondering…
Yes, doesn’t this fabric match her eyes just perfectly?
The “snood” was actually called a “round eared cap” in Colonial times… Sometimes they had flaps on them and tied under the chin. Some were worn to bed…
Thanks Jevne,
Blessings, Jeanne
Could that fabric look any better? Just perfect for her coloring and she’s pleased as punch all dolled up with the snood( which I LOVE) and hat. That cummerbund just sets it off and makes the red really pop. Her hairstyle is just what that dress needed too…
good Luck…it’s wonderful!
Thank you Kathie,
It’s so nice to hear that everyone likes the dress! Thanks for all of you who voted for this fabric.
I think Felicity is very pleased with her first dress from me. I hope she sticks around for a long time.
I appreciate your kind comments Kathie,
Blessings, Jeanne
That outfit is absolutely gorgeous! I think the hat may be my favorite part, but I love all of it and your pretty Felicity too! 🙂
Thanks so much Melody.
I’m a little partial to the hat too! I think it makes the outfit!
I appreciate your sweet comments and thanks for liking my new Felicity too!
Blessings, Jeanne
