I was very busy today, trying to get an order finished up for a lady who asked a LONG time ago for some panties and a few slips. She was VERY patient and worked with me as I did little bits on her order every so often. Well, the order grew a little bit and turned into quite a lot of tulle and lace being sewn up. I guess it’s hard to find lace panties…mostly everything being offered is cotton knit panties. She didn’t want cotton, she wanted “pretty!”
The slips are different lengths…two of them are shorter and two are about tea length, but can be pulled down on her hips for a longer dress if need be. The nice thing about these slips is there is no bulk at the waistline…
I make crinolines like these to go under most of my Civil War dresses…They have boning in the bottom of them and really hold out the fuller dresses. She wanted two of them.
So I’m glad to be able to “check” this off of my “To Do” list and I’m sure she’s happier than I am…
They are listed in my Etsy shop (HERE) if you’d like to take a peek… Rebecca is also working on some new American Girl doll necklaces and we have some new Fall Skinny Scarves in the works.
Well, I’d say I got a lot accomplished today! I went to Walmart this evening and bought some conditioner and I’m going to wash Josefina’s hair tomorrow. I can’t wait to see what it looks like…hopefully all silky and shiny!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Loved your version of “Victoria’s Secret” today in dolly form, Jeanne! Oh, I love those pretty lace slips! Do you just make them on order, or will you have them in your shop for us to buy? They all seem to be sold already—and the price is right!
They will fit right in with 50’s dolls and the new Maryellen, but probably in a shorter version. Can’t wait for tomorrow when I go to see her!
HI Linda,
Thanks for liking my dolly “Victoria’s” pretties! It was actually fun making them and trying to come up with new and different ways to make them. I put that lace that Anita sent to good use, I think.
I am planning on making some for Maryellen… I just had to get this order done first. I’ll keep you posted…where and when they are listed…
Tomorrow is the big day isn’t it? Are you going first thing in the morning to the AG store? Have lots of fun and I want to know “details” when you comment next!
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
I must say, Jeanne, that you make the prettiest doll panties and slips. I can see why they sell so quickly.
Bravo to you for getting this checked off of your to do list.
Have a great Wednesday!
HI Cindy,
Thanks so much for the compliments on my dollies unmentionables… I AM glad to have that order finished!
I have to get my 1950’s dress finished… it’s getting there but still lots to do…
Did you see yesterday where Regina bought an Amelia Thimble… all because of you!
Blessings, Jeanne
Even dollies need pretty “unmentionables” and those are lovely. The Civil War slips are very pretty. Now you can get busy making crinolines for Maryellen.
🙂
Well, the doll I am interested in, believe it or not, is Marie-Grace. Have you ever considered her?? She came out before I started believing adults could have dolls and my daughter was in college and taking a break from collecting. I saw a catalog with her once.
I never thought I would be interested in her, but so many people on AGPT love her as is and customized that I gave her a second look. I would keep her as is. I have fallen in love with her eye color and hair color with the side tendrils. Everyone says photos don’t do her justice and you have to see her in person. I recently read her books and love her character as well. I have to like the book character, to like the doll even if I would put them in a different era. Apparently she looks better in anything AG DIDN’t make for her. I saw her in a few “Little Women” style dresses and lower neckline Civil War style and that did it. I’m on the hunt for a NIB one that is affordable.
HI Laura,
Yes, I do need to get busy with some slips for Maryellen… TODAY!
So Marie-Grace is your dream doll, huh? She doesn’t seem to appeal to me… in all the pictures I’ve seen of her, she seems to have the funniest looking face, but so many ladies just love her and have her down as their favorite sculpt…she must look differently in person…maybe she just photographs not so great…
I hope you find one that jumps out at you like Josefina did me…
Thanks Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,
I loved all the talk in yesterday’s blog about your new Josephine. Some of your readers really love the AMG dolls as I do. As you did with Felicity and Josephine, searching for the right doll is so much fun, then cleaning her up is the next bit of fun. It is like creating a perfect form of art, especially if she is wears or models “Jeanne Marie” outfits. The outfits (YOURS) are the final piece of art. I put a great deal of time in naming each doll too. The whole process is fun.
I am still looking for a Felicity and as you know that can take awhile to find the right one. I think you found the right Felicity and Josephine! Very pretty dolls. Can’t wait to see Josephine cleaned up and redressed.
Love, love love the under garments. All that netting, bows…right up a girl’s alley!!
Blessings,
Paula
HI Paula,
Thank you so much for all the compliments you interspersed in your comments. I appreciate them very much..
Yes, hunting for the right doll is fun and fixing her up is fun too. I’m going to wash and condition Josefina’s hair today and I’m going to condition Felicity’s again as well. As she’s sat on my shelf, her hair has gotten kind of limp like and flyaway.. I think it needs some deep conditioning to make it sort of stick together and not be so “fluffy!”
Thanks so much Paula,
I hope the knee is doing well… lots of time for sitting and playing with dolls, though…
Blessings, Jeanne
I have one of Rebecca’s necklaces in a Southwestern style. With your new Josefina, you’ll need a few of those to go with your Josefina outfits. I use mine with several Western outfits as well — when something just needs something else, this is often what it needs. Rebecca will be as busy as you are.
Hi Marilyn,
Rebecca just placed an order for lots of pearls to make some Maryellen necklaces… and some other things too. She’s got a full class load this semester, but I’m hoping to get some beading out of her…
Yes, I like her Josefina necklaces very much… I like all her necklaces in fact…
Blessings, Jeanne
