I told you I wouldn’t show Molly’s dress to you again until it was completely finished… Well, no pressure there! But I am happy to tell you I did get it finished and it’s listed on Ebay and it’s even gotten a bid already!
I decided to go with a black and white polka dotted corduroy beret for Molly’s hat. I looked at pictures of little girls wearing dresses and most of the time they just had ribbons in their hair but occasionally there was a picture of beret with a dress.
A red and black plaid was the perfect fabric for Molly’s book bag. It was sort of a busy print so I didn’t decorate it too much. I think I might need to find some miniature school supplies to put inside it for the winner.
Thinking her skirt could maybe use just a tiny bit of flare, I made a simple tulle slip.
Her socks are just made from a rib knit fabric that I had.
I think she’ll be all set for her first day of school, don’t you?
The auction can be seen by clicking on the picture of it at the right side bar or by clicking HERE.
After I finished listing Molly’s dress on Ebay, I started looking at the lace that Anita sent me and decided I’d make a slip “just for fun!” It turned out very sweet and Saige said she’d be happy to model it for me…
If you had a longer dress and wanted it to puff out more at the bottom, you can slide the slip down more on your dolls hips and it will hold out your longer fuller dress.
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
What a perfect school outfit , Jeanne! How I would have loved to wear that on the first day! The beret and bookbag are just adorable, and I love that petticoat! You can wear that with many other outfits, and I like the mix and match possibilities of the whole outfit, with other skirts, blouses and pants that the new owner might have. That’s a good way to stretch a wardrobe! You even made socks?? Amazing!
Oooh, that lace petticoat! So pretty, are you going to sell that and more in your Etsy shop?
I’ve got to get going on Felicity’s church dress. It’s cut and ready to sew, but I’m waiting for a rainy day, since there is much to do outside and I have to work around the weather.
HI Linda,
Well, my comments disappeared, so I’ll try again…
I thought you’d like Molly’s dress set, seeing how you LOVE Molly so much! I debated when I was first making this whether or not to make it all in one piece, but now I’m glad I didn’t. It will be fun for the winner to have a pretty white blouse that they can use separately with other things.
I couldn’t resist making a slip from Anita’s lace… I love the way it stands out… Yes, I will probably add them to my Etsy shop…
Have fun with your outside work… it looks like rain here today but so far we just have cloudy skies…
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
I think you could sell your beautiful slips by themselves, Jeanne, they are so pretty!
Well, Molly is looking all put together. I think it adds lots of interest when you add accessories that are a bit different than the dress, love them. I am in beret mode here too, although mine are knitted.
Have a happy day, Jeanne!
HI Cindy,
I think the slip turned out pretty too… so lacy like! You may see a few of them in our Etsy shop…
Thanks for thinking Molly looks all pulled together…sometimes my polka dot and plaid ideas are maybe a little over the top, but I always just go with what I think looks cute…hopefully someone else will too…
Thanks Cindy,
Blessings, Jeanne
A friend wants to teach her granddaughter to sew and the granddaughter is at least as enthusiastic. I have just sent her your URL. What could be better? She can see Sara and the new outfits, and see how a real seamstress sews doll clothes. My friend is great at human size clothes and I think she’ll be fascinated by your ideas.
Thank you Marilyn,
We just got back from dinner at Sara’s house. Her dad cooked us dinner as he wanted to celebrate the one year anniversary of knowing us. It was delicious and the memories were wonderful to think back on.
I had found a little flower loom at the thrift shop the other day that was still in the box brand new from Hobby Lobby… $19.99 was still on the sticker. I got it for $2.99 thinking this was something Sara might enjoy doing. I had barely given it to her until she had it out of the package and was trying to figure it out. I’m sure she’ll get it!
Thank you for passing along my website to her. I hope it inspires her!
Blessings, Jeanne
