Good Sunday morning to you all…
Just a quick note… I was visiting with my sister yesterday and read your comments but wasn’t able to answer them until I got home late last night. I did get them all answered though… Just wanted to thank you all for your kind comments again on my new Felicity doll. She is very sweet!
Okay, so when we last met, I had curled my new used, American Girl, Felicity’s hair on some big perm rods and was letting it dry… Saturday I took them out and we began to see what kind of curls there might be…
[If you click on any picture it will enlarge.]
Not quite what I’d call ringlets… but lots of body was added.
When smoothed out just a little bit, it started to look very pretty…
The backside really didn’t change much, but it curled under easier and looked more healthy. One lady emailed me and said you could use a tiny amount of Armour All and rub it on your dolls hair to bring back the sheen and make it very shiny. I haven’t tried this yet, but I might…
I like the way it curls around Felicity’s shoulders…
…and I really like the back. It’s so feminine and girly looking!
Okay, Okay, I know… too many pictures… but I just couldn’t help myself…
When Felicity was being so good about showing off her new hair… she spied my fabrics and asked me what color her first dress might be… I told her to pick out some and she picked out the greens first…
Then she asked me if she could look at some others… this is what else she picked out…
So I guess Felicity will learn what standing on the doll shelf is all about now… except she’ll be the only one with any clothing on… I bet she’ll be smiling for quite some time!
I hope you like her because I certainly do!
Do you have a favorite fabric?
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Wow! What an improvement on her hairstyle. I love the back of the hair now.
My favorite fabric – that a tough decision as there are lots of great possibilities in your stash! Maybe 11 or 6.
Will be waiting to see where Felicity leads you —-
HI Maureen,
Thanks so much for commenting on Felicity and her fabric choices… I have decided to record what everyone thinks… so we’ll see…
I think Felicity is here to stay…
Blessings, Jeanne
So pretty, Jeanne! I love her hair brushed out, so nice and full and shiny! You did a wonderful job with her, and it certainly shows! I think I see a sparkle in her eye, just because she is happy that she is finally “home” now!
For Felicity, I like numbers 5 and 12. They look the most like colonial era patterns, but Felicity could rock anything with her coloring!
I hope you had a good time with your sister and mom. So nice to be able to do that!
Hi Linda,
Thanks so much… Felicity is certainly making herself at home here and I’m loving it!
It’s interesting to see which fabrics appeal to everyone… I’m making notes…
My sister and her hubby just left… :o(
We had a super nice visit and have decided to plan a girls week at my sister Deb’s, house in Springfield. We’ll do it sometime in October. I will get me and my mom down to her house in Springfield, MO and then my older sister will fly in from PA to join us. We’ve never done anything like this so it will be lots of fun. There is something called the Dixie Stampede (A dinner theater show) and we plan to go to it.
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, the Dixie Stampede!!! That’s Dolly Parton’s place in Branson, isn’t it? We are heading to Branson Tuesday through Thursday to spend time with our daughter and her family who are vacationing there now. Will go to Silver Dollar city with the kids. You and your sisters and mom will have a ton of fun there, and October is a pretty time to go!
Oh, I am LOVING your new Felicity!!! I love her eyes, her hair color and boy, does it ever look pretty now that it’s been washed and curled! I do hope she gets a dress from the greens she chose first because they would make her beautiful eyes just POP!!!! So fun to watch this new girl enjoying her wonderful new life in your home!!
Blessings…big ones and little ones!
HI Bobi,
Thank you so much…and Felicity thanks you too, for all the nice compliments you said about her. She is going to be one pretty model when we do get a fabric chosen…
Thanks so much Bobi,
Blessings, Jeanne
I love Felicity’s hair, so pretty! I think the fabrics are all very nice, but I would choose numbers 9 or 11.
HI Regina,
I love Felicity’s hair now too… I think she’s very pretty and I’m so glad I took a chance and got her!
I’ve got your choices written down so now we’ll have to wait and see which one might be the winner.
Blessings, Jeanne
Her hair looks lovely, Jeanne. I would fight her for the gold fabric with purple flowers. I also think she would look wonderful in the green fabric with the red flowers. Her hair is such a striking color and now she has curls; she’ll stand out in most anything you put on her, I think. Have fun, you and Felicity!
Hi Jevne,
Thanks so much… I like that gold fabric with the bluish flowers too. I got that at the church yard sale…
I’m going to try and figure out how to add some pincurls to her hairline now…
Blessings, Jeanne
My new (old) Nellie (I call her Nell) arrived all doubled over in a cube shaped box — I was hoping it was something else — being squashed like that is hard on their leg joints — but it was poor Nell. She looked quite good, though her hair, like your Felicity’s, needed a good combing. I did that, then I looked at her, and then at Felicity’s pictures, and then at Nell, and then Felicity, and then I washed her hair. I used one of those organic low-suds shampoos. The shape remains the same, but it really is so much softer and shinier. I think today is doll hair washing day.
Now I’m grateful to you for 3 things — inspiring me to look for Nell, encouraging the hair washing, and the lovely way you pack. Nice packing shows respect for the buyer and for the item bought. Your clothes arrive looking like treasures and fresh and ready to put on. So many things don’t.
Have a lovely day — I hope your sister is still here. I nearly forgot to choose a fabric. I too like the gold with purple flowers (no. 11) and for late summer Virginia in 1774, I choose no. 4.
Now
HI Marilyn,
I’m glad you Nell wasn’t damaged in the way she was shipped to you. I like my dolls to arrive in the standing position…
All your dolls are going to have clean, shiny hair after today! That will be nice! I think washing the dolls hair can really make it so much prettier…most of the time hair that’s just dull or dusty looking can really benefit from a washing… (just make sure you don’t get water in the dolls eyes. I hold a washcloth over her eyes as I’m washing her hair.
My sister and her hubby just left! :o( But we packed as much visiting in as we could….and shopping too… they were having huge sales at Kohl’s and we found ourselves there 3 different times…
It seems like number 11 is pretty popular with everyone…
Thanks Marilyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
Felicity looks wonderful. She looks like a doll someone took good care of now. She has to be sooo happy about that. I like her so much, I have been viewing her on Ebay. Is it your snapshots that make her hair seem such a light bright color? Most of the Felicity’s hair on Ebay look very dark.
The choices of material are so difficult…but I like 2 to 6 and 9,10 and 11. That dark yellow with purple flowers is interesting.
Hope you are enjoying time with your sister.
Blessings!
Oh, now we have a new mom Barn Swallow on our porch and boat again!!!! We didn’t have a chance cleaning the nests out because of the constant bird swooping.
HI Paula,
Thanks for your sweet compliments on Felicity… she has turned into a beautiful doll. I am so happy I bought her. Oh no…the Felicity bug got you too???
The earliest dolls, the ones from 1991, all had the coppery red hair like my dolls. Then I’m not exactly sure when they changed it, but it went to a more auburn color and longer too. You can find those dolls sometimes with pretty silky hair and I was tempted, but I decided in the end to go with the Pleasant Company doll in the earliest version.
I didn’t use a flash with my pictures… just an Ott light for natural light. If I used a flash, her hair looks really red….like carrot red… It’s very pretty but it’s not true to life in color.
It looks like you had a hard time picking a fabric, Paula. I was the same way… I had a dozen more I could have picked too, but just narrowed it to these… We’ll see which one everyone likes the most in the end.
Oh, new birdies…another couple of weeks of watching them grow…
Thanks Paula,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hair is just lovely. Your fabrics are eye candy for sure! #6 popped right out for me. Has that vintage look from the 30’s. Love it.
HI Joy,
Thank you so much for your kind words about Felicity’s hair. I think she looks so much sweeter. I wish I had taken better “before” pictures…
Thanks for picking your favorite fabric…
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,
I’m a little late to your blog today. Felicity looks wonderful and I love the curl you gave to her hair. I like fabrics 3, 5 or 6. I think I like six best for a fabric which would set off her eyes and hair.
I saw Paula’s comment about her hair. The earliest German 1991 Felicity dolls like yours and mine had very coppery red hair. My daughter’s Felicity is from 1993, the last year of the German made dolls. Her hair is just slightly darker red. When Mattel bought out PC in 1997 Felicity’s hair gradually become more auburn and eventually almost light red brown before she was archived and her eyes changed from the more peridot green to the neon green color. Kirsten, Addy, Samantha and Molly dolls changed also. My daughter’s PC German Kirsten has much lighter and straw like hair than Mattel’s. the face shape changed slightly, too. It’s all a matter of preference. I happen to prefer the early German made ones of Kirsten, Samantha, Molly, Felicity and Addy. and AG’s Classic Kit and Julie to the BF version. I’m sure that more than you cared to know, but since we first encountered PC in 1991 I like to observe how things have changed and telling other doll lovers about it. 🙂 thanks for indulging me.
HI Laura,
I don’t mind at ALL that you filled us all in on the differences in Felicity’s hair over the years. I’m always up for learning something I didn’t know… I should have looked it up myself but my sister was here and I didn’t take the time. Thanks so much!
I’ve got you down for the fabrics you chose and it’s getting to be close between a couple of them.
Thanks so much Laura,
blessings, Jeanne
Wow! I can see what you saw underneath! She is gorgeous!
I like the fabric #4 and #12. I can’t wait to see her new dress…I know it will look beautiful.
Judi
Thanks Judi,
I liked number 12 too and was almost hoping it would win… It’s very Colonial looking to me…
Thanks so much,
blessings, Jeanne
