We are having storms come this way tonight and I thought it wise to get a small post written and scheduled to go on in case the power goes off. That way, at least you’ll have something to read. My satellite tends to get a bit weak and go very slow when we have storms…guess the cloudy skies and the rain make it difficult to get a signal through…
If you tried to leave a comment yesterday on my blog, you might have noticed the “comments” link at the bottom of the post was missing. I’m not sure what happened or where it went, but I have my webmaster, Sarah, trying to figure it out and put it back. (Actually as I finished up this post and double checked it, I saw the “leave a comment” link was at the bottom, so I’m not exactly sure what happened but you should be able to leave any comments here today.)
Let’s put a picture or two of the Civil War dress on here and if you’d like to leave a comment you can do so today.
I was SO hoping to hear your comments on Saige modeling that Civil War dress. It is listed on Ebay and will run for 5 days. Some of you may have noticed a difference in the title. I had originally planned to call it “Sentimental Sweetness” but when I tried to list that as my title on Ebay, it was too long to get the other vital information in my “title line” so I changed it to “Second Glance.” I hope you’ll take a peek at it and see all the other pictures of Saige in it.
You can see it HERE.
I also wanted to tell you I am working on a new little dress for Ten Ping. It’s a sweet navy and rose print dress with a bit of blue and white accent. It will come with her new rose suede shoes I made for her a while back.
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
So you are back! It certainly was strange not being able to comment yesterday, but that dress turned out just beautifully! I love the cameo and pretty scarf for the background! That hat is just adorable, Jeanne! You are truly a magician when it comes to turning a piece of material into a work of art!
As I write this, it is pouring down rain AGAIN, but it is early and I hope we get to see the sun again sometime soon! I’m so over these storms and downpours!
HI Linda,
YES, I’m back… we still don’t know what happened to the comments link on that post day before yesterday, but I sure hope it doesn’t happen again. I miss chatting with you all.
Thanks for your compliments on Saige’s dress. I was very happy with it too…and sorry Linda, I’m not a magician… just a lover of fabrics to the max!!!
We’ve had rain most of last night and today off and on. I don’t even look at the forecast anymore… it’s most likely rain, and I’ll deal with it when it comes…
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,
I kept checking your blog yesterday to see if the comment button was there, but no. Hmm, wonder what happened…
Anyway, Saige’s dress is picture perfect. At first, I didn’t notice the green in the cameo, but the blue behind it must bring it out. It’s so pretty, I think. I just noticed the waistline panel on the dress and how you centered the design on it, perfection (as always). I must comment again on how these colors look so beautiful on Saige. You picked the perfect model for your new dress.
No storms here, but it is still cool. This cool weather has started me thinking about fall again. Noooo!!!
HI Cindy,
We don’t know what happened yesterday with the comment button, but when I did my post last night it was there, so it must have just been some kind of a glitch, I guess.
Thank you for your very kind words about Saige’s dress set. Doesn’t she look so pretty in those colors? I think I’ve got another model for Civil War dresses… Maybe I should just do 1800’s dresses… and only buy dolls that fit the bill for that era….???
I’m glad you missed out on the storms Cindy. We dodged the bad parts but got plenty of rain… which we didn’t need.
Blessings, Jeanne
Saige and her dress are just beautiful! I love the cameo and her bonnet. Happy you are sewing for Ten Ping. I just took mine out of her box yesterday. She is a cutie!
Thanks so much Regina,
I’m glad you approved of the way I made her dress… I think the cameo was the perfect choice once I got the aqua scarf sized right…
Isn’t little Ten Ping just the sweetest thing? I hope you enjoy her…and yes she is very much a cutie!
Blessings to you Regina,
~ Jeanne
Saige’s dress is awesome…makes her eyes pop doesn’t it! Her accessories really set it off and as always the detail makes the whole outfit come together!
Have a great weekend!
Thanks so much Kathie,
Yes, these colors on Saige really do make her eyes come alive! She is definitely an aqua girl and who knows what other colors I should try on her to see how she looks in them…
I plan on having a good weekend…hope you do too!
blessings, Jeanne
I didn’t get to comment on Saige’s dress during the first peek, but I would have voted for exactly what you did!! The cameo is perfect for Civil War era. Saige looks beautiful in her new dress. The fabric really sets off her eyes. I haven’t seen you use any dolls other than your Eden and Rebecca to model that time period. I proves other AG dolls can wear those dresses quite well also. Just curious, since you use Elizabeth as Regency I wonder how she would look as Civil War.
Lots of rain here. too we have had 21 or so days of rain, storms or drizzle. Not the best for the farmers around here.
Thank you Laura,
I’m glad you were on the same page as me as far as decorating Saige’s dress. Once I got the scarf fringed and held up there and tried the other buttons and charms, the cameo just was the best choice.
I do use Rebecca and Eden for my Civil War dresses, but I “think” I have used Elizabeth before. I’ll have to check some pics and see if I find any. Yes, Elizabeth is my favorite Regency girl…she has a longer neck than my other girls and it helps with the necklines on the Regency dresses…it shows them off better.
I can’t think of one person I know living any where in the United States who isn’t dealing with too much rain…except maybe one of my customers in California…
Thanks so much Laura,
Blessings, Jeanne
I really wanted to leave a comment on the Civil War dress that Saige is wearing because I love the fabrics. It is so colorful and bright in the beautiful blues and greens. I see this dress being worn to visit with the ladies or to a church meeting. This dress should certainly very popular on eBay !!!!
HI Jeannie,
Thank you so much for your sweet compliments on Saige’s dress. She does look very pretty in those colors, doesn’t she? I’ll have to remember the ladies visit or the church meeting for my next dress, Jeannie.
I hope it’s popular…it’s already got a bid…so that’s a good sign!
Thanks Jeannie,
blessings, Jeanne
This outfit is just lovely and so colorful. Beautifully put together and absolutely perfect. It looks great on Saige!!!
Have a lovely weekend. Hope the sun peeks out!
Blessings!
P.S. We have 5 or 6 babies still in our porch nest. They can barely move in their tiny nest!
Thanks so much Paula,
I’m so glad I picked Saige to model it… just think if I had missed out on letting her try it on….
I hope the sun keeps your baby birds dry… 6 babies in one small nest makes a pretty crowded home!
Blessings, Jeanne
Wanted to comment on Paula porch babies.
We had a robin build a nest in the center of my grapevine wreath decorated with daises on the front porch wall one summer years ago. She had four babies crammed in that nest. We also couldn’t go out the front door for a couple of weeks, but then as long as you went slowly, she could tolerate it. I took pictures a couple of times when the mother was away.
I saw on he Weather channel that it could be a rough night for you. Happy all is fine. Lookforward to pics of Ten Ping.
HI Jan,
We certainly missed the brunt of the storm last night and I am so happy! We just got lots of rain but I can handle that!
I had another busy day, but I’m hoping to get some more done on Ten Pings dress…
Thanks Jan,
Blessings, Jeanne
HI Laura,
Just like everyone having a swimsuit story, I think everyone must have a bird nest story too!
The birds do sometimes find the strangest places to build their nests… I guess your Robins just wanted to be in a “pretty” place!
Thanks,
Blessings, Jeanne
I like what you found at Joanns. Yes, my car takes me there a lot. Saige’s dress is so nice.
I use your snap sewing trick all the time now. I want to thank you, for so many things you have taught me…
