” Ain’t She Sweet?” ~ Ten Ping’s dress revealed…

I have been working most of the day trying desperately to get Ten Ping’s dress finished and although I got it done, I didn’t have time to get it listed on Ebay…but I guess there’s always tomorrow!

Ten Ping is a little 8″ jointed doll by Ruby Red Galleria and she is a dream to sew for. She is tiny but not too tiny for me… I loved sewing for Riley, by Helen Kish, so maybe I just like itty bitty dolls. (I purchased my Ten Ping, Edition 6, from Lone Star Dolls and perhaps you’d like to have one for yourself too?) Click HERE and you’ll be taken directly to Dale’s shop.)

I decided to call this set “Ain’t She Sweet?” because isn’t she? Her dress is a navy and raspberry cotton floral print and I’ve added a bit of white lace to the hem of her dress.

I wove a strand of blue embroidery floss in the beading in the lace just to add a bit more detail. Just a simple little girl style, her dress has puffed sleeves with cuffs in a blue and white gingham fabric. There is also a band of it at the waist, along with a few felt flowers to add some interest.

Tiny blue buttons hide the snaps on the back side. It opens all the way to the hem for easy dressing.

Underneath Ten Ping’s dress is a pair of pantalettes with the same lace trim at the hem.

I was going to make her a hat out of wool felt and had several colors picked and ready to cut out, but I remembered her shoes were made out of Ultrasuede so I opted to go for it. It was a dream to sew and now it matches perfectly with her shoes.

These are the shoes I made a while back…If you’d like to see the making of them, you can read that post HERE.

She’s fairly new to my Dolly Toy Box but she heard some of my other girls whispering, “I wonder what she’ll pick out?” and so she asked me about it. I let her pick whatever she wanted and she picked a bear because she said it matched her shoes and hat. She’s a pretty smart cookie! I hope you like it…and sorry it’s taken me so long to get it on here. I know some of you have been waiting to see the finished set…
I will do my best to get it listed on Ebay Thursday evening.

See you tomorrow,

    1. Thank you Linda Marie,
It’s sometimes hard to know when to stop with the details…
      I appreciate your comment…
      Blessings to you today,
      ~ Jeanne

  1. That is just adorable, Jeanne! I especially love the way you took the embroidery floss and embellished the lace to make it your own! Such a sweet little outfit! I’m sure Ten Ping is very happy with this outfit, and is going to be mighty sad when you take it off of her!

    1. Thanks Linda,
Ten Ping already looks a little sad…I think you might be right about her being “mighty sad” when I do sell it… I’ll just have to have that little talk with her, explaining how things work around here!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Good morning, Jeanne. Ten Ping sure IS sweet! I love these colors on her; they’ll make the transition into fall beautifully. Great idea using Ultrasuede for her hat, it’s perfect.
Hope you have a great summer day!

    1. Good morning to you Cindy,
I looked on Ebay and most all of the things are Asian, so I think this might be her American look! I had all different colors of my wool felt, several shades of blue, rose, teal like the leaves, and had a DUH moment when I realized I had that Ultrasuede from her shoes… after that it was a no-brainer!
      Now to get it listed…
      Thanks Cindy,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Hello Jeanne,
Ten Ping’s dress is adorable in every detail! Love the material colors. Her hat is the perfect touch.
Forgot to tell you (and since Pottery Barn was brought up yesterday), when I first saw your bookcase, the one you and your sister re-furbished recently… it looks like it came right out of Pottery Barn- actually before and after. You should get one of their catalogs to compare!
Looks like it’s going to be a lovely summer day!
    Blessings!

    1. HI Paula,
Thanks so much for your sweet comments on Ten Ping’s dress set. It was really fun to put together.
I was thinking of getting a Pottery Barn catalog so I could see some pretty things myself. Maybe get some more inspiration for my home.

It looks like everyone is having a wonderful day of weather today! Finally!
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. PERFECT! She looks as happy as she ever does, but I’m sure she’s pleased. Good job on the shoes. I’ve been surprised how much ultrasuede stretches.

    1. HI Jevne,
Thanks so much for your comments on Ten Ping’s set.
Did you notice I took her braids out of the way they were tucked up by her ears. I turned them around and made it more of a “Swedish” look or a Swiss Miss look. They are just clipped on top of her head under her hat.
I also cut her some little bangs. The ones she had were sort of side swept and sort of flyaway. I used a little hairspray and made them stay down. I think they look cute on her, do you?
The Ultrasuede is really nice to work with and yes, it does stretch…very forgiving…
      Thanks Jevne,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Nice job! Love the Embroidery floss added to the trim…perfect! shoes match so well too! Good job on the bangs 🙂

    1. Thanks Kathie,
My sister told me the way her bangs are sort of separated like, they look like a little girl who is sort of “sweaty”… :o)
      Thanks for your sweet comments…
      blessings, Jeanne

  6. Charlotte Trayer

Love Ten Ping’s new outfit, Jeanne, and really enjoy seeing all your sewing projects!

I have some questions–Do you use all 6 strands of embroidery floss to weave thru the header? How to you tie it off–just a plain knot like when you end hand stitching, or…?? And, so often you use those perfectly cut out flowers and things. What is your secret?

    Thanks.

Charlotte (recovering from earlier internet outage…it’s like getting your oxygen cut off! LOL)

    1. Thanks so much Charlotte,
I think Ten Ping looks so sweet in this navy and pinkish set.
I do use all 6 strands of floss when I’m weaving something through the lace…it just fills it out more. I just use a single knot for starters and catch it beside the beading, whip stitch it a couple of times and then start weaving it through the openings. Then ending, I just do a whip stitch a couple of times keeping it pretty flat.
The flowers are just die cut flowers I find on Ebay, Etsy, and thrift stores. I don’t have a cricket or I’d cut them out myself.
Oh yes, I know what it’s like be “internet-less”….no fun…
      Blessings, Jeanne
