A few days ago I showed you 4 different fabrics and said one of them would be next up for one of my American Girl dolls.
You all voted and the winner from your comments and emails was the lavender print. It will be my job to see if I can bring it to life and create something worthy of its beauty. It really is a pretty piece of fabric.
Well, this evening I managed to get into my sewing room and I’ve gotten it started. I don’t really like to show something unfinished, but I wanted you all to know that I “DO” remember how to sew! (contrary to what’s been happening lately on my blog posts!) So here’s a sneak preview of what I’ve done so far…
Now you’ll have to use your imagination again to see if you can figure out how I’m going to finish it…
In the “olden days” before we got this new puppy, I could have gotten it finished, but having this little guy around is like having a toddler again. He is into everything! We finally got a big board and blocked him in the kitchen so he couldn’t get into too much trouble. When he was sleeping, I was sewing! As you can see from my progress…HE WAS AWAKE A LOT!!!
So I think we have settled on a name…although we are still finding ourselves just calling him puppy. The name we “think” we are going to use is Remy Roscoe. It will be sent in as Remmington Roscoe on his AKC papers, but we’ll call him Remy for short and Rebecca just thought the Roscoe was a nice middle name.
He’s a little thing and I took about 44 pictures trying to get him to sit beside Saige so you could get a better idea of his size, but it was next to impossible to get him to sit still. Out of those 44 pics…the two below are what were usable!
I’m hoping to find some time to get the dress worked on tomorrow, but the way this day went, I’m not sure of anything now!
Hang with me and I’ll get this worked out…I promise you.
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
That will be a beautiful dress, Jeanne! I can’t wait for it to be finished to see what it looks like!
As far as Remy, the puppy, I take it that he will be giving you some company for the time being, and you will just have to get used to that cute little fur ball ! He is just adorable, but I know what you mean about the “toddler” stage! Our last cat was just 5 weeks old when we got her, and it was like having a baby all over again! I think if we ever get another cat, it will be full grown and sleepy! LOL
HI Linda,
I hope I can get some work done in it today…I know how I want it to turn out and I’m hoping I can make it happen.
I think I know why the Lord has most people have their children in their 20’s and 30’s. ENERGY! I don’t think I could take care of a baby at 58, but he’s pretty close to what it would be like! You have to watch him constantly. I’m ready to buy a play pen!!
Thanks Linda,
Blessings, Jeanne
The dress is looking good so far. Remy suits him and I like his middle name too. I can just imagine what it’s like with him around. LOL 🙂
HI Christine,
Thanks for the compliments on the lavender dress…now to get it finished!!! That’s my goal!
This little bundle of joy is a little sweetheart and my hubby is truly enjoying his company! Remy hasn’t quite figured out just how special he is to my hubby but I suspect he will soon!
Blessings, Jeanne
Oh, I do like the name Remy with such a cute middle name of Roscoe. I do highly believe in middle names. We have had Murphy Shawn Patrick, Molly Rose & Major Henry Woodrow. Of course they become our children and more so with those names!
The Lavender fabric was also my favorite so I am happy you decided to create a dress with it. We are so needing some springy colors in our life after all the rain and flooding. So happy to see some sunshine to brighten our lives and to help the flowers recover from all the pelting down pours.
Excited to see those wedding pics…… hint, hint.
HI Jeannie,
I’m glad you like his name…first AND middle. I like the names of your pets…especially Major Henry Woodrow!
I’m sure you’re ready for anything that’s not gloomy and gray! I’ll do my best to make this dress something that will brighten your day just a bit!
I’m going to have to remind my brother about the wedding pictures…I’ll have to tell him I have subscribers WAITING for them!
Thanks Jeannie,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne. The lavender was my favorite too! I’m surprised you were able to get ANYTHING done with that cutie pie running around. They only stay little for a few months, so enjoy it. I love it so much when they are tiny, so I got one that stays tiny. I think my chihuahua is as big as Remy is now.
I had to think a bit where I heard the name Remy from. My Pamela Macy doll is named Remy.
Have fun with your new baby!
HI Cindy,
You are right about them staying small for just a short period…so I’ll just have to figure out how to do things when he’s asleep. He is snoozing right now!
I am having fun with him. Kristoffer came over last night and saw Remy for the first time…he gave his stamp of approval for him…and then had a selfie photo session with him.
I’ve never heard of a Pamela Macy doll…I’ll have to look her up and see what she’s like.
Thanks Cindy,
Blessings, Jeanne
The green with the lavender took my breath away. It is gorgeous. I cannot wait to see this outfit completed. Oh My!
The puppy looks like a Remy Roscoe! How precious. Keep us posted on his antics! He is just too cute. Naming a pet can be very personal.
My niece’s little red toy poodle’s name is “Forever Fabulous Miss Holly Wood” and we call her Holly. Our toy poodle’s name is “Bit o’ Honey and we call her Honey. They both came from the Poodle Planet because they are so different from any doggies we’ve had.
Have a great “productive” day ! LOL
Blessings.
HI Paula,
Thanks for your nice compliments on the lavender/green dress. I’m hoping it turns out like I want!
What fun names for the sweet pets of yours and your niece’s. Those are just too precious! I love the name Honey for a dog. My sister had a poodle named Watson and he was with them for 18 years. He just died last year…talk about missing someone…
Remy is sleeping now, so I need to get in my sewing room before he wakes up…
Thanks so much Paula,
Blessings, Jeanne
Purple and green is one of my favorite combinations! This will be a wonderful outfit. Remy Rosco is a great name. I am so glad you found a great puppy for your family. He is a darling!
Thank you Kathleen,
Purple and green IS a great combination and one of my favorites too. I love kelly green and navy too.
I’m glad we found Remy too…or Rebecca found him. She knew what her dad would like and it seems like a perfect fit. Remy doesn’t quite it know yet, but he’s a very strategic help in the healing process.
Thanks Kathleen,
Blessings, Jeanne
Sage looks very pretty in lavender. I think that Remy is a cute name and he is just adorable! Cindy is right they don’t stay little long, so enjoy him at this cute puppy stage. My baby dachshund (Ginger Lu) will soon be 5 years old…where has the time gone?
Thanks for your sweet comments. I love the name Ginger Lu… how adorable she must be! They do grow up fast, don’t they? As much as I’d like him to be grown up and not into so much mischief, I’m going to enjoy the journey of his “being a little boy!”
Thanks Regina,
Blessings, Jeanne
The new dress will be fabulous, especially with the trims you’ve chosen. That puppy is so cute–we’ve never had a schnauzer, but he could make me change my mind about that. Our terriers are nine and eleven, so we are well past the puppy days. I do love puppies though! Of course, I need to look on the bright side and remember that we are also past the house breaking and chewing!
HI Carolyn,
Thanks for the nice comments about the dress! I haven’t gotten much done on it today. I had such high hopes!!!
Yes, we are in the throes of potty training and chewing… it’s never ending, but I know it will be worth it in the end to have a well behaved dog.
I had him all day, so now it’s my hubby’s turn and I hope to get some more done on the dress.
Thanks so much Carolyn,
Blessings, Jeanne
